For example: it would be hard to imagine a Temple of Auril located in Candlekeep!
A temple of Talos in Candlekeep is also pretty hard to imagine.
for bg:ee i've always thought that it'd be cool if you'd only be able to create a non-kit character and gain a kit through the course of the campain by converting your class to that kit ... for example, you start out as generalist mage, visit a certain conjurer and study with him in order to become one etc etc. especially since the original game didn't have kits either.
According to "canon," in addition to the temple of Oghma, Candlekeep apparently also has shrines to Deneir, Gond, and Milil as well as a temple for Savras in the Hall of Pools and Mirrors. Link: http://www.candlekeep.com/library/articles/temples.htm
I think there may very well be worshippers of evil deities at the keep or hidden (probably temporary) shrines somewhere in the catacombs beneath. And, given the great amount of lore and knowledge stored there it doesn't seem impossible for a young Bhaalspawn to discover information about any number of faiths. They would likely have to keep their worship hidden from prying eyes, but as we all know parents never know what their teenagers are up to. CharName probably had Talos posters all over his room, painted his fingernails black, and walked around acting like he didn't care about anything. Gorion would just call it a "phase" and choose to overlook the odd behavior.

Tethtoril always looked shifty to me. First he just "accidentally" makes off with Master Firebead's Identify Scroll, then actually appears in two places at once on the map. He passes right by the four priests singing the "Lord of Murder shall parish" and doesn't bat an eye?
Perhaps Firebead Elvenhair was trying to warn us? "So hard to find... decent folk nowadays"

Yeh right, and we never landed on the sun either...wait a minute. O_O
What about Dreppin and his ever sick cow? Obviously something bad going on there, he's probably a worshipper of Talona, trying out poisons on the poor livestock!

If Dreppin was secretly a worshipper of Talona, he wouldn't have asked you to find an antidote for the cow. From what I know, priests of Talona don't encourage the curing of diseases.

He could be a sadist and asked for the antidote just so he could poison the cow again.
Ah, but you didn't hear the dialog before the character meets him.
"Hahahaaaa! Now you shall die my little bovine victim. Once this poison is perfected I shall slay half the keep in honor of Talona!" "Moo?" "Beg all you want, I shan't show mercy to a four leg vegetarian!" "Moo." "Silence fool! It's imperative that no one suspect my experiment." "Hey Dreppin, what's up?" "WHA?! Er.. um.. yes, how are you char name... wait, no, I... Nessa's fine, dammit! Um..." "Dreppin?" "Phyldia left one of her books in here again. It's in the hay, there, beside the cow. If you could run it over to her and then come back, I've got some plans for you." "Sure thing." "Finally, the fool is gone. Now what am I to do?" "Moo." "Shut up! I'm trying to think. Has he noticed anything? Did he hear me talking to you? By the gods, who knew this could be so complicated!" "To hells with it, I'll have to abandon the plan. For now." "Moo." "Hush, here the fool comes again." "So, what do you need Dreppin? I'm on a bit of a schedule this morning." "Nice day, ain't it? Too bad Nessa here ain't enjoyin' it though, her bein' sick 'n all..."

