Imagine that--if Trump and Pence both go down, we have a situation where the entire GOP spends over 2 years (or more, depending on how things play out) trying to shield a criminal from justice, and then the Democrats are painted as the bad guy simply because they won the House in 2018 and therefore Pelosi, by longstanding constitutional precedent, becomes the third in line for the presidency. Kind of amazing to think that the GOP might do better in 2020 if both its president and vice president turned out to be literally criminals, for the sole reason that Pelosi has been arbitrarily defined as a boogieman.
It ain't the Democrats' fault that the GOP elected Trump and Pence.
I think Pence being removed as well is a liberal pipe-dream at this point. There isn't any indication to me he is being targeted. Frankly, I have no problem running against a guy in 2020 who is basically BRAGGING about the fact that his wife works at a school that doesn't allow homosexual students or staff members. And, 100% true to form, acts like they are the victims when that fact is reported in the media.
Rudy Giuliani, true to form in regards to all his media appearances where he THINKS he is helping the President, seems for all the world like he is lending credence to the Buzzfeed story with his answers on the morning shows this AM. I still find it very, very interesting they haven't denied it directly like they do with nearly every other story that comes out. Watching him from day to day is like seeing a goalpost sprout legs and run around town like a chicken with it's head cut off. Every time it amounts to him being confronted about something they vehemently denied in the past and then he says "yeah turns out the President did do that, so what??" On the Trump Tower Moscow front, we have gone from then saying they had NO dealings with Russia whatsoever, to having dealings on it til June 2016, and now we have them admitting it up til October. The Republican Presidential candidate having surrogates negotiating a deal that would be worth $300 million dollars and have to be approved directly by Vladimir Putin a month before votes are about to be cast. Yeah, totally above board I'm sure.
George Birnbaum and Arthur Finkelstein spoke with Buzzfeed News about their work in manufacturing the global anti-Soros message. Apparently Soros was a very uncontroversial figure in Hungary until midway through Viktor Orban's term as Prime Minister, when he found that he no longer had a clear political enemy to run against. How do you claim to be fighting the enemy when you've already defeated them?
Against this backdrop, Finkelstein had an epiphany. What if the veil of the conspiracy were to be lifted and a shadowy figure appear, controlling everything? The puppet master. Someone who not only controlled the “big capital” but embodied it. A real person. A Hungarian. Strange, yet familiar.
That person was Soros, Finkelstein told Birnbaum.
Birnbaum was mesmerized: Soros was the perfect enemy.
At the beginning, it almost didn’t make sense. Why campaign against a nonpolitician? Although he was born in Hungary, Soros hadn’t lived there in years. He was an old man, known all over the country as a patron of civil society. He had supported the opposition against the Communists before the fall of the Iron Curtain, and financed school meals for kids afterward. In Budapest, he had built one of the best universities in Eastern Europe.
But Soros' Open Society nonprofit had been trying to support democratic institutions in Eastern Europe, and that allowed Orban's campaign to paint Soros as a dangerous shadowmaster. While Soros had been criticized by the left and right since the 1990s for different reasons, this new image of Soros was very recent.
The public campaign against Soros began in earnest on Aug. 14, 2013, around nine months ahead of the next election. It started relatively quietly, with an article in the government-aligned newspaper Heti Válasz attacking NGOs that were said to be controlled by Soros.
Next, the Hungarian government went after the allegedly Soros-controlled environmental organization Ökotárs, which received Norwegian and Swiss funding. Police stormed their offices and confiscated computers, while the government opened an investigation into their activities. The Hungarian investigators would eventually come up empty — but not before they had succeeded in spreading the image of a shadowy network of foreign NGOs run by Soros.
The attack campaign intensified in 2015, when Soros advocated that the EU develop a "common plan" to deal with the refugee crisis coming from Syria.
The attacks came thick and fast after that. Any organization that had ever received money from the Open Society Foundations was painted as “Soros controlled.” Employees of the NGOs were described by government press as “mercenaries,” financed by foreign powers. All of that was done through a series of sensational articles and official responses from members of government.
A crescendo was reached in July 2017, when the whole country was plastered with ads showing Soros’s face and the slogan “Don’t let George Soros have the last laugh!”
The slogan “Stop Soros” was repeated endlessly, everywhere. Manipulated photos showed him walking hand in hand with allies through a fence: Orbán’s fence, constructed to stop refugees crossing into Hungary. Orbán claimed Soros maintained a mafia network.
In the fall of 2017 the administration conducted a “national consultation.” Millions of citizens received questionnaires, in which they could choose whether or not they supported the “Soros plan” to allow a million people from Africa and the Middle East to enter Europe per year.
It worked. A huge part of the country turned against Soros. Orbán won in 2014 and 2018, both times with an overwhelming majority.
That anti-Soros narrative went global.
What really worries me is the thinking that drove Finkelstein's strategy. It's an eerie echo of an electoral philosophy I keep seeing here in the United States.
