@Dave Thanks! Maybe you'll join us one day. :)

@LadyRhian I'm not allowed to play anything for the next seven months, and then only if I stop accumulating deadlines. I don't like my chances.

@Dave Deadlines are worse than bunnies for accumulating.

"Let us follow these boot tracks to their source, and if it does indeed turn out to be skeletons in boots, a most ignorant assumption, I shall buy both Xan and Kivan a glass of wine back in town."

With that Edwin follows Minsc toward the middle door, a smirk working its way playfully onto his face.

Lost about halfway through the babble of Edwin, Minsc agreed. "There is too much whining in this party for the tender ears of Boo." That last was for Kivan and Xan, who were specialists in 'whine'. Lifting his leg, he gave the door a full-force kick and prepared to smite any and all evil that reared its ugly head when Minsc approached. Sometimes, he wondered what it was like for Evil, knowing that Minsc was at large, and huge.

OOC Remember when I said we would never surprise anyone in this adventure? Now I'm sure every monster/villain in a 10 mile radius can pinpoint where we are. :)

OOC: @mlnevese Reminder. INT 8, WIS 6 is all kind of stupid! I always hated that he was too eloquent for his stats. The key is to convince him that being quiet is a better way to fight evil. Not that he'll remember, but it's worth a try :D

OOC @reedmilfam A quiet Minsc? Evil has to KNOW Minsc is coming or how will it properly tremble in fear?
  • reedmilfamreedmilfam Member Posts: 2,808
OOC You, you, you! You are as smart as Boo, sometimes

Can skellingtons hear us making noise? They haven't got any ears.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
The door flies open... revealing... another empty, decaying bedroom without furniture. From the doorway, the floor here doesn't look particularly safe. Some floorboards are missing while others appear to have suffered partial collapse. Out the window is the best view of the coast you have yet seen. Something about the shape of the cliff and the land around enables you to see the coast best here from all the windows in the house...

You hear a thumping noise coming from the next room to the east...

I don't know why, but skellington sounds like some British noble.

    Duke Skellington.

I'll draw my sword and get ready for whatever may be coming from the east.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Nothing comes, but the thumping noise gets louder and more insistent.

I load my sling and attempt to hide in the shadows (i.e. behind Minsc)
  • mlnevesemlnevese Member, Moderator Posts: 10,214
I'll go check it out, opening the door slowly.

OOC Maybe he's Duke Ellington's brother?

Tamoko places Maise safely away in her pack---this thumping noise bodes ill, she believes.

I don't actually know who Duke Ellington is. I've heard of his name before. Maybe Duke Skellington is the undead version of Duke Ellington.

Here he is, Lord Skellington. ;)

The door to this room is closed and locked... being the only door with an internal lock.

    Minsc, make evil tremble...

Duke Ellington was a jazz musician, principally known as a band leader and arranger but he was also a gifted pianist.

With my brand new lockpicks I will attempt to open the lock (checking for traps first).
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
The lock is clean and easy to work and appears to have been freshly oiled. This is another dirty, filthy bedroom, the floor, as in the middle room, appears quite unsafe, with broken and missing floorboards. In the far corner of the room lies a man, gagged and hogtied. He sports a black eye and is dressed only in his underthings. He's been stamping on the floorboards with his feet, and when he sees you at the door, he slumps and stops his stamping, hanging his head as if in relief.
  • katastrophekatastrophe Member Posts: 404
Tamoko casts detect evil, trying not to attract the man's attention in doing so. After the incantation is complete, she's going to check if the man is as sparkly-black as she is.

OOC: I'm assuming it glows white or black or grey to determine alignment or some such.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
I'll tie my rope around my waist and get Minsc to hold the end. Then very carefully I will cross the floor, checking for loose boards. I will take the gag off the man (being careful in case he tries to bite or kick me)
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Alora finds that the safest route is skirting the outside of the room. Luckily, the man is in the corner, where the floorboards seem soundest.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
I'll go round the edge then but I'll check the ceiling and the walls as well in case anything nasty is lurking in the room.
