In case anyone is wondering, I found some detailed system requirements on the paradox interactive website.
PC System Requirements Minimum Processor: Intel Core i3-2100T @ 2.50 GHz / AMD Phenom II X3 B73, Memory: 4GB RAM, Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4850 or NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT, HDD: 14GB free space, OS: Windows Vista 64-bit or newer Recommended Processor: Intel Core i5-2400 @ 3.10 GHz / AMD Phenom II X6 1100T, Memory: 8GB RAM, Graphics: Radeon HD 7700 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570, HDD: 14GB free space, OS: Windows Vista 64-bit or newer
Mac System Requirements Minimum Processor: Intel Core i5-540M @ 2.53 GHz, Memory: 4GB RAM, Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 6750M or NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M, HDD: 14GB free space, OS: OS X 10.6.3 Leopard 64-bit Recommended Processor: Intel Core i5-540M @ 3.40 GHz, Memory: 8GB RAM, Grahpics: Radeon R9 M290X or Nvidia GeForce GTX 775M 2GB, HDD: 14GB free space, OS: OS X 10.9 Mavericks 64-bit
Linux System Requirements Minimum Processor: Intel Core i3-2100T @ 2.50 GHz / AMD Phenom II X3 B73, Memory: 4GB RAM, Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4850 or NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT, HDD: 14GB free space, OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit Recommended Processor: Intel Core i5-2400 @ 3.10 GHz / AMD Phenom II X6 1100T, Memory: 8GB RAM, Graphics: Radeon HD 7700 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570, HDD: 14GB free space, OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit
I've got a 7 year old desktop with a 2.53 core 2 duo processor, 4gb of ram, and a 1gb ati radeon 4670 (I think) video card. So I probably can't run it
One of the Obsidian devs said the real requirements are actually lower. They raised the official specs at the request of their QA team, presumably so they wouldn't get a flood of hate posts saying their game doesn't work. He also recommends turning off anti-aliasing (I think...now I'm second guessing my memory. My 9 month old son woke me up at 2am and I couldn't go back to sleep!) in your computer's graphic settings and lowering the resolution. I'll see if I can dig up the post on the PoE forum.

Good to know. Divinity Original Sin runs fine on it so it probably would work on low settings. Personally I'm just shocked game accessibility wise its lasted as long as it has.
I just played a little bit on a laptop that's somewhere near the minimum specs, and there were no problems whatsoever. It wasn't slow, and the graphics looked great. I don't think I'm getting much sleep tonight. ^^
We just played it for a little bit here in the office. Looks great so far!
How do I get a job like that? I wana play games in the office. LOL (seriously, I know you guys work HARD, just a little bit of fun and ribbing on my part).
Well I've purchased it and its downloading. Given my general luck that can only mean my ancient computer will experience hard drive failure sometime in the next 3 hrs

MY laptop is below specs and it seems to run fine, it occasionally slows down a bit but so does itunes so I think it's windows
Good to hear...I'm waiting for the update to finish downloading then I'm going to try it out on my laptop, too. Unfortunately I have to get up at like 4am tomorrow, so assuming it runs, I'll probably create my character then hit the hay.
My wife just informed my, all apologetically, that she has plans to go out with friends both Friday and Saturday nights. I tried my hardest to sound a little hurt. "Well, if that's what you need to do...I'll just stay home by myself, I guess..."
Personally I think I'm going to go with some kind of sadistic, yet very resolved priest for my first runthrough. Probably a death godlike who worships Skaen.
I love how most of the reviews are 90+ then one or two people give it a 1. I guess some people either really hate the game or are trolling.
Eh, that's pretty standard for Metacritic user reviews in my experience, which is why I consider looking at the user score to be fairly useless. Too many fanboys and/or haters voting at the extremes, making the average unreliable.
Hooray! It's running on my laptop pretty smoothly. I've only played a couple of minutes so far, but it seems to be fine. It doesn't want to work very well on my Mac, though, even though it's got a lot more horsepower. It's unplayably choppy.

That's why you look for the average reviews, the 6-8. The written review is usually more balances explaining things that the player liked and didn't like and not just "Awesomely amazing!!!!1!" or "Stupid game won't play on my XXXX so zero!"
This game (thus far, granted I just got home a few hours ago and have been waiting to play all day) is a absolute pleasure in every regard. The games system specs look steep, but I have to believe after playing that they are vastly overblown. The game is beautiful, but hardly a graphical powerhouse, and far less of one than Divinity: Original Sin.
Even the opening FEELS like the beginning of the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale saga, but in it's own way. It's obvious even before leaving the caravan camp that this is it's own world, but one that is firmly rooted in the games we loved that came before it. But it also has the added benefit of hindsight and technology. The lore and journal system, the incredibly intricate stat and ability system. It's everything a fan of the Infinity Engine games could have wanted it to be, and more. It's premature to call it a masterpiece before even playing 3 hours, but it just oozes something really special.
Been following this game since the kickstarter was announced. I remember making a special video on my channel to entice people to back it. I guess that wasn't really necessary after all :P
I'm thrilled to discover this world, the combat system, the dialogue, everything. I really friggin' love Josh Sawyer. This game will redefine expectations, in terms of reactivity, character choice (no combat XP being a huge enabler in that regard), scope, quality of dialogue, and most important to me, UI (seriously they did about everything I was wishing BG:EE would do in that regard, and more).
I initially feared it would be somewhat generic and be completely schooled by Tides of Numenera when that comes out. But now it's a much more open-ended question how it'll compare to ToN. I still think ToN will liberally kick butts but perhaps only in a different way than PoE.
I made an oversized moonlight godlike and playing as a priest of Berath.
Man I wish I could discover it. But I get a crash to desktop after the splash logos. I think it's some adverse reaction my machine is having to Unity-based games; Sunless Sea is also afflicted.