Finkelstein’s premise was simple: Every election is decided before it even begins. Most people know who they will vote for, what they support, and what they oppose. It’s very difficult to convince them otherwise, Finkelstein believed. It’s a lot easier to demoralize people than to motivate them. And the best way to win is to demoralize your opponent’s supporters. That’s what Trump did to great effect against Hillary Clinton, and what he meant when, after the election, he thanked black Americans for not voting.
Finkelstein had long been studying the big political trends, and he settled on simple issues that could do the most damage. In the end, he noticed, it usually comes down to the same concerns: drugs, crime, and race. These are the issues that create the most political division, he wrote in a memo to the Nixon White House in 1970. ... Whoever doesn’t attack first will be beaten, he argued. And Finkelstein made things personal. Every campaign needs an enemy to defeat. He developed negative campaigning into a technique he called “rejectionist voting” — to demonize the enemy so much that even the laziest of voters would want to get out and vote, just to reject them.
Finkelstein would also advise his clients not to talk about themselves, but instead to focus their campaigning on destroying their opponents. He became notorious for turning “liberal” into a dirty word. In TV campaigns that no 1990s American could avoid, opponents were branded as “ultra liberal,” “crazy liberal,” “embarrassingly liberal,” or “too liberal for too long.” Campaigners named his ideology “Finkel-Think.” It was simple but effective. Friends of Finkelstein have often claimed that nobody got more politicians elected than he did.

It is not the Southern Border with Mexico. In fact, of all of the terrorist attacks in the U.S. none of the perpetrators have arrived from there and they all have legally entered in the country. While a few terrorists have come from foreign countries, since 9/11 the vast majority were born here. Therefore, we must accept the fact that the most dangerous and virtually unprotected port of entry for terrorism is the human mind and no wall is going to prevent ideas from entering.

This is it.
These authoritarian types need enemies to scapegoat. Hitler did it with the jews, gypsies, and others. For Orban it's Soros. Trump's been doing it with Mexi- er "immigrants" and Democrats.
These right wingers need cover to steal everything for themselves and to more firmly hold power.
They prey on fear. "Scary people are coming to get you. Only I can protect you." By protect you, they mean put you into a police state while they get wildly rich. Conservatives in particular fall for this ploy again and again since they are primarily motivated by fear. They are afraid of losing their status - however low it may be in reality they gladly hand over their rights and let themselves get exploited for the illusion of security. Once you hand over power to the authoritarian, that's it you're screwed. Look at Russia with a few billionaires and almost everyone else in low class and near poverty.
"The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country."
- Hermann Göring, Nazi Leader
full quote
“Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war: neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or fascist dictorship, or a parliament or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peace makers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/33505-why-of-course-the-people-don-t-want-war-why-should
Gillette's advertising has for a long time been based on pretty traditional ideas of what masculinity means. Their latest advert though takes a very different line (see it on Facebook or here) as a response to the MeToo movement. That's caused a lot of controversy because it is such a break from the past for the company and seen as a betrayal by many men.
The video linked was a response in that it was drawing a 'both sides' equivalence, i.e. that toxic femininity was just as much of a problem as toxic masculinity. I have some sympathy with that and would certainly support a message about the need for mutual respect from everyone. However, I don't think the video actually did that. It seemed to be saying that, for instance, lack of support of women by women in the workplace was equivalent to sexual harassment of women by men.
One point I found particularly grating and makes me very suspicious of whoever produced the video was that Margaret Thatcher's decision to send armed forces in response to the Argentinian invasion of the Falklands was highlighted as an example of toxic femininity. I simply don't believe that anyone would have raised the slightest eyebrow at that response if it had been by a man. Hence highlighting this here is not a demonstration of toxic femininity, but rather a reflection of very outdated gender stereotypes held by the producers of the video.
It seems like it isn't the school that needs to apologize but everyone who jumped to their own conclusions about a short video that neither explained the context, leadup or even aftermath of the incident, but are the chances of that happening.
It seems like it isn't the school that needs to apologize but everyone who jumped to their own conclusions about a short video that neither explained the context, leadup or even aftermath of the incident, but are the chances of that happening.
Oh look, more video that shows the vicious little assholes from the Catholic prep-school mocking and laughing in his face and doing tomahawk chops. Media bending over backwards to try find a exit ramp for them is more likely. Apology?? Fat chance:
Then again, why WOULDN'T they believe this is normal?? The President uses the word "Pocahontas" as a pejorative and you could have watched a whole stadium do the tomahawk chop last night in the AFC Championship in Kansas City. We not only stole their land and wiped them off the face of the Earth, we made their culture a joke to be wielded at our whim.
All I see are a bunch of worked up teens (from their own chant minutes ago) jumping up and down to the beat of the drum (another one actually yelling at another student, don't touch him). At the end of the video they are all there, standing and clapping along. Not once, do I see a tomahawk chop. Funny how that video ends as soon as something that can be seen as a positive enters into the frame (clapping along to the beat instead of chanting along to it). And remember why the cheering started in the first place, to drown out the hateful speech that was being thrown their way.
