Based on the time frames of the previous releases we should see a fully realized version in 2020. You know after the first release, then the 1.1,1.2, and eventual 1.3 updates that almost give us a stable and bug free game.
I mean how is BGEE looking these days? Still not quite cooked is it, and BGIIEE well dont get me started.
I WANT to be excited, but with each month I become less and less interested and more dubious of your ability to deliver on your promises.

Do yourself and everyone a favour, if you don't like it, don't buy it. The rest of us will enjoy it all the same.
IWDEE? Delicious with a bunch of ice and cream, if being cooked for a month.
Better than ever? 1.2 was really solid, and 1.3 is fantabulous in just about every possible way. And with IWD:EE announced, there's now the possibility of sharing assets between IWD and BG (animations, spells, etc...). And there's been this big project on updating/fixing map art, although I'm unsure what the status is on this. I booted up vanilla BG and TuTu BG the other day for comparisons, and I'd never go back to either even if you paid me. Modding capabilities are also greatly increased.
BG2:EE is in OK state. Not great, but the next patch should bring it from OK to BGEE 1.3 levels of quality, and from the ticket tracker, there are very, VERY nice bug fixes (which I can't disclose due to NDAs) that cover longstanding issues in vanilla BG2 (and which arent' covered by fixpacks either), and it'll have the latest version of the engine (i.e. improved over BGEE1.3), with the associated increase in modding capabilities.
I have no idea what the state of IWD:EE will be at launch, but as far as crashes and such go, it'll likely use that same updated engine, and thus be equally stable. It could be as buggy as BGEE/BG2EE upon release, but it would surprise me if they did given all the experience Beamdog has acquired over the last few years, and that most (although not all) of the bugs were related to the new content. And it will again greatly boost modding capabilities given it'll share the EE engine, which would mean certain mods like SCS could be used with IWD. Plus you know, the updated UI.
If you want to be safe, don't pre-order, wait for reviews and initial feedback, and if it's not up to your standards, stick to vanilla until it gets patched to your standards.
seems like a pretty reasonable concern to me. Its easy to assume that because you have experienced few bugs that your experience is the universal one. I bought bg2EE on release and i'm yet to have a smooth run through despite 3 attempts
Personally I wont be picking this up until its confirmed by numerous trustworthy sources as being more or less bug free
That said, we have worked very hard to overcome the issues that surrounded the launches of BG:EE and BGII:EE, and we aren't under the same restrictions we were for those titles. If we determine that IWD:EE isn't up to scratch, we'll just work on it until it is.
I'd recommend waiting a few days and checking the reviews, just like any game. I'm not a fan of day-1 purchases myself, and we don't expect anyone to buy IWD:EE first up. If you're unsure, wait and see. I hope you'll be pleased with what we've done.
BG:EE and BG2:EE obviously each had a pretty rough start. What keeps me coming back, however, is Beamdog's enthusiasm for these classics. While the initial state of the games are not quite ideal, so far I could count on the devs to revisit the outstanding issues and fix them, because they seem to care about the state of these games as much as I do. Usually it takes... well, quite a while, but at least it's happening. Which is more than I can say about some other developers out there.
