It's a great game for singleplayer that I've tried , though not finished yet. I liked the original Divinity because of the hand drawn graphics , and got some demotivation when I saw this game , I just hate Warcraft Baloon-like geometric abominations. But it looks fine if you don't zoom too close , and the game is very catchy for those who like thinking and exploiting around. Don't look at walkthroughs about it , I say , and just dive in it. If you aim to finish the game , you would eventually come to discover the same key marks as anybody else , apart from those that not necessary. There are bugs in the game , but I found them on my own , so I don't care exploiting them
Well, I finally finished my first playthrough. Have to say I quite enjoyed it. The gameplay is really enjoyable, which is of course the most important thing in a game. Many people have complained about the story. I didn't find it bad - actually I found it good - but it does suffer from the presentation. On one hand the game's fun because of the light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek, making-fun-of-the-genre moments, but on the other hand it does take away from the telling of a great story. Fundamentally I thought the story was interesting.
God damn people... There are so few games like this made so SUPPORT the people making them! 40 euros/dollars/whatever is barely over half the price of new console game these days.
You need to look around more. RPGs seem to be making a comeback, there's all sorts of them out there right now, with more on the way. It probably won't be too long before Pillars of Eternity is ready for release, and Torment: Tides of Numenara is looking to be a pretty solid title as well. I'm in the same boat as others. While it looks interesting, I already have a bunch of games to play, so it's a low priority right now.

So if you count this, PoE, and TToN that's basically a game per year as TToN is not going to be launched in 2015. I know there are couple others, but it's bit ridiculous to claim there are many games like this being released.
Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition has been announced!
This isn't just some patch or minor content update to the game you all know and (hopefully) love; it's a whole new experience! With controller support, local co-op with split screen, fully voiced characters, a totally reworked story (with a brand new ending), and much more, we're very proud to finally be able to share what we've crafted here at Larian.
In the update video below, Swen reveals a little more about the fantastic new features you can look forward to in Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition.
We've also included controller support on PC, so now you can kick back and explore Rivellon from the comfort of your sofa with Steam's Big Picture. We've put a lot of effort into streamlining the experience and have designed a slick, new UI that makes playing with a controller just as intuitive and fun as playing with mouse and keyboard.
As well as local co-op, split screen and controller support, the Enhanced Edition also features:
All characters are now fully voiced by AAA-voice actors New quests, new characters, and new content Entirely new gameplay modes and character builds A heavily rewritten story with a brand new ending Massively reworked visuals and sound effects And much more to be announced in the coming months!
To me, this "Enhanced Edition" sounds interesting. I even can go on and say that it probably shows what an enhanced edition of any game can include. So we'll wait and see (and test)
I have to say I don't care much for the main points they advertise: local co-op, split screen and controller support. Local multiplayer is great in Mortal Kombat, but I don't know whom I would play an RPG with. I just hope the UI rework for controllers does not hinder mouse users. Other than that, the "also features" sound nice.
I got bored about a third of the way through the original and never finished it, (very slow and tedious opening act, repetitive combat, too many puzzle dungeons), so I may or may not try the revised version, depending on price and community reaction and reviews.
It's interesting to know about it, though, so thanks for posting the announcement here, @bengoshi . I often find out about the latest gaming news through your posts.
Is it coming as an update to the game or will it be sold separately?
It looks like it will be a separate game:
"Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition is a completely separate game: not an update to Divinity: Original Sin. Both games will remain available on PC and Mac, and it is important to note that they are totally different entities, so if you've already bought Original Sin you'll see separate listings for Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition in your Steam Library. This means that saved games can't be transferred from Divinity: Original Sin to the Enhanced Edition. This is largely because of the technical changes we've made to how the game looks and feels, but the story has also been rewritten so heavily that most saved games would no longer be compatible with the plot. (After all, it wouldn't make sense to load a game in which you're halfway through a quest line that's been replaced with something different.)"
The devs did say that although the EE will be a completely separate game, it will be free to anyone who already owns it will get a free copy. I also have not played past the first town, mostly because it doesn't run very smoothly on my computer. It is next on my list to tackle after I finish PoE, so in like a year from now! I didn't see it stated, but I'm assuming they are porting it into Unity 5 (just like InXile are doing with Wasteland 2), and hopefully that will improve some of the performance issues.
I don't know if it's going to be standalone, but apparently, if you already have D:OS you get the Enhanced Edition for free. http://www.divinityoriginalsin.com/
I got 3/4 of of the way through the original and had to stop, that game was addictive. I can't play it now because it's one of the games that over heats my broken laptop, so I never even finish on my first unpatched play through.
“Before we launched our Kickstarter campaign, we asked the community what sort of reward and ideas they had in mind for our campaign. You guys came up with some interesting stuff, and one of the highest-voted ideas was getting Chris Avellone on board as a writer.
“Plenty of folks on the Larian team are fans of Chris’ work, but we hadn’t yet considered bringing him on for D:OS2. Intrigued, Swen sent him an innocent Tweet, and the two met up at PAX.”
At the time of writing, the Divinity: Original Sin 2 Kickstarter sits at $1.7 million, over three times its original ask, with three days to go.
I loved the music and I really liked the class creation. I also really liked the dynamic environment (where you can set fire to grease or cast a fireball to cause a puddle of acid to become a cloud of acid). But unfortunately the story really didn't keep me interested. I think I only played maybe 6-7 hours. So I'm really looking forward to Divinity Original Sin : Enhanced Edition just to see what they do with it. Should be interesting.

The game is definitely worth a buy.
Hardcore RPGs are definitely a tiny niche still.

Swen Vincke has revealed the game is set to be released on September or October this year, probably October.

His involvement was confirmed thought Larian Studio’s already successful Kickstarter project – though not as a stretch goal. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/larianstudios/divinity-original-sin-2
