So it *is* Tazok, but @Blackraven already said that on the page before this one.
Wait, seriously? I just looked back and found out that @Blackraven ninja'ed me on the previous page--I said "not quite" in response to Oopah by @Skatan, but then, @Blackraven posted Tazok while I was writing that message, but before I sent it--causing me to miss it! So it looked like I had said "no" to Tazok, but I hadn't actually seen that post. And then, somehow I misread @Skatan's post pointing out @Blackraven's answer (presumably because it was referring to a post I never saw), which is why I posted hints 8 and 9!
Well, that was bizarre. Anyway, @Blackraven got it, and I'd like to thank @Skatan and @smyth25 for trying to alert me to the post I missed.
As for the hints:
1. Tazok is the strongest in the bandit camp, but he is also the brains. He berates one of his underlings for making a risky decision without him, saying "You don't think! I think!"
2. Tazok says Firkraag has "a special bug in his craw" about Charname.
3. Tazok is a half-ogre, and ogres say "Me will crush you! Crush you to goo!" in BG1. Thus, a half-ogre would presumably crush you halfway to goo.
4. Tazok tests your strength at the bandit camp by combat.
5. You fight Tazok once at the bandit camp, a second time at the final battle with Sarevok in BG1, and a third time when he reappears in BG2 in Firkraag's lair. In BG2, though, he has a different sprite and one of the dialog options suggests that you don't recognize him.
6. Tazok says his new master, Firkraag, is smarter than Sarevok, but Firkraag actually has a Wisdom score of 3.
Firkragg's Wisdom might be 3 in the code (although canonically speaking I find that very hard to believe) but low wisdom does not equal low intelligence.
Firkragg is 100% smarter than Sarevok, but wiser? Nah, I don't think so. Not even close.
True, but you don't normally think of a highly intelligent critter as having a Wisdom score that low.
I think Firkraag's Wisdom score nearly makes sense. It would explain why he went to so much trouble just to inconvenience, rather than kill, one of his enemies. It would also explain why he leaves anti-dragon weaponry lying around his lair instead of destroying it.
1. I'm among the bloodthirstiest beings you'll encounter. 2. Despite my prowess I prefer to operate covertly. 3. After a lot of soul-searching my mission became clear to me.
Ding - ding - ding! We've got a winner Well done @lolien.
Most are self-explanatory, but the one about the "hollywood cop" is that I usually think of "Taggart" from that movie when I read his name, hehe.. yes, that was a long-shoot, I know
1. He leads the pit fight (in Ust Natha) somewhat like Baeloth.
2. He give you gold if you defeat the monsters in the pit.
3. When you win all the monster fights you can challenge him to fight with you, but he refuse it and say "i'm no match for your skills".
1. Always talking about hate and stuff.
2. Was conceived from the diseased ones' pathos and hate for their current ordeal.
3. Can only be killed by casting a healing spell on it.
