Kryll can be taken out with Dorn by himself, without any help from charname. A very easy battle, but that's the whole point. It's not satisfying in any way.
Yes. The reputation threshold for getting the "evil" abilities is < 10, while the reputation threshold for a paladin falling is somewhere around 6. You have to be careful, but it's possible. (Though not very consistent with roleplayed lawful good.)

In the end I decided not to try, though bribing the Flaming Fist would have lowered reputation to 9.
Whilst killing Drizzt could be counted as a mistake, bribing the Fist couldn't.
Every time that I do Melicamp's Quest I get neither the experience nor the boost in reputation. Has anybody else had this problem? I have looked on Google but couldn't find anything.

Looks like something messed with Thalantyr's dialogue; the XP and reputation should be attached to the exit response after Thalantyr's final words, when Melicamp survives. That dialogue looks exactly as it is normally except for a lack of that final action.
Bow and arrow, sling and bullet, throwing axe, mustard jelly glob - if it's ranged and makes an attack roll, it benefits. Same conditions as for getting the attack bonus from DEX.
In multiplayer games is it advisable to play with an unmodded installation? (I have access to the other person’s computer so I could easily ensure that the installations are identical.) There are a few quality of life improvements I’m loathe to give up, not to mention removing the XP cap with a party of 2 or 3.
@Mantis37 I've played MP in the past using a relatively lightly modded installation - I don't remember there being any more problems than you get in unmodded MP.
Hey there, hi there, everyone! I hope all is well here in Beamdog land.
I've encountered a bug in my current run, over at TavernRPG. I'm running a canon party. We're in the Windspear Hills. I'm trying to remove Yoshimo from our party and it's not working. I click Reform Party, as per usual. I then click his portrait and confirm, as per usual. His portrait then disappears, as expected, but it immediately reappears. He never initiates the dismissal dialogue. He's just there, in the party, as though I never tried to remove him.
Interestingly, the problem is restricted to Yoshimo. I tried removing Nalia, as a test, and she behaved as expected.
That's a new one for me. I don't think I've ever heard of that happening.
Does he reappear while you're still in the "reform party" menu, or only when you leave it? Might there be a tiny window of time where you could leave an area while he's out before he re-joins? Perhaps a short sequence of screenshots of the behaviour might be helpful.
It’s new to me too. The hilarious thing about it is that I’ve added Yoshi for boss fights, and then dropped him immediately afterwards, repeatedly in this run. It’s almost like he’s protesting. Hell no, he won’t go.
The odds of finding a quick solution here seem low, so I’m just going to reinstall. If the problem persists in the new setup we can play detective
I did a full re-install and I still can't remove Yoshi. Interestingly, I went back to an old save, before the last time I released Yoshi, and he popped back into the party again. I can't remove him in any of my old saves.
It gets stranger. I can remove Nalia and I can remove Aerie, but I can't remove Jaheira or Minsc. Half of my party is affected, half isn't.
I'm thinking I should check the files of my party members and see if there's anything common to Yoshi, Minsc and Jaheira, but not Aerie and Nalia.
EDIT: Huh? I tried installing the SCS NPC management component. I still can't remove Yoshi. Weird.
This component allows to respec NPC and gives them same XP amount than main character. It doesn't affect NPC removing.
Thanks for the input! In the past G3 offered a NPC management component that influenced release, offering additional options. Those features have by now been integrated into the EE, though, it seems.
I wasn't surprised that attempt didn't work. It was a long shot. My puzzlement was directed at the bug more generally.
You could try instead to replace Yoshimo by another NPC, then kick this NPC ?
I could try that, but Yoshimo's presence isn't burdensome. We're leaving for Spellhold soon anyways. My interest is in identifying the source of the problem.
As a test I tried opening my save in an unmodded install. I was able to remove Yoshi without incident.
Since the bug carried over into a fresh install with SCS, but not a fresh install without SCS, it seems to have something to do with SCS. My suspicion is that it is related to the Revised Handling of Death Effects component. The behavior looks precisely the same as what happens when a party member is petrified. The portrait disappears and then reappears on the same time scale in both cases.
I had uninstalled and then reinstalled that component earlier in this run when it led to a bug of sorts in a waylay area. The component was not active when I removed and added Yoshimo earlier in the run. It was active when I couldn't remove him. I'm going to try installing SCS without the Revised Death Effects Component now. We'll see what happens.
Got it! In a fresh SCS install without the Revised Death Effects component I can remove Yoshi.
Evidence suggests that the bug is related to that component. My working hypothesis is that it only appears if you uninstall and reinstall mid-run, which is why it hasn't been reported.
The fireshield fix is one of the components in my tweak mod. I'm not happy with everything there - I have a "next version" update stalled out - but that component should be good. It'll also be in the "EE Fixpack", but that hasn't released.
Oh, and I reported that death effects bug over at the SCS forum. For the record, which SCS version was it exactly?
Comments
In the party is also a paladin.
I was wanting to get the Bhaalspawn ability of horror rather than cure poison. Can I do that without the paladin falling?
In the end I decided not to try, though bribing the Flaming Fist would have lowered reputation to 9.

Just wondering if it is possible to return if we leave to resurrect her.
Since this is no reload, I am in two minds as to whether to do it at all.
That's weird. Healing him doesn't do anything. I think that he is dead!
How did that happen?
Will it be possible to raise him in future when I have more spells?
If I did, how would the game react?
EDIT
As I thought the game can't cope with him being raised.
To complete the quest I presume that you have to say that he died peacefully.

As an FYI, I tried this, as a test. I ended up with seven party members and a frozen interface. Bizarre.

If it is working as intended, where can we find it?
