Wild Surge Issue 10
The Fan Fiction Issue
If you are fond of reading prose,
You are in here for a fine dose.
So take some time in calm repose,
And sit and watch, as my verse goes.
No hardcore rules are there at best,
For creativity trumps the rest.
So putting that spirit to test
We held a Fan Fiction Contest!
The friendly folks at Wild Surge here,
Have spun tales from afar and near.
So all, by the fireside, gather,
To lend these tales your curious ear.
In a tribute to Baldur's Gate,
And companions you love and hate,
This issue we sought to create,
To deliver you something great!

From one of the first non-playable characters the player can meet in the game, to the protagonist’s mother, to a recruitable mage, to the scheming of the Shadow Thieves, the stories in this remarkable issue of the Wild Surge are varied and entertaining.
We hope you enjoy them!

So venture forth, read and ponder
On these splendid tales of grandeur,
Seeking mysteries hidden under,
And be filled with awe and wonder!

The poet is a reference to the old middle-Dutch poet "Van den Vos Reynaerde", in English know as "Of Reynaert the Fox", and I mimick similar things.
Firstly, the writer starts by mentioning his name "Willem die Madocke maakte": "Willem who created Madoc", which is a claim of grandeur about a totally unknown earlier work (and I do the same; I once distributed a silly mod that changed bard into thief and back as I mention in the first line).
Secondly, the writer goes through some silly adventure and making fun of NPCs all the way into the end where he does an acrostic. The first letters of the last sentences write "BI WILLEME": "By Willem"... and I could not help but do the same silliness.
There are some more things in there that people can appreciate... or not. But in any case,
I am very grateful for the acceptance of my entry among the other three pieces of art. I am amazed at their quality and I cannot help but applaud the three winners. Extremely well done! I think all of the stories deserve either a follow up or a new adventure!
