A Review of Custom N.P.C.s Old and New - 'The N.P.C. List'

Hello! I am writing this Non-Player Character list here to get an idea as to what 'direction' the collective community has taken in terms of creating Non-Player Characters in comparison to the base game. I have my own spin over my direction within the community so please understand that I have bias and favourites. I am trying to put the best of the communities' best on 'The N.P.C. List' *please argue a strong case for or against a character to be put on or put off of 'The N.P.C. List'*. I am creating this with the desire to see what 'The N.P.C List' looks like to better help myself understand how all of the Non-Player Characters compare to one another all at once instead of having a great big note war! Perhaps I can make a friend or two along the way here for I am using this forum to show my work and to act as an archive back up as I change and alter the below Non-Player Characters to my heart's content. So without further ado - let the games begin! (Well the game of existence and or future mod compatibility I suppose O. 0)

    Uh... are you talking about NPC mods? Because your list refers exclusively to Dark Side of the Sword Coast and upcoming projects, and there are a lot of NPC mods. Over fifty last time I checked.

    Yes, if you have a favourite / you fancy (a) certain community made Non-Player Character(s) and are wondering why they are not here, point me in their direction or (hopefully ^.^) please give their details and a reason as to why they could be an immersive Non-Player Character. Also I want to have Non-Player Characters who's author(s) I can talk to and be allowed to work with. I do not want to step on any content creators' toes for it is hard enough to find friends as it is here with such (relatively) low numbers of community content creators. Although I do realize that I am missing a lot of solid community made Non-Player Characters. So please mention the solid community made Non-Player Characters - I would rather have 'The N.P.C. List' full of Non-Player Characters that come from every corner of the community than from just a handful of places. Although I want to work with the creators instead of against them.

    They can be from anywhere, they all go into Baldur's Gate :-P.

    Edit: I really enjoy Sirene, I will have to find more out on her and what the plans are around the character. Thank you @shawne for showing me Sirene, I had no clue such a great Non-Player Character was available.

    Blue is readable. The best is just uncolored. That renders as white on black on desktop and black on white on mobile.

    Vihane's scarred lips curl into a smile as you speak to him. Born to an elven mother and human father near the Forest of Tethir, the half-elf experienced a relatively normal childhood until his thirteenth name day. Seeking to purge the borders of human influence, the Eldreth Veluuthra--a militant elvish group--attacked his family's home. Pressing a small blade into his mother's hand, Vihane's father ordered them to flee and charged toward the attackers. As they ran into the forest, a single elf raced after them, gutting the boy's mother in front of him. Vihane picked up the short sword and struck at the murderer furiously, suffering several gashes across his face before killing him.

    Alone and bleeding, he wandered for two days until reaching the small settlement of Mosstone, where a priest of Waukeen treated his wounds. Taking odd jobs throughout Tethyr and Amn over the next few years, Vihane gained a reputation for his talent with a blade, as well as his keen intellect and ability to garner information. It was the latter that brought him to the attention of the Knights of the Shield, who recruited him as a spy.

    Since that time, Vihane has reported to the head of the organization in Athkatla. Ordered to accompany its emissaries to Baldur's Gate for the negotiations with the leaders of the Iron Throne, he was tasked with a more clandestine purpose: to investigate rumors that a high-ranking individual in the Iron Throne may have other motives. Hearing of your group's encounters with them, he sought you out, hoping to discover more. However, you can't help but wonder if he has an ulterior purpose...

    (Author's Note: Anomen Delryn should have at least 11 Intellect and 17 Wisdom in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. I find that 10 Intellect is un-suiting to Anomen's character and that 12 Wisdom is just -frankly- too illegal (and that is saying a lot from a person whom champions the odd illegal characteristic 0.0). Also if these changes were made to Anomen Delryn in Baldur's Gate: II it would 'fall in line' and be akin to the other game spanning companions. As in where instead of having Anomen's abilities be decreased when going into Baldur's Gate II he would actually have an Ability Increase (e.g. +1 Charisma).

