"Well if you want to fight them go and fight them," says Alora, a little testily. "No one is stopping you. But I think we should be more worried about the green stuff coming out of the mushrooms' heads. That's what I think we should be worried about. Not that anyone listens to me even though I am the leader. And I paid for everyone to get in."
Alora sits down with her arms folded and waits for everyone else to work out that if they stay where they are they are going to get killed by mushroom spores.
Minsc chops out at the nearest Piercer and connects with his sword, doing as much damage as he can possibly do (15!) He cuts right through the rock-like skin and cleaves it in half. It makes a despairing squeal and dies.
Jaheira looks to see if she can take any of the ones on the wall out with the long-reaching quarterstaff. "What I wouldn't do for a good stone and a sling," she muttered, even though her not having one was her own fault. After all, it wasn't difficult to find slings and bullets for purchase; she'd merely decided against, this time.
Frustrated at being shown up so horribly by Minsc the Barbarian, Jaheira then attempted to pry one off with her quarterstaff. She knew it was a terrible weapon for such an endeavor, but she was curious about these monsters, and eager to have something to show for her efforts. Especially, given that their leader (in name only) had taken to moping and sulking, rather than anything useful. Depressing, it would have been, had she allowed it to affect her.
Jan's bolts hit the carapace and bounce off (almost literally!) Jaheira attempts to pry one off the wall and fails, then gets irritated and whacks it a good one (this is one of the smaller ones). It falls off and squeals as it dies.
Arkanis warm up his axe's head with a torch, than lay on the ground. He move carefully low, than waves with the axe and try to get with it the piercers attention.
Half-hiding behind Minsc, Aerie pulled out her sling and loaded it with a bullet. It twirled above her head for a moment before the stone flew into one of the piercers--she hoped.
Alora talks to the uniducks: "I don't know why they are fighting. The piercers would ignore them if they just crawl away. I didn't even see any treasure in there. Just mushrooms."
Alora, staying well out of the firing line, keeps a close eye on the grate to see if anything noxious emerges from it.
OOC: So, i thought that piercers sense rather movement or body heat. Of course there's a chance thet they sense living creatures somehow (pulse or life force maybe), in which case Arkanis should use the uniducks as bait
"Anomen, attack them from the ground seems a safer solution, but your suggestion sounds more exciting, let's try that."
Arkanis go back to Anomen and prepare his shield.
"Don't bother with the fallen ones, just parry the flying ones!"
"All right," Jaheira cried out, as the piercer she'd stricken was far larger (in her mind) than the ones taken by others. It was a lot like fishing, in that respect. They still had no plans for the mushroom pit, but they'd cross that fungus bridge when they came to it. Regardless, these were very tough creatures. Apparently, this phony dungeon was a sadistic trap, created for sport. Her guess was that the human brat-child (who was not guarding the door, as directed) knew a lot more about what they would encounter than the party did. Her intention was to grill him in short order.
OOC: I wonder if I can make them stick to my shield and use them as a weapon
OOC: The genesis of troop projectile weapons! And the first guided physical missiles, which makes up for the mages with their silly 'never miss' guided wisp (they call them 'magic') missiles...

OOC: step one collect living missiles. Step 2 attach missiles to shield, step 3 cover shield with cloak, step 4, remove cloak from shield when facing an enemy to do surprise missile damage before fight even begins. Pure cheese. Just dont know if anomen is smart enough to figure it out.
LadyRhian, please give yourself time to get better. It is no good if you keep forcing yourself out of the hospital, for whatever reason, to just go back again. Take time. Work and this adventure and other things will wait as long as you are getting better.
Onuz! I'm too low level to cast Cure Disease. But I can make an herbal concoction of strange elven-named plants and boil them in water and you can breathe them and suddenly be...
Blah. I'll leave it to the actual medical doctors. Rest well, drink your fluids and we'll see you on the sunny side
