But you will probably still identify it before you try it on so it does not matter if just the icon (and location) is randomised. It doesn't solve their existence to usage.
The evil NPCs in the BG series (in general) are more reliable and trustworthy than the neutral ones.
*Ponders for a moment* Safana selling you out (and cheating on you), Yoshimo betraying you, Haer'Dalis undermining your relationship with Aerie, Skie getting you into deep shiznizzle in Siege of Dragonspear, Garrick stupidly leading you to follow Silke (thespian extraordinaire), Neera wildsurgin left and right...

It checks out.
Also, Faldorn turns evil and you're forced to kill her, Cernd runs out on his family, and Anomen needs to be carefully steered away from a murderous rampage. The only reliable neutrals are Jahiera (neutral in name only), Xan, Jan, and Branwen.
Well, yeah, but some of the eeevil chars aren't all that reliable either. Sarevok and Viccy turning good, Korgan having a soft spot for Mazzy, Dorn betraying his patron to gain his freedom, etc.

Reliable to Charname. Not reliable to their alignments. An all evil party is actually more stable and has more reliable people in it than an all Neutral one.
speaking of dungeons. i never do durlags's tower or watcher's keep as those puzzle type dungeon just arnt my thing. the one time i did do one of them Trials of the Luremaster in iwd i hated it.
Edwin is the worst party member to me because his personality is as one-dimensional as it can get, his spellslot gimmick is an absolutely dreadful way to implement a character and his epilogue is by far my least favorite of the lot.
To be fair, I am biased in that I’m predisposed to like good-aligned party members while evil-aligned ones need a lot to impress me. I don’t really dislike any good NPCs - no, not even Nalia.

I agree that Edwin's abilities are pretty dreadfully implemented. I like his personality, though. Can you think of a better way to make Edwin stand out? Your other mods are awesome, so perhaps you can think of something for Edwin, too?

Love them, but the problem with them is that when you've done them once, you've done them. What you need is for the maths to change from game to game so that you have to re-do them every game.

I'm not likely to expand original NPCs any time soon and even assuming I do, there are others that would be higher up on the priority list (e.g. Yoshimo, Cernd, Hexxat). I suppose the first thing I would do is nerf the stupid necklace in favor of some actual stats tone down Edwin's joke character status and give him some actual competence to back up his insufferable ego.

It's good that you recognise your opinion is so unpopular.
The epilogue is crap but I always feel the writers were trying to create a monster, somebody everybody would hate and not only that, somebody it's totally OK to hate. Realised they ballsed up bigtime and instead created the best character in game, and it's simply a way for them to save face.
Though this maybe a female/male divide of opinions.
No I'm not being sarcastic. I love Imoen. She's the adorable little sister I never had.
Not only that, but "Heya, its me, Imoen!" is more than just a great greeting by a beloved sibling; it is the sign that a great adventure is about to begin. The game truly starts when you leave Candlekeep, and Imoen is the one who welcomes you into the great world of Baldur's Gate.
I was being serious. But then I also think fondly of the “You must gather your party before venturing forth” line.
I also adore Irenicus’s Dungeon. The atmosphere, the music and sound effects. The first chilling scene. Waking to find yourself at the mercy of a madman when you have no idea why or what he wants from you. Starting with nothing, clawing your way to the surface.
Much like when Imoen first greets you in BGI, it helps set the stage. It feels personal. An epic adventure has begun and you are smack-dab in the middle of it.

Nice civilised thread and you drop a bombshell like this.
Currently I'm so triggered I think I need a lie down.

Also, if you don't like the line, perhaps this video will change your mind

Get out of here.
If she's the introduction to the "great world of Baldur's Gate" I'm joining the suicide at the cliffs.
And I'll jump whatever you say.
