Very true. They see the world fresh and completely connected. No perceptual biases, no predetermined opinions of what things firmly are and are not. In other words; they are always thinking "out of the box" because they haven't made a box yet.
After I updated to the new version of Ubuntu (Focal Fossa), a lot of my applications started having problems. One of them was Icewind Dale 2. At first, the program didn't even run. I downgraded my version of Wine to a previous one, and I edited some stuff and I got the game to work, but it had a lot of lag. After trying several things, I finally managed to make it run smoothly again using the command "winetricks win98" from the terminal. Unfortunately, I have to run that command every time I want to play IWD2. In other words, the game needs a really ancient simulated environment to work. It's a hassle, but I'm happy that at least I can play it again.
A really ancient simulated environment you say? How ironic, on many levels.
I get what you mean, and I actually hesitated when I wrote that, but at some point we have to acknowledge that the 90's and early 2000's are in the process of becoming ancient history. It's not pretty, but it is what it is... lol
So imagine my surprise, growing up in the 70s and 80s, finding out I am not pretty and old. Ugh!
Is okay... I have intangibles.
Lol! Seems like I rolled and failed a Charisma check. If I say something now to try to make it right, it will only sound worse. Oh well, you win some battles and you loose some, this time I clearly lost : P

Just giving you a hard time.
May the best of your past be the worst of your future.
Lol, not to worry about charisma, I have a negative one and still manage.
Made me cry..
Wish that I believed I deserved that. I don't. I am no one. Most of my life is spent hanging behind everyone else hoping they will notice me and praying that they won't. Love you though dearheart, you really are great.

You have a kind heart. Just hoping you can spread that kindness to yourself.
Nice weather outside - I went running and saw in the sky big vultures, griffon vultures to be precise. They were circling high in the sky, it was a beautiful sight. Would I have lived 2000 years ago I would surely have taken this as a sign, as an omen. Good or bad, I don't know.
They are beautiful birds. Of course, there is a lot of negativity linked to them, because they are mainly scavengers. But who cares ? Aren't we all of us scavengers as well ? I mean do we feed on animals that we hunt ourselves ?
Those birds are so majestic ! Almost 3 meters wingspan ...
So it was a beautiful run, as always. I live near the sea, and today the light was particularly beautiful. And those birds circling slowly in the sky, well I felt like in a dream.
I wish a nice day to everybody.

Made me wonder where you live, that you can see vultures in the sky, so I did a search for griffon vultures, found out that it's name is far more prosaic in Dutch (vale gier = sallow/drab vulture). Turns out if it's a sea that you can sea the vultures at, it's either the Mediterranean, the Black Sea or the Indian Ocean: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vale_gier#/media/Bestand:Gyps_fulvus_distribution_map.png
In the summer pretty hot - you have to start running pretty early (around 5 AM) because of the heat and of the humidity. At the moment, it is the best season - sometimes there are rains, but I like running in the rain.
Sometimes, I take my car and go down to the seashore and there it is very nice to run, but there are more people, even early in the morning. When I run in the mountain, I am sometimes alone ("I am a man who [walks] runs alone ...."), in the evening it can even be a bit scary because you hear all sort of noises. It is amazing how at night nature awakes. I remebember 25 years ago I was in Darwin in the Northern Territory province of Australia. An amazing place. It was during Xmas, so it was pretty hot. My girlfriend was working in a CSIRO lab in the bush, and we leaved in a bungalow in the midlle of the jungle. During my first night there, I woke up screaming of fear because of the noise outside. A real symphony of noises, screams, craking, etc. Took me a couple of days to get accustomed to it...
Praise the scavengers. Just imagine the horror if they weren't around. The corpses of creatures laying everywhere, rotting. Yes, praise the scavengers.
I went out with a new trans friend and encouraged him to use the men's room instead of the women's room like he normally did, and it turns out it was his first time going in the right room! I gave him a high five and he was happy about it. Those little steps are huge when you're early in transition and don't have support at home.
It made me feel like a good mom. I'm taking him to a doctor's appointment on Wednesday.
We spent 3 hours walking and talking at a local park, and it really got his mind off of things (one of his grandparents died the day before) and I think I connected with him a lot more. He was super isolated before we made friends and didn't get out much, and he saw an inch worm today for the first time ever! A second inch worm fell on my face later on. He also liked seeing green ducks and a big snow white bird I think was an ibis. I hugged him a lot and it was just a really nice day.
@Balrog99 Congratulations !
No worries, I was vaccinated almost three months ago wit Pfizer and everything went OK. I was a bit down one day after the second jab, but the day after, I ran 20 km.
I know of no people who had problems. @Bubb Yes science is amazing. This is a big achievement for humanity, the ability to mobilize our forces in front of a danger. I hope we will learn lessons and be more humble and respectful toward nature.
@semiticgoddess - Ibis is a wonderful bird. In Ancient Egypt it was the symbol of Thot, the god of wisdom of reason. I am sure your friend had a great day. Little strokes fall great oaks as ome says. You are very generous to help your friend. It must be a difficult way, but to be true to oneself is one of the most important and difficult task in life. Have a nice day !

Quite sure there is no loaded dice involved
@Michelle , I agree, I very much like reading your posts.
Has to be those intangibles.
Really, you all are so sweet!

Must be a wonderful place to go running, a bit hot though?
