@Troodon80 , I assume you're referring to the conversation we had with "Tim" last night. I didn't have a bad reaction to his questions. He seemed genuinely surprised that anyone paid attention to lore and story in an mmo. Since I have quite a few hours of experience with World of Warcraft, I'm very used to playing with a mix of people, some of whom enjoy roleplaying, story, and lore, and others of whom just enjoy the grinding, leveling, and collection of legendary items and achievements.
I tried to explain my point of view to him the best I could, and I figured he'd either learn something about the world of people and personalities being bigger than he had thought before, or he'd think "Man, these people are lame", and leave the guild. I made sure to tell him I didn't think there was anything wrong with the way he enjoys the game. I hope he heard me on that.
To me, it's all good.
Although I see the problem in that we didn't start out to create a "typical" MMO guild, and the dream was to have a place for forum regulars and Baldur's Gate fans to meet and play together with like-minded people.
With the other side of the coin being that we are a pretty small niche group of people, and we're never going to have all the guild structures and boons that we might have if we expanded our membership.
I like @Buttercheese 's idea that we could reserve the officer channel for forum members.
I've been meaning to point out, @Shandyr , please be careful with guild ranks. I have a lot of experience with this from WoW. Guild ranks cause guild drama, with people getting their feelings hurt and sour grapes all over the place. I suggest having "recruit", "member", and "officer" ranks only, with the same criteria for everybody who joins the guild to become a full "member". Probably two weeks at recruit, then you're a member.
If anyone asks about "How do I become a guild officer", we say, "Well, all the officers were founding members, and what we had in common is that we all play Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, and that's how we met, and we founded the guild to play together in a D&D Forgotten Realms multiplayer setting. So we mostly just use the officer rank for other people from the Beamdog forum. We're happy if we can get anyone new to try the Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition game, and maybe join the Beamdog forum and participate there with us, but we don't require that in any way."
If they're fine with that, they're fine with us. If they leave because they can't be an officer, then they were going to cause drama eventually any way.
I'm closing this thread because I don't think it could continue after the last several comments.
Everyone involved - take a deep breath, shut down your computer and go for a walk. Then ride a bike. Then go into a restaurant, try something new. Read a book. And then come back and think if you really want to play a particular game. It should be fun, and it shouldn't lead to a disappointment.
Also, I moved all the off-topic comments to the moderation holding area. If someone wants this thread to be re-opened, just PM me or any moderator about your wish.
Yo, I need some help picking my final gear. I play a control wizard specialized on shock magic and life drain. Looks are not important because of transmutation, this is really just about the stats.
You might want to try and increase that crit chance a bit more. The Lostmauth artifact set should be pretty good then, even if the added base attributes (STR and DEX) are not BiS for CW. An alternative would be the Black Ice set damagewise (but apparently not as strong as Lostmauth's) or the Valindra set if you like control effects.
As for weapons, most people go for the Drowned set you get from the level 70 quest "Weapons of Water" which you can pick up from the Archdruid NPC in Protector's Enclave.

PS: What about armor?
I like it that he's back, he is so flippin' useless, it proofs the writers' humor >.>
