Alora's sling goes flying out of her hand, lands in the frog's pool, with the stone still inside, and sinks out of sight in an instant. it is gone.

"I meant to do that," shouts Alora a little unconvincingly before drawing her short sword and running into the fray.

OOC: I'm not sure if Alora gets to strike this round because she has to move from ranged to melee but if she does here is her roll:

    Minion, roll 1d20 for Alora

Minion is making everyone miss today. Except Alora, who critical fumbled. And so did the frog. Also, it takes up too many posts. If I roll at home, I can get a round done in one post. Ah well, choices.

OOC: perhaps you can keep your rolls hidden and if we attack or attempt to make some sort of check we roll it (excluding search or find traps). So when we perform an action, we roll at the same time.

Alora finally hits the frog with her shortsword, impaling the frog right through the chest. Put off balance by all that weight on the metal, she falls backwards, and the frog lands atop her, feebly squirming as it bleeds all over her. The rest of the party that skewers and batters it into death.

Alora feels like a building fell on her, metaphorically.

    @deltago That's fine with me.

Ajantis and Jaheira lift the frog off Alora, who is covered in frog blood. "Helm gave you the strength to kill the beast," Ajantis tells Alora gravely. "I'm afraid your sling is gone forever, though."

Alora, from her position on the ground, however, can see a set of human bones with something wooden sticking out of it nearby, along with a pouch caught on a low-hanging tree branch.

"I'm all covered in frog," sobs Alora. She tries to use the swamp water to wash the frog blood off her. "I want a hot bath," she wails. "And some cake," she adds as a hopeful afterthought.

Then she sees something and suddenly the fact that she is coated in frog guts doesn't seem to matter so much. "Look, there's a pouch on the branch of that tree!"

She hurries over to see if there is anything shiny in the pouch.

After that she will examine the set of human bones.

OOC: Does the wooden thing sticking out of the skeleton look like a stake driven through the heart of vampire or is it something less sinister?

The pouch is full of rotting cloth, along with six silver buttons and a gold buckle, apparently from the bits of cloth when they were whole. There is also a stylized snake amulet on a thong. The wooden object is a bow, somehow miraculously preserved from the damp, rotting vegetation all around it. The bowstring needs a little wax, but appears to be in fairly good shape.

Alora will show the snake amulet to Aerie and Neera to see if they think it might be magical. Then she will offer around the bow.

"Hey guys, can anyone use a bow? I'm not very good with them. I really need to find another sling."

The snake amulet just seems to be something that any member of wherever its from would wear. It's not in any way magical. It's made of bronze, but pretty well made.

The bow is very well balanced. But no one took it as a weapon skill, as far as I know.

You weren’t really good with the sling either. You should attempt to learn how to use it. At least you won’t be pitching it into the water or hitting us with misfired stones like you have done in the past.

You see Boo... I told you evil stinks....

Beyond the pool with the frog, the path continues south, but wends its way slightly eastward. From there, you turns more easterly, until Minsc once again halts the party.

Minsc suddenly stops looking at the ground ahead of him scratching his head...

It can be no good Boo... keep your eyes and nose open...

Alora mutters to herself that if she hit Anomen with a stone it was on purpose not a misfire but she keeps the bow just in case it comes in handy later.

"What is it Minsc? Have you found some tracks?"
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
"Froggy boots," Minsc says, sounding puzzled.

Jaheira holds up her hand. "I will scout ahead," she says.

After a moment, she returns, her eyes blazing with anger. "Someone has imprisoned a lizard in a cage. I will the bastards what done it, I will!"

She visibly draws in on her anger, leaving her calm, at least in appearance, once more. "The ones who did so may be around. I suggest caution." Then, her eyes blaze once more. "And bloody vengeancw."

Alora isn't very keen on lizards but she feels this might not be the best time to mention that to Jaheira.

"Do you want me to go and see if I can unlock the cage?" asks Alora (secretly hoping that the answer will be no).
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
"We should all go," Jaheira said. "Who knows how many of these imprisoners of wildlife there are?"
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
"Okay, lead the way," says Alora, lurking in the middle of the party and looking round anxiously for bad guys wearing frog boots.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Jaheira leads the way forward. The path through the reeds and onto an island of sorts, where the ground is agreeably firmer underfoot. The mist thins a little and, in a small clearing, you are confronted by a cage of stout branches crudely lashed together with creepers.

Inside is a huge lizard, its tongue lashing between its massive jaws and its eyes watching you hungrily.

Then, two frog-like humanoids launch themselves out of the trees, screaming at the top of their lungs.

"Bullywugs!" Jaheira cries. She spins her staff to face the creatures. "Ware, attack!"
