"Val'myr Zaur was a son in one of the many Drow noble houses. For practicing forbidden Necromancy sanctioned as heresy by the church of Lolth he has been sentenced to death. To avoid such a fate he has now escaped to the surface world bringing his dark magics with him."
@Shandyr I think this could be fun. What kind of time investment are we looking to at reach level 15 as required? What kind of time investment are you looking for in guild (founding) members?
You guys are really making me want to try this. I wish the timing were a bit better. (As I said, I just spent my bi-monthly gaming budget of $25 per two months on MMX, and I want to get my money's worth out of that and get it out of my system, which should take at least another couple or three weeks.)
Maybe I can be a "Johnny come lately" if this Neverwinter forum guild thing takes off among forum members.
One thing I do worry about is that whenever I try a game based on the ftp business model, I always wind up spending way more money on it than I can afford. (For me, more than $25 U.S. is "more than I can afford".
I played one normal level run of Path of Exile, and I spent $25 on my crusader for a golden glowing helmet and golden angel wings. I got a lot of enjoyment out of playing the game that one time while wearing them, but I deeply regretted wasting my money on them later, since I didn't care to play it any more after one run through the game content.
I also spent a bit more than $25 on a Hearthstone avatar, some card packs, and an expansion (that promised more cards that were important to the power curve at that time), and I regretted that.
@Shandyr , I really appreciate your leadership in trying to build a mmorpg guild for forum members, because if you can get it to work, I think it would be totally awesome to be able to interact in real time in a game with other forum members, without having to worry about all the issues inherent in BG multiplayer.
One thing that would really help to make this an awesome thing, is that in a mmorpg, the time zone differences between the U.S. and Europe would be less separating. People in a mmorpg can group up and play easily and spontaneously, around the clock, at whim, according to their various schedules, without having to go through the headaches of making appointments or feeling pressured to play at specific times.
I know that when I was in WoW guilds, I often got into the habit of just logging on sometimes to see who else was online, and would occasionally work on my professions or fishing while having conversations with guildies, on days when I had to work and could not actually play seriously.
That might be kind of nice to have a mmorpg guild like that with forum members from here.
Okay, I can't resist. I'm going to try it now. Unfortunately, it says it wants to download over 8,000 MB of patch files. I'm not sure how long that will take.

Sorry @BelgarathMTH At least it's free to play, I've not put any money into it at all so far and don't intend to.
I think I will give it a shot, besides starting Monday for the next 2 weeks, I usually have tons of free time, usually im not a fan of the MMRPG or whatever its called, but if the game style play is fun enough, I will join as well
Welp, this game is sadly going to be a no-go for me. I spent about 30 seconds after making my character and starting it before I realized that the controls for it are absolutely unacceptable to me.
The game wants you to control ii with the left hand on the keyboard, and there is no way to remap those controls. Making matters even worse, it will not accept input from my programmable mouse buttons, such as F for interact, which one input change might make it playable for me. If I could even remap interact to a key on the right side of the keyboard, I could make it playable. And what's with the dependence on shift and alt to control? That seems crazy to me. If only they had all the controls remappable.
It won't even let you do anything whatsoever using the mouse pointer, until you're in some kind of menu. On the game screen itself, all you can do with the mouse is look around. No moving, no accessing inventory, absolutely nothing you can do with your mouse except move the camera.
No moving forward by clicking both mouse buttons, basically no critical game functions at all with the mouse. The whole thing is built from the ground up for left hand keyboard control only, and has next to zero control customizing.
::shakes head sadly:: It looks like a great game. I wonder why they made the controls so rigid? It might work for a lot of people, but to me, as I said, it is absolutely unacceptable.
Oh well, it was free to try it. I wish I could participate in the game and the new guild. But I'll be uninstalling this from my computer immediately.
I agree it's not great and takes a lot of getting use to. I use the shortcut keys for everything but having to use Ctrl and Shift combinations is annoying. At least you gave it a go and like you said it's free to try.
I made a halfling guardian fighter named Stoat Ferretson. He is now level five. I now wonder when I'll be able to join the guild. It isn't very fun by myself.

Looking at it I'm either interested in the Ranger or Warlock. Ranger seems to have the jack-of-all-trades thing going with ranged, melee, and magic.
Going to try out Warlock first, though. Since I can't make Piro (no gnomes) I'll make Val'myr as a Drow Scourge Warlock!
Making the character now, going to sleep soon but I'll spend tomorrow after work playing it n_n
Name: Val'myr Zaur
Race: Drow
Class: Scourge Warlock
Origin: Northdark Exile
Deity: Kelemvor
Strength - 11
Dexterity - 13
Constitution - 15
Intelligence - 13
Wisdom - 9
Charisma 18
He worships Kelemvor but disagrees with the deity he worships in some ways. He plans on using Necromancy to fight Necromancy!
THAT'S MY FAVORITE PLACE
