Enough to make a paladin consider suicide :)

"Xzar stands in a small dark room, he walks over to his desk which is covered with various things, some dead and some still alive, if a bit malformed, he picks up a scroll covered in blood and other liquids, he then unfolds the parchment and begins speaking the magical words written upon it, after a bright flash of light he is standing behind Edwin"

Well it seems to have indeed been a Teleportation scroll "Looks at Edwin" but I do not recall envisioning something quite so....useless "Looks around" At least the atmosphere looks to be engaging "then in a child-like voice" smells of death and cookies! "Pulls out a small bag and begins digging through it before pulling out small wand and slipping in the sleeve of his robe" "To Edwin" So....don't suppose your alone, no no no. "Pauses and mumbles to himself for several minutes" so what are we doing here anyhow?

    @Alejandro

You are very brave for trying to protect me but very heavy when you land on me. Tiax is mean and I'm not talking to him anymore.

It's getting to be close in the crowded little room, now being shared by seven people as Minsc pops in as well. Thankfully, someone conjures a light, and you are finally all able to see. You are in a 10' by 20' room. In front of you is a statue of a four-armed, gargoyle-like creature. One of the arms is snapped off at the shoulder joint and lies on the floor.

Okay. I'm going to start checking for traps and secret doors. But I am keeping well away from the place where knights in plate armour fall on your head. The next person who comes through can use someone else as their bouncy castle.

Tiax shall inspect the statue, he shall examine the break, the arm on the floor and the outstretched arms/hands.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Now that there is light, you find a small passage tunneled into the wall. It runs south for about 10', then makes a west-angled turn. Everyone else is going to have to crawl, but for Alora and Tiax, it's more of a crouch.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
I'm going to listen at the opening of the passage and see if I can hear anything moving. And I'm going to ask Ajamtis and Minsc to watch Tiax and make sure he doesn't try to put the arm on the statue while I'm not looking.

Did I mention I'm not talking to Tiax anymore? Well I'm not!
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Tiax finds that the statue is inanimate, but that its three clawed hands are cupped, almost as if something was meant to be put in them... What that is, however, is unknown. As for the fourth hand, it seems to have snapped off the statue, but if it did, both ends are so crumbled that they can no longer be fitted together in any meaningful way. The statue itself seems to have a watchful, waiting aspect, but why, you cannot say.

If I don't hear anything I will start down the passageway going very slowly and looking for traps and checking the ceiling looks safe.

I will stop when I come to the bend. If I have got a mirror in my pack I will take it out and use it to look round the corner. If not I will attempt to hide in the shadows and move silently and will stand by the far wall as I glance round the corner.

OOC: Wonder how far behind Xzar and Edwin get?
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
You see some sort of silver... thing at the end of the passage. Sort of a screen of light... maybe.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
I'll creep closer (after making sure Tiax isn't behind me and can't push me into it). Does it look like a mirror?

No, it wavers as you get close to it... it's some sort of illusion. As you get really close (after almost 20' of crawling) you can see through it. It's about 8' above the floor, though, so it will be a bit of a drop for you.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
I'm not that good at climbing so I'm going to go back to Minsc, Ajantis and Keldorn and see if one of them will help lower me down. I'm going to ask whoever stays behind to make sure Tiax doesn't do anything with the arm while we are gone.

OOC: But I've got the bad feeling none of them are around right now.

Okay, while you are exploring, @IchigoRXC TIAX fiddles some more with the statue. Nothing comes of it. It neither tries to rip his head off nor lay the world at his feet. The others, crowded into the fairly small room, are ready to move on, and gladly follow Alora and help her get down. You find yourselves standing in another long hallway, 20' by 130' long, or thereabouts. Just like the entryway, the floor is inlaid tiles, and the walls are painted with figures of animals (as is the ceiling). But this one differs in that there are far fewer animals on the walls, and each one appears to be holding some sort of sphere. The one you have crawled from, is, on this side, a golden sphere held high over the head of a snakey-looking man. Down the same western-side wall, running north to south are: an Orange sphere held waist-high, Purple at the feet, Bronze held waist high, Gray at shoulder, Bright Blue at the feet, White held high above the head, Turquoise at the Shoulder, Scarlet held Waist-High, Pale Green at the Feet.

On the other side of the hall, on the eastern wall, are: Pale Blue at the Shoulder, Silver at the feet, Green held high above the head, Yellow at the Shoulder, Pink held high above the head, Black at the feet, Pale Violet at the shoulder, Red held waist-high, Buff at the feet and Indigo held high above the head.

At the southern end of the hall is another archway, this one with stones that glow Olive, Russet and Citron, and the familliar, swirling vapors.

    Grr: edited to fix mistakes.

I'll go milady. I failed once already I shall not fail once more.

Have either of our paladins got the ability to detect traps? I will start checking the floor for pits and the walls for traps and secret doors.
  • mlnevesemlnevese Member, Moderator Posts: 10,214
OOC I don't remember if the BG Inquisitor has detect magic as well as dispel magic... but no traps hability at all...
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Nope, no trap-detection. Evil yes, but not traps. Looks like it's all up to Alora now. And she scans the room, but finds no obvious traps. Or even inobvious ones...
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
Okay. I'm going to check the tiled floor first. I'm going to crawl on my hands and knees so I spread my weight because I don't want to fall onto any poisonous spikes. If I don't fall down a hole I will start checking the walls more thoroughly.

While I am doing it can someone look at the ceiling and make sure nothing weird is happening there.

Do the shapes being held by the pictures look like the same kind of objects as would fit in the gargoyles hands?

I'll look around for cracks or suspicious openings in the walls and ceiling. AS much as possible as I'm closely following Alora.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
Okay Keldorn but just don't fall on me like Ajantis did.
  • mlnevesemlnevese Member, Moderator Posts: 10,214
    I'll try not to milady.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
No, these are much too big to fit in the hands of the gargoyle. The Orange and Purple ones are hinged like doors, though. and the Black and Red are illusions. covering crawlways similar to the one from the room with the gargoyle statue.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
Oh Keldorn. Now you sound like Ajantis. I'm too small to be a lady.

I understand now. I didn't realise I had crawled out of one of the spheres. Okay so I will look at the Orange and Purple doors first and check for traps again.

I'm not going to open them though.