    Haer'Dalis' short swords Chaos Blade and Entropy were stole by a [fake] 'Pirate lord - first mate' while he was performing in the tavern at Ulgoth's Beard. Since then one of the patrons to the 'salty tavern' has tipped off Haer'Dalis (after the 'thief' in question skipped town with substantial gambling debts) that the 'plunderer' sailed off to Baldur's Gate. Also it was speculated by the lead that the robber was probably trying to sell the swords off to a rich noble arms and armour collector in Baldur's Gate ('statue' noble?) that he boasted about robbing while we has playing cards -drunk. This 'pirate-first mate' can be later found at the Baldur's Gate Docks at night out side of the ship tavern. When the wanna-be-famous-pirate is eventually confronted in Baldur's Gate he says something in a rum drunken stupor to the tune of: "Thar be that thar bloody Ol' fancy dancy Bard over at that Ulgoth's Beard joint ain't cha? *Guurrp!* Fine tune ya canna be sungs butta cha does ya no goods fer lil' ol me done stolen ems' right O' under yeah's nose! Bloody Ol' things ain't no workin's a better thenna Ol' limp sticks as fer as erm consern'd! I'ya blasted can't be a usen' thems fer a.. *Hick!* Swingin's at nothin's! Thar cursed-fangled swerds an' notta one lick on the Ol' tang an' clatter outta thems thar hears! An' ta booty theys be done don'ts be sellin's no mighta goods neither! *Burrrp!* Bestta' I j'st cut me losses anna' be a runnin' fer me ships now.     This exquisite master-craft cutlass radiates slightly a humming of electrical energy from within its blade when drawn close to the ear. It is easy to understand just how this cutlass received its moniker from over the years of sparks, as it becomes readily apparent after a clean blow is struck upon its target and a hundred sparks leap forth from the cutlass's edge and unto it's victim with a satisfying electrical crackle. Oddly enough though with such a well known nick-name and sword's minor fame throughout the Sword Coast, acquired by the blade's unmistakable combat display; its true history and most of the founding details of the cutlass's origin are shrouded in mystery. Although from what can be divined there are always loose stories that tell of a strange land that accompany any recounting of this magical cutlass's murky and unkempt history. The first known owner of this powerful cutlass was a pirate who had just returned to port from the Chultan peninsula. As to find out the full history of which port in particular that first harboured the blade is made uncertain for there are a few different versions of this sword's story with their own spin on its recounting floating about within the many ports that dot the Sea of Swords. Although from what can be stemmed together and ascertained is that soon after first known owner set landfall, she was murdered while in a drunken stupor, and while under rather suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and of the blade's subsequent disappearance there after. What made her death even more suspect was that then soon after her death, the marvelous cutlass had came to reemerge shortly there after on the swashbuckling girdle of a swaggering Pirate Captain some days later in and around the ports of the Isle of Mintarn. The name of first known owner to have wielded this worthy sword and her story of how she originally acquired the weapon remains to this day as much of a mystery as does the true creation of this enchanted cutlass.

    This is Jet'laya's personal suit of chain mail armour. This extremely light chain mail armour is woven of very fine mithral chain links and was forged for Jet'laya by her twin brother, Rennar. As with other suits of Elven chain mail armour, those of the thieving profession will find little hindrance to their craft while wearing this suit of chain armour and warriors with a magical process will find that this is an ideal suit of armour for their particular craft of magic and blade. The mail of this armour suit is close fitting and has a very slight tolerance for body sizes and ratios, thus effectively making this chain mail armour's protection an exclusive boon only those of Elven decent. Most other races will find themselves unable to effectively utilize this armour without becoming nigh-completely constricted by the precisely sized mail that would make them unable to have full movement of their own body within this Elven mail armour suit. In addition to the precise sizing nature of this particular suit of Elven chain mail armour, this mail suit also has an additional magical ward placed upon it by Rennar to only allow only those of worthy mettle the ability to don this otherwise very ergonomic, well breathing and near featherweight fine suit of mail armour. Well that is only if one finds themselves to be an Elf or a Half-Elf.

    This is the personal shield of Jet'laya. The wood that the shield is made from was cut from a tree in a holy forest, and the metal used in the construction of the shield was forged in holy water. Thus just being in the presence of this shield causes all but the strongest and most stalwart of undead to shy away from its wielder.

    This ring belonged to Jet'laya's mother. It is of elven origin and contains a strong enchantment that protects Jet'laya from coming under the influence of charm spells and effects.

    -Mace of Contrition (+4 vs. Undead when reforged via Thunder Hammer Smithy to combat her quest's Lich)
    This magical mace was crafted by a zealot named Parias. With it he planned to "bring the heathens into the light." However, he was so over zealous in his quest that he killed his wife and family for not "walking in the light." After realizing what he had done, he buried the enchanted mace, confessed his sins, and starved himself weeping at his wife's grave. This mace was later found and named the Mace of Contrition since Parias' sins had grieved him so gravely.

    Jet'laya's mother gained this azure cloak while in the service of the Elven goddess Aerdrie Faenya. Blessed by the priestesses of the Lady of Air and Wind, the cloak provides some protection from the elements. Although it appears to be a solid blue from a distance, a closer inspection reveals an ornate pattern of interlocking feathers woven through the fabric. Jet'laya's cloak is the color azure as is proper for a Feywarden of Corellon.
