Why is it that I can't level up to proficiencies above two slots? Two-Handed Sword can be upgraded to five slots. Do I need to pass a specific level?
In BGEE you can only put more than two proficiency points into a proficiency after level 1. So a fighter at level 3 could have *** towards long swords and ** towards two-weapon style. But at level 1 he couldn't have *** towards long swords and * towards two-weapon style. The same applies with rangers (who start out with ** in two-weapon style).

I don't understand why it doesn't work. The latest example is when Dorn II-Khan, Blackguard reached level 3. I could neither upgrade in Two-Handed Sword nor Two-Handed Weapon Style. Both are ++. So Instead I chose War Hammer.
Another example is when Imoen reached level 4. I could neither upgrade Shortsword nor Shortbow, which are both at +.
@Tomako Indeed not all classes can go beyond specialization. To be specific, only fighters may do that (archers too I guess). Some classes, like Imoen being a thief, can only put a single pip in each proficiency.
* = Proficiency ** = Specialisation *** = Mastery **** = High Mastery ***** = Grand Mastery
As FinneousPJ mentioned only fighters and the Archer kit (for rangers) can get grand mastery in a weapon (Archers are limited when it comes to this to just crossbows and bows).
Rangers, Barbarians, and Paladins generally can get specialisation in a weapon (and mastery when it comes to two-weapon style).
Rogues (bards and thieves), Mages/Sorcerers, Monks, and Clerics/Druids can only get proficiency with a weapon.
There are other kit-related changes to the above that I'm not going to bring up here (since none of the NPC's in BGEE actually are of a relevant kit for this). You can read about them in the BGEE and BG2EE manuals (second book for each)
I think some dialogs aren't happening that are supposed to happen. Nobody's said anything for a while, and now I'm getting this
Both rasaad and jan have there circles divided into 4 pieces, and then all the sudden viconia turns to rasaad and says "shar guides my hand" is this I known bug? I think I'm missing a lot of banters this way. I had a drink with neera ~week ago but she hasn't said anything since. I feel like I'm missing a lot of the game, on all my playthroughs. Also I picked neera over viconia right after the dialog about drow marriage, and she hasn't said anything since, and it's been a looonngggg time.
Without knowing any of the specifics, I wouldn't be surprised if Viconia vs Rasaad was a thing... Shar vs Selune and all... Although there really ought to be some chatter beforehand.

At character creation in BG1EE, warrior-classes (e.g., fighters, paladins, rangers) can spend up to two proficiencies on a weapon or weapon-style. AD&D only allows warrior-classes to be specialized at first level.
At higher levels, when a single-classed fighter gains new proficiencies, they can go beyond two proficiencies in a weapon (or two weapon style), up to 5 as gaining new proficiencies allows.
Notes: Paladins, rangers, and multi-classed fighters are limited to two proficiencies spent on weapons (except Archers, who can spend 5 on bows/crossbows). Certain fighter kits are limited in the kinds of weapons they can spend 5 proficiencies on (e.g., Berserkers can only spend 1 on ranged weapons). Most other classes are limited to 1 proficiency slot per weapon.
If a fighter dual classes at low level (for argument's sake lets say Fighter5>Thief with ** in longswords) do they get the extra half attack for Grand Mastery?
Why? To force players to abide by the rules of the "tutorial" or to avoid continuity errors derived from killing NPCs you would need later on your return to the Keep?

I'd guess mostly to stop an obscenely cheesy method of grinding... Like Gorion wouldn't notice...
"Ah, my son! I am glad I have found you." *notices blood soaked clothes* "Uhhh... Where did that come from?.. Now that I think about it, Imoen's 'Heya!' seemed rather cut off..."

@Tomako Babies will never drop heads. There should be two adult wyverns in the cave. If they really didn't drop anything and you don't have a save to return to, try moving between the areas of the Cloakwood. You can encounter two adult wyverns as a random encounter. They'll drop the heads as well. Babies will never drop heads.
Edit: Were you in a cave with a man in it as well? Because that's not the wyvern cave. That's a cave with wyverns in it.

That explains it then. Thank you. I did get flanked by them on the way to Beregost, though I died.

Yea wyvern poison is deadly stuff. 5 damage/second if I recall correctly (I'm talking about the adults not the baby wyverns).
I'll just hope that they were chaotically aligned, to suppress the guilt. :c
Off-topic: My main PC has nine strength, fortunately I have a found Rashad's Talon +2. An upgrade from my default 19 THAC0. The unfortunate part, however, is that the Talon requires 10 STR. Will I ever gain stats when leveling up? Can I respec, officially or unofficially?
I found out about EE Keeper. Running around with 6 STR was getting on my nerves 70lbs?! I can actually carry stuff now!

1. Wyverns are evil. Their natural alignment is evil. Don't worry.
2. You find one +1 tome for every stat throughout the game. Wisdom has three of those tomes, but the rest of them only have one. The STR tome comes rather late, however, so you will probably find something even better by then. (unless your character uses scimitars specifically. Rashad's Talon is one of the best scimitars in the game.) I won't tell you where the tome is since this seems to be your first play-through, but I will say make sure you have someone with a good lock-picking skill.

Pew~
Well then I can feel decent about using EE Keeper. I do hope my PC will pack a bit more punch at level 7 and up. From what I've heard the Avanger is a slow class and most likely not the best for a first-time player. But hey, challenges are golden. Thanks for the help!

Can I somehow turn ON vertical sync in game?
