This is the first time I've been back on here in quite a while, Im a very happy, lucky man, a little exhausted, but worth every moment and here's why...
The wife and I were going through some boxes in the basement, and look what I found:
I was sure I'd lost these forever. (And yes, that's the first edition of Deities and Demigods, the one with Elric and Cthulu in it.)
Also in the box were all my first edition splat books, my 2nd edition PH and DMG, half my Dragon magazine collection, Twilight 2000, Space 1889, Villains and Vigilantes, and a host of other stuff I didn't even remember I'd had. (Why do I have 2 Fiend Folios? I have no idea.)
Seriously, opening that box set off a wave of nostalgia like I've never experienced.
I watched Last Holiday with Queen Latifah with my dad last night. We like watching sappy movies together, and Queen Latifah is just such a warm, sweet character.
Tonight when I put my son to bed and I asked him to hug me, he threw his arms around me and patted me on the back the same way that I do for him when he has a coughing fit. It was just such an incredibly sweet gesture, especially since he still doesn't actively show affection like that very often. It was enough to make kind of a crappy week not matter.
@ThacoBell: How old is he now? It's very rare for a young child to be that sweet. Maybe his dad is rubbing off on him.
We had a baby shower for my friend Pam today. It took some work setting up at first, but it was worth it. The food was lovely, we saw some old friends, we played some video games, and at the end, people made prints on onesies for the baby. The whole thing was Harry Potter-themed, with owl balloons and HP decorations and everything.
