Denizens of the Icewind Dale, your final hour is nigh. Apart at the seams this land shall be torn. All prepare to suffer and die. Before Oncenoble, the Blackguard reborn.
It appears my Halloween spirit has escaped early. Interesting. But yeah, I'll be playing Blackguard.
I really like the Shadowdancer! You may only get up to a x5 multiplier versus an Assassin's X7, but you can still dual at level 13 and then go fighter for grand mastery! You could do this with any thief kit, but shadowdancer can backstab multiple times in the same fight.
Also, my favorite part, you can stealth after initiating combat! Much more flexible if you are the party leader. You don't have to run a "stealth always" script, and deal with "You can't cast that spell on an invisible or sanctuaried party member." You can also talk to NPC's with your party leader easier.
This is all in my experience playing Baldur's Gate, though. I guess in IWD:EE you don't have to make the SD your main (first row) character.
Still looking forward to the Paladin kits but, unlike the OP and as odd as it sounds i think the Wizard Slayer will be very valuable in IWD:EE, as long as he can use healing Potions, there as so many mages in IWD and lots of magical effects to be resisted i am seriously considering this Kit.
If the level cap is really high like 8MillXp as in BG2:EE he will be very valuable.
*Walks up to thread whistling casually...drops the news that there are going to be new kits (other than the BG2EE ones)*
"JS: Are you adding in any extra original content similar to the Baldur's Gate: EEs? With no recruitable characters in Icewind Dale, you seem to be limited to just storyline or side-quest content. TO: We've added all the classes and kits from Baldur's Gate II: EE (as well as a couple of new ones)"

I suppose the fact that CamDawg is heavily involved into IWDEE and several his posts here and there for nearly 99% mean we'll finally get new cleric kits in IWDEE
"...cleric kits really are trivial to crank out. There's a ton of source material and little in terms of balance concerns--pick a god, make an ability or two, a few lines of code, and you've got a kit. I really just wanted something to mark the clerics as different and mix up the combat a little."
I would like cleric kits, but I would like something a little more interesting than "an ablity or two". Maybe something more along the linnes of a Divine Champion.
For example: it would be hard to imagine a Temple of Auril located in Candlekeep!
A temple of Talos in Candlekeep is also pretty hard to imagine.
No, because there isn't the same stigma, as shown by the existence of a place of worship for Talonites in Athkatla's Temple District compared to how Auril is viewed in Kuldahar.

Well yeah, but there sure isn't a temple of Talos in Candlekeep. I feel like an cleric of an evil god would be much less likely to end up as the protagonist than most other evil characters. Even if you are a blackguard, Gorion keeps you alive because he hopes that one day he can make you less evil. On the other hand, it is strange that someone could end up worshipping Talos in a place where you'd be encouraged to worship a more intellectual deity.
Long have you marveled at the tales read to you by your foster father, many gathered from the various holy books on the shelves of Candlekeep. The strength and power of faith inspired you, but the petty squabbles of the gods only filled you with disdain. From this you came to understand the monks with whom you share your home and the nature of their beliefs. Joining in their studies you have come to think of yourself as one of the Avowed. Some of the brethren, perhaps responding to Gorion's subtle urging, have graciously fielded your many questions and taught you much about the meaning and role of the priesthood.
You know little of how you came to be a ward of Gorion's, but over the years you have gleaned something of your mother's tale from his vague allusions and from the words he sometimes uttered in tear-filled sleep. She was a human from Silverymoon and a friend of his for many seasons. As you have no memory of her, nor any keepsakes to remind you of her existence, you have come to believe that she died while giving birth to you. Perhaps it was the pain of such a parting that led Gorion to cloister himself within the narrow halls of Candlekeep and raise you as his own. Of your father, you have learned nothing.
Straight from the default biography for a Cleric in BG:EE. Not exactly Talos-specific, but your faith in Talos doesn't necessarily have to mean formal training.
New kits for rangers will be interesting, although they are seldom mentioned:
Wilderness Runner, for example. A ranger that can set a trap. Marvellous!
- +10% resistance to non-magical fire and cold - Can achieve mastery with long bows and quarterstaffs - May use the 'Enhanced Charm Animal' ability once a day per two levels (starting at 1st level). This unique ability replaces 'Charm Animal', lasting twice as long and affecting all animals in the vicinity - Can set snares (starts at 20% and improves by 5% per level)
Ranger Kit: The Imitation Pros: -Begins with three pips in two weapon fighting. Can raise to four pips at level five. -Begins with 3 pips in scimitars. May add one more pip every five levels after 4th. -At level 9 receives two magical scimitars: one that provides fire resistance and one that can serve as a nightlight -At level 11 receives an animal companion. Cons: -Cannot put pips in any weapon other than scimitars and longbows -Animal Companion must be a panther -Must be Drow -Might face prejudice when living on the surface due to unfair and unfounded suspicions that they are shameless knock-offs of popular established fantasy characters. -Might be kinda lame

Single classed spellchuckers really got the shaft in OG IWD, but a sorcerer fixes that issue.

It could very much be the Cleric of Tyr kit in particular
And I have to say "Hooray!"
New kits bring so much excitement. I loved when they added kits into BGEE and I can't wait to see the new ones in IWDEE.
Perhaps.
Maybe.
For example: it would be hard to imagine a Temple of Auril located in Candlekeep!
I'm seriously hoping for Priest of Auril or a Barbarian Shaman (like Hjollder)
