But you will probably still identify it before you try it on so it does not matter if just the icon (and location) is randomised. It doesn't solve their existence to usage.

Hunting the zombies in the northern farm with a party of ranged specialists is the best part of BG1.

Well, yeah, but some of the eeevil chars aren't all that reliable either. Sarevok and Viccy turning good, Korgan having a soft spot for Mazzy, Dorn betraying his patron to gain his freedom, etc.

Chateu Irenicus is leagues better than 90% of the dungeons in BG1.

Agreed with my own version: BG1's dungeons are so bad/boring/frustrating/repetitive that they make Chateau Irenicus look good ;)

Minsc is a terrible and un-funny character who is cringeworthy; and in Baldur's Gate 1, borderline Chaotic Neutral.

neera gets way to much hate but i may be biased due to her setting things on fire.

Edwin is the worst party member to me because his personality is as one-dimensional as it can get, his spellslot gimmick is an absolutely dreadful way to implement a character and his epilogue is by far my least favorite of the lot.

To be fair, I am biased in that I’m predisposed to like good-aligned party members while evil-aligned ones need a lot to impress me. I don’t really dislike any good NPCs - no, not even Nalia.

I agree that Edwin's abilities are pretty dreadfully implemented. I like his personality, though. Can you think of a better way to make Edwin stand out? Your other mods are awesome, so perhaps you can think of something for Edwin, too?

Particularly the improved Chateu Irenicus. :)

Love them, but the problem with them is that when you've done them once, you've done them. What you need is for the maths to change from game to game so that you have to re-do them every game.

I'm not likely to expand original NPCs any time soon and even assuming I do, there are others that would be higher up on the priority list (e.g. Yoshimo, Cernd, Hexxat). I suppose the first thing I would do is nerf the stupid necklace in favor of some actual stats tone down Edwin's joke character status and give him some actual competence to back up his insufferable ego.

It's good that you recognise your opinion is so unpopular. :)

The epilogue is crap but I always feel the writers were trying to create a monster, somebody everybody would hate and not only that, somebody it's totally OK to hate. Realised they ballsed up bigtime and instead created the best character in game, and it's simply a way for them to save face.

Though this maybe a female/male divide of opinions. :D

Garrick is the best of the bard NPCs (in terms of personality)

"Heya, its me, Imoen" is endearing and not annoying

    @booinyoureyes

and @Ravenslight , @Wise_Grimwald , @Dev6 , and everyone else who agreed with that post:

    'Cause I'm confused now.

That was a non-sarcastic agree from me.
  • UnderstandMouseMagicUnderstandMouseMagic Member Posts: 2,147

An actually unpopular opinion I see!

No I'm not being sarcastic. I love Imoen. She's the adorable little sister I never had.

Not only that, but "Heya, its me, Imoen!" is more than just a great greeting by a beloved sibling; it is the sign that a great adventure is about to begin. The game truly starts when you leave Candlekeep, and Imoen is the one who welcomes you into the great world of Baldur's Gate.

Also, if you don't like the line, perhaps this video will change your mind

    Get out of here. :p

If she's the introduction to the "great world of Baldur's Gate" I'm joining the suicide at the cliffs.
And I'll jump whatever you say.
