"Crapcrapcrap! Everyone move! We can't let them surround us! Ignatius, can you magically enhance my voice?"
*Fiora readies her broom in one hand and raises her sword to the sky. Concentrating she makes it blaze forth in a brilliant blaze of light, hoping to intimidate/distract the orcs from her companions*
In case I'm away, if Ignatius can amplify Fiora's voice, she will warn them to leave the city alone or be struck down. In any case, she will hop on her broom fly to a safe distance when they approach closer. She use the height to find places of cover or defense and coordinated quick ambush attacks designed to kill a few orcs and then retreat to safety. Trying to wear the force down and at the very least, turn them away from the city.
"I can try my best to do so, So that far and loud your voice will go."
Ignatius casts Summon Swarm at the orc hordes, and then uses the scroll of Ventriloquism on Fiora to project her voice so that it emanates from the buzzing multitude of creatures in the swarm and effectively gets amplified.
Vaga looks at Nanna in disbelief "When I asked you if you had any magic, I didn't mean GO AHEAD AND FIRE ALL THE MAGICZ!!! Ahem.. well, the game is on. "
Vaga can't really do much other than fight. He rummages around in the shared inventory (ahem.. the pockets of his comrades and the inner sanctum of his thong) and produce the Wand of Levitation. He waves it around aimlessly, in a caricature way. "Hey, some of you magicky fellas can make me fly with this, right? If we get risk of getting swarmed, you could elevate me and Marco with this and we can all fly away. Fi can take Nanna on her broom." He throws the wand towards the general area of Ignatius and Nanna, hoping one of them picks it up.
Vaga then takes up a sizeable chunk of shurikens and prepare to throw a flurry of them as soon as the first enemy is in range.
@Nimran, feel free to roll attacks from Vaga as soon as you decide when orcs are in range of ranged. I don't know in 3E if thrown weapons have lower range than bows, but I assume they do so Marco should get a round before I can attack perhaps?
True. There's a line where playful innuendo becomes something very different and something very un-funny. I hope my comment above didn't cross that line. If it did, I apologize sincerely.
*Nanna picks up the wand, then fondles her necklace of fireballs lovingly.*
As I walk in the shadows of death I will fly like an angel and cry tears of flames on those that oppose me. All will cower as I bring them out of the shadows and into the light of my flames. They will burn in the truth I give them.
*Nanna uses wand of levitation on self and flies towards the biggest grouping of orcs (to drop a bead from the necklace on them (whichnI presume will be the next round/turn).*
This is not happpening because I am not real. I am the shadow...
A swarm of bats encircles the closest orcs, catching 19 of them in the spell, as Ignatius suddenly becomes visible. As the cloud of vermin continues to swarm, those orcs caught inside of it are clawed and bitten to death. The remaining 13 orcs manage to halt their charge and avoid the swarm.
Oh, I see. My mind was passively thinking that they were somewhat similar to high-Constitution mid-to-high-level half-orc barbarian Charnames. Now, I realize they are more similar to those orcs in the Icewind Dale prologue.
Having halted their advance, the orcs seem unsure of what to do, when Fiora’s voice suddenly echoes forth from the swarm. They are all obviously spooked by the voice, though they stand their ground. That’s when the bead gets dropped. Every orc dies in the large explosion of fire.
Holy crappalicous Batman! I should have played a caster type! It would take Vaga 50 round to rolling perfectly to kill 50 orcs, hahaha!
Vaga stands in equal awe and dread looking at the mayhem and destruction Nanna and Igna unleashed with their magic. He realizes that even through all his training and with tens of years of more training, he could never accomplish anything similar.
For the first time in a long, long time, Vaga doesn't know what to do.
And so, the party marches through the night back to Callus. They are halfway back to town when the sun rises, and they see a figure on the horizon to their right. The rising sun illuminates the figure for them all to see. It is Ixion, the scorpionman, and he is looking right at them.
"You are great the way you are, my little floating friend. Just keep your flames in control, and let's go talk to him. Stay behind me, we both know I'm better at diplomacy. You may be a pyromancer, but I am a diplomancer!" Vaga smiles and chuckles at his own joke.
"Fi, Nanna, are you with us? Cover us when we approach and be ready to fly us.. " Vaga looks at Igna, always levitating ".. ahem, fly me out of there, if there seem to be danger."
Vaga starts to walk towards Ixion but try to use his perception to make sure it's not an ambush (perception check please).
Haha, its funny that Igna has 18 CHA but even if Vaga's WIS score may be high it doesn't allow him to be self-perceptive about his own faults/flaws.
As far as Vaga can tell, Ixion is alone, and he seems somewhat amused by the party, as he smiles at them when they approach. When the party finally gets close enough to hear him, he says “This is quite bold of you, coming out here to meet me. I would have let you pass if you had just kept going, but you went and brought yourselves right to me.” He chuckles. “And what, exactly, do you want with me, hmm?” he asks.
"Well, talk for starters. You see, my friend, we care for this town and we will protect it with our lives. We obliterated the sapper party you sent out and we will obliterate your army as well. In your heart you know this will be true.
..but it doesn't have to end this way. Lay down you arms, let your army return home and disband, and let's just talk about it."
Vaga throws a quick glance backwards and make sure he has the team guarding his back. He moves a bit closer, but not close enough so Ixion's tail or weapons can reach without Ixion first moving and Vaga has a chance to react to it. Vaga also make sure his ring of jumping is safely on his finger. He have never tried its magic, but perhaps soon will be the time for just that. He can jump to safety or he can jump right into Ixion's face, he will choose depending on the outcome.
"What is it your desire?"
Anyone recognize this line? A cookie point for you if you can spot the quote!
“My army?” he asks with a contemptible sneer. “Please... if they were my men, you would have died against the sappers, and we wouldn’t be having this little talk of yours. These aren’t soldiers, they are children playing war. The king may have ordered me to guide them here, but he never told me to lead them in battle. As for my weapons...”
He pulls two long, crystalline spears off of his back and levels their cruelly shaped tips at the party. “If you want them so badly, then come and try to claim them,” he says threateningly.

Your secret is safe with me. When you take out your Rod of Rulershipm I don't want to know, though.
This is a very good thing! That whole "Rod of Rulership" always made me look a little side-eyed at the game!
No, I was just making a joke. Nae worries!
A distraction. An elaborate distraction...

Oh wait, they were already badly injured by Nanna's Fireball, weren't they? Anyways, the swarm finished the job!

"Why do they always fight? *Sigh* We should report back. Our job is done here."
"Proceed we must, with utmost haste,
Before the enemy lays the town to waste."
"The broom doesn't have much room, but I think there is enough room for both of us."
If Anduin accepts the invitaion FIora will immediately ehad back to town with her. Other wise she will go alone."Keep going, I don't feel like testing ourselves against him right now."
*Fiora will stay on the broom with Anduin and watch Ixion from a safe distance*
"Gramma, can you be ready with spells in case he tries something?"
*Fiora keeps watch for any threats to the party below*
"Let's go talk to him, he seem to have come alone. Put all thoughts of skullduggery away for a while and let's just meet him. Who's with me?"
"It would be nice to say him "Hi!"
And see what he has in mind.
But how should I appear to his eye?
As I am or as one of his kind?"
