Garrick's voice is a a gay joke, or a girly man joke, or whatever you want to call it. His character is of course straight as we see in BGII, but really, in his voice there's very little mistaking it.

I guess that's a very plain question, I'm just sure that Minsc is just extremely gay guy but not a gay, as simple as that, just like in that dialogue at Umar Hills where he claims that he occasionally turns mad, but doesn't turn out to be a mad (man) on a daily basis. Truly people think it's their god given conviction to be offended at everything. Don't be offended there are no gay characters in BG, it is a game and it wasn't Biowares responsibility to shove their social commentary down our mouths by adding gay characters to satisfy the small number of people who seem terribly upset if one of the game programmers doesn't stand up and say 'So let's add a gay one to show the gay people we got them'.
I've talked about this before so to quickly stop anyone butchering me over my disapproval of this thread, I don't object to gay characters in BG.

There are some gay/bi potential NPCs in Baldur's Gate, i could name Eldoth (no doubt), Imoen (no doubt), Kivan (maybe), Xan (no doubt), dynaheir, Garrick (not too much but maybe, who knows), Safana (no doubt), Viconia (no doubt), Shar-Teel (i tend to see her as the most lesbian character in the game, but maybe is just me).
There are also some potential NPCs in Baldur's Gate II, as i could name Haer'Dalis (no doubt), Viconia (again, no doubt), Imoem (again, no doubt), Vaylgar (maybe, i would prefer it not for roleplay pruposes), Nalia (always felt her like a lesbian, but who knows).
Minsc SURELY isn't among the possibilities.
I can barely see a romance working for Minsc, that could even be possible maybe as straight, but as gay? Can't see that working.
Don't want to offend minsc, but he would need to be gay, understand himself as a gay, and position himself for what he want, however he's just not inteligent enough for that, he would be completly lost in the 2° point.
If the thread is made as a joke i don't know, but surely he became that even before my first post, but since is the first post working the overhaul NPC gay possibilities, i took it as an chance to post some beliefs of mine about which NPCs could be gay and which don't.

Regardless of his potential to function in an actual relationship with anyone, surely Minsc would have a sexual orientation in the same sense that everyone has a sexual orientation. Why would his intelligence affect who/what he is attracted to?

It's not an extension of the argument in the "Gay Romance" thread, but rather a lighthearted discussion about one of Baldur's Gates most colorful characters. If you read some of the other comments you can see that it is way less serious than that other thread.
