I only use my smart phone to look up when the bus is coming, check out various websites (for restaurant reviews, menus, etc), and text friends. So how intelligent they become is not my concern...at least until they become sentient anyways.
Edit: I was beaten to it by Kamigoroshi so my reply was to BGLover. I'm leaving it anyway.
False. Though we shouldn't ignore the tragedies that happen today, I think the world is a better place than it used to be.
The reason why it looks worse it's because nowadays information travels pretty much instantaneously around the globe. Now you know about every single clusterfuck happening everywhere.
And I suppose that doesn't make a different to the starving children of Africa and the war refugees in Europe (not that it should), but every study out there shows that with every passing decade the world becomes *less* violent, disease and hunger-ridden. Society is also little by little becoming less sexist and homo/transphobic. Today you get things like MRAs and the Tea Party exactly because people with this mindset are feeling threatened instead of totally comfortable sitting on top of everyone else.
To sum it up: there's a lot of suffering out there that we should eliminate, but we're making progress and it's nice to keep that in perspective.
Anyway, about owning hammocks:
False. Though a lot of people would be inclined to think that in my country we have that instead of beds.

Yes. Shamefully I am counting down the days till Survivor starts. Not my favourite show, but one I watch and have been anticipating since the last season ended.
