Alora runs. Aerie sets off two sling stones. One hits a wall and whacks Ajantis for 6 points damage. :P The second misses, but not nearly as wildly. Anomen stabs the Carrion Crawler for 10 points damage. Arkanis misses. Jaheira misses. Minsc misses. Ajantis, though wounded by the sling stone, hits the crawler for 8. It is, unfortunately, still alive.
The thing's tentacles blow back as though whipped by a mighty wind, then flash forward to touch Jaheira, whose body seems to freeze in place, turned into a statue by the crawler's paralyzing touch. It wins initiative and tries to paralyze Anomen, but the tentacles cannot touch his skin through his armor. It does, however, cause him to miss when he tries to stab it again.
Once again, Aerie misses with her sling, but Arkanis's Axe chops its head off, killing it. Jaheira is still paralyzed, and Aerie is embarrassed (I'm assuming here.) Everyone gets 80 exp.
With the thing dead, now you can see the rest of the room. It looks to have been some sort of closet, but a very barren one. The bolts of cloth that the Carrion Crawler was standing on are stained, incredibly dusty and moth-eaten. You can't even see what color they were supposed to be. When you try to unwind it to look it immediately starts to disintegrate. A few dingy-looking robes hang from pegs along the wall. Most are unremarkable, but one is decorated with patches of leather on the elbows, shoulders and where the knees would go. The leather is studded with bits of bronze, making the whole worth about 15 gp. On one of the walls is an empty oil lantern (Bullseye Lantern), still in excellent shape, but with- as noted- no oil.
The small 10' by 10' portion at the back of the closet holds a rosewood stand with four large books. They appear to be in fairly good condition, but are closed.
Another corner holds a table, covered with papers, all extremely dusty, held down by a small slab of marble emblazoned with a carved "Z" in script. The letter has been picked out in a very thin coat of gold (less than a coin's worth). The papers are currently unreadable.
"A-Ajantis, I'm so sorry!" Aerie's face burned a bright pink as she cast her final Cure Light Wounds on her comrade. "I-I was trying to help, but I suppose I should have stayed back..."
"It's quite alright, Aerie. I'm fine now. No permanent harm done. I thank you for your healing prayer."
Ajantis glances at Jaheria, "I'm told her paralysis should fade with time. We'll have to guard her until then. I'm afraid I have no means to remove her affliction."
OOC: Oh Neera would definitely do it "accidentally." Oh no I tripped over nothing and fell into Jaheira, knocking her over. Must be that crazy Wild Magic again! Fortunately Neera doesn't know everyone comfortable enough atm to start doing stuff like that on her own. Persuaded however. . .
I'm afraid you are all out of luck and you will have to do your own dirty work when it comes to druid tipping. Jaheira is currently on the 'Friends of Alora' list, right at the top with hearts and flowers around her name because she turned into a bear to save Alora from the mean dolphins.
However, you might all want to take cover, because something in the room description has caught Alora's eye:
The small 10' by 10' portion at the back of the closet holds a rosewood stand with four large books. They appear to be in fairly good condition, but are closed.
Alora, being a firm believer in the power of education, thinks all 'closed' books need to be opened. She will check for traps first but then she will start opening the books to see what they contain.
The first one is in Common and seems to be a history of the surrounding area. It mentions something about a fabled 'Spring of Healing in a temple in the mountains.
The second has plenty of pictures of plants, amazingly detailed, but Alora can't read a single word.
The third book is also unreadable, being filled with strange writing and runes. It appears to be handwritten, slightly messy and in more of a scrawl than anything.
The last is again, unreadable by Alora. But it's a printed book, with notes scrawled in the margins. The book itself seems to bear writing similar to the second book, but the notes have some of the same runes as the third book.
OOC: Actually, the Pool is in this fortress, this spring is something else entirely...
OOC: Alora will look suitably sheepish when Anomen points this out to her (as no doubt he will).
Once Jaheira is able to move again Alora will go to the door in the southwest of the room and check for traps. Once the party is in position she will open the door.

It takes about 20 minutes for the paralysis to wear off, and when it does so, it's all at once, proof that it's a magical effect. Jaheira discovers that the book is written in Elvish, and is compendium of plants.
Both Aerie and Neera cannot make heads or tails of the third book. But the fourth book is also in Elvish and discusses the weather and other magical phenomena. Apparently, the notes in the margins may be comments or the equivalent of highlighted text… but it's still impossible to read. It also has many illustrations, but far enough back in the book that Alora missed those…
The second door opens on a 20' long passage that ends in the glitter of gold. Two iron-bound chests lie thrown open, gold spilling out around them. Precious gems and items of jewelry wink out amidst the splendor, which fills Alora's eyes with metaphorical "$" signs...
"By the gods..." Aerie breathed. She'd never seen such riches in her entire life, and she was an elf--she's lived a long time. She fixed Alora with a sharp gaze, a warning. "This...feels entirely too easy."
*Anomen is also stunned by the wealth that lays in front of them. It is a temptation, one he fears is a trap. He also thinks it will teach the girl a lesson if it is*
"What else is new?" Jaheira was in an ill temper, as she still felt rather stiff, and that wasn't the worst of it. The sense of helplessness, while held by those unnatural magics, was horrible. To Alora, and more loudly, she said, "It does not make sense for so much gold to be here. This does seem more a lure and a trap than anything we've seen yet. Have a care."
"Given that empty drawers are trapped in this place it does seem unlikely a trove such as this would go unguarded, but even without a trap such wealth could prove to be a curse."
Ajantis closes his eyes and concentrates on the room, sensing for any evil creatures hidden from view.
Comments
Ajantis attacks as well, mindful of the increasingly crowded combat conditions.

"No fire burns quite like friendly fire," he chuckles, "Be at ease, such things happen in combat."

OOC: The "new" Carrior Crawler looks like someone stuck Groucho Marx's head on a Carrion Crawler body and Ron Swanson's mustache…
*Looks at Jaheira, shakes his head and walks away*
Ajantis glances at Jaheria, "I'm told her paralysis should fade with time. We'll have to guard her until then. I'm afraid I have no means to remove her affliction."
And post 8008, yo. (Of the ones that still exist, that is.)
(Neera would totally do it too. )

She gives Anomen the first book. She will save the second book for Jaheira and she will give the third and fourth books to Neera and Aerie to study.

Besides, after studying this book, this stream ogmagical healing seems to be in a different part of the region.
It is a good alternative if this rumour of magical ponds here turns out to be false though.
Do not touch thrm Alora. I will not help.