But still it completely changes my understanding of the whole situation. When I read the interview, I thought he for certain said about a few new kits that were not in BG2EE.
Now, even with this "yet" it looks completely different. "Yet" may or may not become "Already" to the moment of IWDEE release. I've thought it's (I mean kits that ar not in BG2:EE) a done thing, a fact - while it turns out it's not certain.
I'm hoping @elminster included a Priest of Myrkul kit in his soon-to-be released kit mod.
Well you'll have to wait for the next 6ish days to see what I've done of course. I've tried to add a bit more variety to the list of available clerics if nothing else
@Mortianna well since the new kits have been announced for IWDEE (Priest of Tyr and Priest of Tempus) I might as post my new kits. More details will be released on launch day. At the moment this is what I'm aiming for, though the paladin ones may not be done by then.
Fighter
Myrmidon Tunnelrat (Halfling only)
Paladin (obviously all human only)
Divinate of Mystra Divinate of Mielekki Divinate of Ilmater
Cleric
Iceguardian of Ulutiu (Human only) Icepriest of Auril Earthwalker of Grumbar (Dwarf or Gnome only) Shaman of Gruumsh (Half-Orc only) Priest of Luthic (Half-Orc only) Leaftender (Halfling only)
Thanks so much for making cool kits, look forward to the details! Beamdog should hire you, imho
Does the Myrmidon (I think you have one D or "Dee" too many) get extra skill with spears and short swords? Because if this is Achilles-style Myrmidon's we are talking about then I will 100% have one in my first playthrough
Myrmidon (you are right I had too many d's, must have just been too excited for IWDEE) basically is just very similar to the base fighter. The reason for this is that the biography for the base fighter in IWD is very similar to the description granted for the Myrmidon (basically just a very disciplined and extremely effective fighter that might have been a former member of the military or a mercenary).
Original Fighter's biography (so original IWD)
Although the life of a warrior has always held your heart, the huge cities and bustling crowds of southern Faerûn has made you restless. You have tired of following the orders of too many career-minded officers that seek office rather than success on the battlefield, and become irritated by the presence of so many soldiers upon the streets looking for work, that it seemed oftentimes you couldn't swing a blade on a street without hitting a newly formed mercenary company. Perhaps it was for this reason you chose to head to the North, where the untamed wilderness would be a better place to seek one's fortune, and the lands themselves had yet to be broken by the passage of man and the slow creep of civilization. Perhaps in the shadow of the Spine of the World, you can find the adventure and glory you seek, and a chance to carve a name for yourself in the snow-covered lands.
Part of Myrmidon's description (pnp)
The Myrmidon is the ultimate soldier. Soldiering is his life. He may be a high-ranking officer or a career sergeant; he may belong to one nation's armed forces or may be a mercenary. To the campaign and the adventuring party, he brings discipline and a useful understanding of military tactics; he's often rigid and contemptuous of rugged individualists or characters who don't like to take orders, so he can cause a lot of friction in an adventuring party, too. When first created, the Myrmidon's player must decide whether his character is part of a standing army or a mercenary unit. If he's part of a standing army, he's employed as a soldier or officer in the army of a nation, large region, city guard, or even palace/castle guard. If he's part of a mercenary unit, he belongs to a group of freelance soldiers who hire themselves to just about anyone who can pay; or may be a personal bodyguard. If part of a standing army, Myrmidons must choose between Appollonia, Xanthios, or Shao Yan. Mercenaries can be employed in any locale. However, in the course of the campaign, the Myrmidon's employment can change, once or several times. He may start out as a mercenary bodyguard; later in the campaign, he may find himself commanding a small mercenary force in a border war; later still, he may accept a commission in the king's army and find himself a regular officer. The choice of whether the character is of a non-commissioned rank (such as recruit, private, or sergeant) or an officer's rank (such as captain) is initially set by the character’s social class (upper class can be an officer, all others are non-commissioned). During the character’s career, however, his commission can change as well.
Myrmidon's Biography (probably will be tweaked a bit in the coming days)
For many years you have served as a member of the City Watch in Neverwinter, year after year gradually harnessing and fine-tuning your skills. Having officially risen to the rank of Sergeant you have decided that life in the City Watch is no longer for you. You plan instead to retire and hire yourself out for work elsewhere. Work in the city has become increasingly tedious, and the risks associated with routinely dealing with the cities criminal elements was simply not worth a watchman's salary. Finding suitable employment would normally not be difficult, but you are looking for a bit more out of your work than being a cities or lords lawman.
Hearing stories of the struggles in the North you decided to inquire about opportunities for men for hire. One merchant in particular offered to garb you for such a journey provided you travel to the town of Easthaven, a small fishing village in Icewind Dale. For what reasons he did not say, though the garb he has provided you seems like it was designed to protect against the regions brutal cold.
Having some gold pieces in hand, and new garb on your back, you have decided to take up his task. You now travel to Icewind Dale hoping to find opportunity when you arrive. The price for your services are typically steep, and while the risks of traveling this far north are high you are confident that your own abilities will make up for any inexperience in these foreign lands that you may have. You have even gone ahead and sold off your old City Watch equipment, hoping in the end to start a new life in a place far removed from the petty struggles of Neverwinter's denizens.
So basically he won't deviate too far from a standard fighter. He gets some bonuses and some penalties that reflect his/her former life but it really is more of a refined fighter (since fighters themselves are already extremely capable soldiers).
I amend my earlier statements. I really look forward to playing: Myrmidon Tunnelrat (though the only background I found said that it was usable by Gnomes, not just halflings) Undead Hunter/any of Elminster's paladin kits Hivemaster Skald Dragon Disciple
and most of all the Battleguard of Tempus that is new to the IWD:EE games
Can you post some more details on the kits? Especially the fighter kit. What advantages and disadvantages does it have?
I'm working on a thread that will detail the kits. If I'm not able to get the mod out on the 30th then at the very least I will be posting that (on the 30th).
@booinyoureyes as far as I know its only halflings that get it. At least its just found in the halflings kit section of the Complete Guide to Gnomes and Halflings (and not the gnome kit portion). Gnomes do have the Goblinsticker, which looks similar in a number of ways. Anyways even if gnomes could access the Tunnelrat they won't at the moment with my mod because of its biography (it could work with a gnome but it is easier to explain with a halfling).
I forgot where, but I remember the tunnelrat being available to any "subterranian dwelling race". So by that logic Gnomes and Dwarves would be fair game.
But I forgot where I read that exactly so I cant provide a source.

Actually if we want to be correct: by level 3 gain proficiency (one pip) in every weapon.
Remember that before Zaknafein and Drizzt focused on DW scimitars, he first had to learn every weapon in the Do'Urden armory.
Also, AT least, high mastery in longbows at this point
especially since the original game didn't have kits either.

Yes, what?.. WHAT? O_O
As in "yet."
As in, "not presently, but perhaps IN THE FUTURE!"
And I was completely, 101% sure @Dee http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/comment/555960/#Comment_555960 said about kits we had't seen yet.

Stealth and backstab with fighter THAC0 and HP progression. Wouldn't run a party without one.
