Behind the door, your eye is caught by a wall of overlapping brassy scales. It is a dragon skin, somehow attached to the wall, the scales still bright and beautiful after all these years. At the west end of the room is a basilisk, frozen in stone, its menacing gaze forbidding, but no longer a threat. On the east wall, suspended on irons from the ceiling, is a dwarven skeleton, giving the entire chamber a macabre presence. Elsewhere on the walls are a variety of mementos, two sets of moose antlers, each on a large head, four dragon paws with claws extended, a stuffed cockatrice, a largish black shield which could only be comfortably carried by a giant, a pair of ram's horns, a pair of crossed swords, a bearskin, an entire door bearing religious symbols, and a set of three colorful flags prominently displayed which are recognizable as belonging to prominent barbarian tribes hereabouts.
Alora, who isn't very worldly, is confused by Anomen's comment. She isn't a virgin she's a halfling so what's he talking about? She decides to ignore him and go in search of treasure.
"I bet there's some good stuff in here," she announces and sets about searching for hidden compartments and secret doors.
Alora finds the basilisk and cockatrice very creepy and would rather not touch them. But she is greedy and doesn't want to miss out on any treasure. "Aren't cockatrice feathers valuable? I'm think wizards use them for something but I'm not sure what."
A cockatrice is about as large as a rooster. Yes, this is the skin of a sub-adult dragon, large enough to make scale mail armor from. It would probably cost a great deal to make, though. Aerie recognizes several of the religious symbols as belonging to Tyr, Helm, Beshaba, Bane, Ilmater and Tymora.
Okay, the next room is south and to the west. This room is empty except for a staircase leading down. (You have already been here, from the bottom level).
The last area is around the corner from the throne area. You see a closed door with a lock.
It took Jaheira quite a few moments to get over her disgust at Anomen's last comment, for she didn't think him the sort to try and seduce kindly Alora. She would watch, and persuade him against such action by using her handy, dandy orc clubbinator.
Seeing Alora's new acquisition Ajantis offers his advice, "You know, Alora, you could mount that thing on a pole and stick it into rooms first. The sight of such a beast might send a few ignorant orcs and goblins running for their lives."
Okay, Alora is able to open the door. This room is 30' by 20, with a section to the south that projects a further 20' to the west.
This is a rather simple room with few furnishings. The door to the room is similar to many you have seen in the fortress, but this one bears a piece of rough leather with the name "ERIG" studded on it in bits of brass.
The room has a crude bed to the southeast, alongside the bed is a table. On top of the table is a small stoneware crock with a cover. There is also a large earthenware tankard mug and a small hand mirror, covered in dust.
On the south wall is a locked wooden chest, and in the northeastern corner, a wooden keg stand with a single barrel on it, unbroached and untapped, labeled "SD". On the wall at the western extremity of the room are numerous pegs and brackets, apparently for holding arms and armor. It's mostly empty-all that are left are two shields and a heavy mace.
Alora will go in and check around. The first thing she will look at is the mirror. If it is a silvered glass mirror she will take it as it will be better than he polished steel mirror for looking around corners. She will then look in the earthenware crock to see if there is anything in it.
The chest is locked but not trapped. Alora is able to open it. Inside, she finds a pair of pants, several cloaks, a heavy cloth coat and two pairs of boots. A broken dagger and a leather pouch are at the bottom of the chest.
Inside the pouch is an unusual memento: A walnut plaque with an inlaid piece of silver engraved with the words: "To Erig, great and trusted fighter by my side, and Captain of the Guard at Quasqueton- Against all foes, we shall prevail!" It is signed with an embellished "R".

OOC: How big is a cockatrice? Can Alora carry one?

Alora is musing on this when she checks for traps and tries to open the lock on the last door.
