No, that's not it. Bassilus may be making new friends, but he's sticking with the dead ones only. Also, Kelddath Ormlyr wants him dead, but I doubt they could ever have been considered friends.
She's called "Illasera the Quick" but she just stays in one place, getting beaten.
She's a member of an elite group of Bhaalspawn but she's really a pushover.
And after the fight you are drawn into the Hellish subplane and you can never return to the Grove of the Ancients.
1. I never fight smaller opponents--unless you're really bloodthirsty, I guess.
2. My enemy has three epithets: two physical, and one metaphorical.
3. Maybe I could solve world hunger, but not everyone would like my solution.
1. She won't attack you unless you attack her (or eat her eggs...).
2. Jon Irenicus (The Exile, The Coordinator, "Shattered One") stole her eggs.
3. She's a silver dragon, of course she could "solve" world hunger.
4. Self-explanatory.
5. Her only living kin are her eggs, and she would do anything to get them back.
6. Sounds like Hagrid. Do we have cannibalistic half giants in BG?
Edit: I have no idea why the unpleasant way to solve world hunger immediately means cannibalism to me... could be something else entirely, like eating bugs...
6. Far away, one of my people loves furry spiders. Here, it's the other way around.
--> This one got me thinking about Pai'Na, but that would make the answer to your riddle a half-drow as well, if they are kin..
Solaufein? I seem to recall a dialogue about him hating the Spider pits. I can't think of anything about 2, as Phaere doesn't have any epithets that I know of, but number 1 is possibly about him not wanting to kill the Deep Gnomes.
I'm impressed at the remarkable guesses you all have made. They were very creative, and I didn't consider any of them.
I like how this played out. There are a whole bunch of very oblique clues with special meanings. Here's the full breakdown:
1. I never fight smaller opponents--unless you're really bloodthirsty, I guess.
2. My enemy has three epithets: two physical, and one metaphorical.
3. Maybe I could solve world hunger, but not everyone would like my solution.
4. About the second clue: my elven enemy earned his epithets from his egregious behavior.
5. I have a strong connection to my kin.
6. Far away, one of my people loves furry spiders. Here, it's the other way around.
7. Clue number 3 does mean eating bugs!
8. I am much too stringy to be Centeol.
9. I have few living friends, and many dead ones.
10. I'm a new face from a new race in a new place.
1. M'Khiin is found in a pit fight with a squirrel, which she refuses to fight, and there are no enemies smaller than goblins in Siege of Dragonspear (imps and mephits per PnP are actually comparable in size). You can, of course, order M'Khiin to kill a squirrel or rabbit elsewhere in SoD, if you're really bloodthirsty.
2. M'Khiin's enemy is Baeloth. She calls him three names: silverhair and nightskin, referencing his physical appearance, and "snake," a metaphorical epithet.
3. M'Khiin's last name is Grubdoubler. If you could multiply grubs indefinitely, you could solve world hunger, though not everyone would like the food.
4. Baeloth is known for his alliteration.
5. M'Khiin has a connection to her fellow goblin kin, but it's been severed and she's alone. She is, however, very close to "my kin," because her name sounds a lot like it!
6. In Icewind Dale 2, there's a goblin named Pondmuk who wants to eat spiders and will reward you if you give him some. In Siege of Dragonspear, M'Khiin will notice a goblin that was half-eaten by a spider. In IWD2, goblins eat spiders, but in SoD, spiders eat goblins.
7. See explanation 3.
8. M'Khiin mentions that goblins are "stringy meat" when referencing the half-eaten goblin. Also, M'Khiin is a lot skinnier than Centeol.
9. M'Khiin is all alone as a goblin before you befriend her, but she can summon the ghosts of her ancestors with a special innate ability--she can call on dead friends even if she has no living ones.
10. M'Khiin has a new portrait, is a race that has never been a playable character in the IE games before, in a new game.
@semiticgod that explains my complete lack of knowledge I've yet to play more than a second of SoD beyond just checking it installed properly in my Enhanced Edition Trilogy setup!
@semiticgod , you're wicked! Clue number 4 with the alliterations screamed "Baeloth" as the enemy, which led me to M'khiin, but the following clue "close to my kin" fooled me completely, because she doesn't like her kin. I never thought it could be a reference to her name!
I haven't played IWD, so I didn't get number 6. With number 9, it was finally clear.
That was tough!
Oh gods and Nine Hells, now I have to think of one...
1. I am found in a dark place, and so is my namesake.
2. If you don't kill me when we first meet, I will change. But I will scream silently.
3. When we meet again, it might not be the last time, although you have to kill me.
It's a long shot, but is it Quallo's friend the Carrion Crawler?
1. He's found in the Athkatlan sewers, but you meet many a Crawler in your adventures in caves.
2. (Doesn't quite fit.) You might be tempted to kill him when you first meet him, given his namesakes. He won't make a noise, though.
3. Eventually you do have to kill him, to collect the Blood of a Friend for a quest; still you'll meet more Crawlers later.
Comments
I'm quick, but I don't use my speed.
I'm elite, but few recognize me as such.
Once our fight is over you will leave, never to return.
She's called "Illasera the Quick" but she just stays in one place, getting beaten.
She's a member of an elite group of Bhaalspawn but she's really a pushover.
And after the fight you are drawn into the Hellish subplane and you can never return to the Grove of the Ancients.
Your turn!
2. My enemy has three epithets: two physical, and one metaphorical.
3. Maybe I could solve world hunger, but not everyone would like my solution.
Edit: Probably not.The second clue doesn't fit.
(like maybe specifying the second clue, just a little bit?)
4. About the second clue: my elven enemy earned his epithets from his egregious behavior.

Maybe she could solve world hunger by leaving a few portions for the rest of us...
8. I am much too stringy to be Centeol.

You're up next, @Arvia! Congratulations!

1. refers to a namesake, and only one.
2. and 3. refer to actually the same creature, not a namesake
4. My namesake is human.
