    The thing is, I don't believe in The Thing the way it was presented in "The Thing" movie. I mean, the things it is capable of are just unthingable.

    Sorry for necroing this thread, I will create a new topic if needed, but after the latest news regarding an incident, I thought it in the best interest to attempt to rekindle this topic and see if people's opinions have changed.

    What has happened is by far, probably the tipping point when it comes to this discussion and if people don't act, then all might be lost.

    Your thoughts?

    Which can be both a noun and an adjective, as in ''that thing has a very thingy quality''. I am also a fervent advocate of the word ''thingness''. People often don't grasp the full spectrum of how things can be things on all kinds of level. At some point in our evolution, we may even devise different things to call different types of thing.

    Get real, people. Denying the problem won't make it disappear. This is just the same as when people said that kind of stuff didn't exist because ignoring it was easier than dealing with it. And we all know what happened eventually with that kind of stuff, don't we?