Keep in mind, these kids were minding their own business until not one group, but two groups of people began interacting with them.
But you know, I guess random people on the internet know better what is going through these kids minds when they are captured on video than the actual kids.
Yeah, well the same school those kinds are from just denied their gay Valedictorian the right to give his graduation speech.
So? What does that have to do with these kids jumping along to the beat of the drum, that entered where they were cheering to begin with?
What does the action of the school (who also condemned the kids actions BTW in an attempt to limit the backlash against them) have to do with what the kids think? I guess the bigotry answer is since the school is against being gay, every single student at that school has to be against it too. All Catholics are the same after all.
I'm not sure precisely how bad that nonverbal chant is supposed to be. Listening to it from the outside, the sound is indistinguishable from the Native American elder leading a chant while kids follow his lead. That's not what was happening, but I think it's notable that the sound of their chanting is virtually identical to that situation.
And if people claimed that the teens were shouting "build the wall" and they weren't shouting that phrase, then yes, that's misrepresenting them. And saying "well, they were still saying something else that's bad" does not make it any less of a misrepresentation.
A complete breakdown of over an hour of video by someone who was there. As he stated from the beginning, Nathan Phillips was trying to diffuse the situation between the two groups, and his intent was to get to the top steps of the Memorial. He was blocked from doing so:
Pay particular attention to part 20 of that thread (and linked video), where the original boy in question is deliberately blocking his path up the steps while nearly everyone else has attempted to create a lane for him.
Again, Nathan Phillips was forthright about this from the beginning, and had NOTHING to do with the other group that was taunting the boys. He always claimed he was attempting to descalate the situation.
Well, the Indian Elder said he heard them saying "Build that wall", and it made him sad, because these were originally indian lands. And he *was* there. None ot the rest of us were.
This is from a guy who sued the Mormon church because it didn't recognize his marriage to his laptop, and who tried to sue Apple, claiming his MacBook caused his Porn Addiction. Boy, he sounds like one seriously mentally stable individual, doesn't he? (Sarcasm)
ok, lets go through this ladies 10ish tweets about the incident one at a time.
"1. I attended the #IndigenousPeoplesMarch from 8:30am-1pm. We started on the stairs of the Department of Interior and marched to Lincoln Memorial. The spirit was peaceful. The call was for indigenous people and allies to receive the wisdom of the elders/remember who we are. 2/" "2. While I was at #IPMDC19 at Lincoln Memorial I neither saw, nor heard any competing rally or street preachers. I did see a huge group that took up most of the steps. They took a picture on the Lincoln Memorial steps. Many in the group seemed to have red caps. 3/"
Fair enough, but immediately she is passing judgement on the kids because of what they are wearing.
"After watching several videos, it is clear: Nathan Phillip's claim that the incident began before he stepped forward. It started with a back and forth that began BEFORE, went on DURING, and continued AFTER Nathan Phillips attempted to intervene. 4/"
Not one person is disputing this. It could also be said that Phillips should not have intervened at all.
"Before you watch, a quick note about the street preaching tactics of the Black Hebrew sect. There is a long lineage of Hebrew people who originate from Africa. For more info on those branches of the Hebrew and Christian faiths, you can check out my friend, @PropheticWhirl" "The Black Hebrews sect, is an American-based evangelistic group that tends to use aggressive provocation to engage with passersby--usually in major cities. They are a regular fixture on street corners in cities like NYC, Phila, and DC. 6/" "Here is the ENTIRE INCIDENT on VIDEO from the perspective of one of the five Black Hebrews that the #CovingtonCatholicHighSchool students reacted to: (link: https://youtu.be/t3EC1_gcr34) youtu.be/t3EC1_gcr34 7/"
She then explains and becomes apologetic about the actions of racist group.
"Black Hebrew member's video shows the group grow as Phillips said. Then everything EVERYTHING TURNS ugly at 1:09:51 when a boy jumps to the front, takes off shirt, crowd roars, leads school war chant that ends with them doing war cry to the Hebrews. 9/"
War chant? Are you serious lady? War chant and war cry? I think I prefer the "lets drown out the hate with school spirit chants" myself, but ok, go ahead and exaggerate what is really happening here and call them war chants.
“Phillips, a former Marine, said the incident started as a group of Catholic students from Kentucky were observing the Black Israelites talk, and started to get upset at their speeches." ~ @freep You'll see this is exactly what happened. 8/" NOTE: In the article linked above Phillips says: "They witnessed these individuals on their soapbox saying what they had to say," Phillips said. "They didn't agree with it and got offended." This is clear in the video. 10/
Instead of confronting those that were clearly in the wrong, Phillips approached the younger, more influential youth.
"The Black Hebrews were using aggressive, provocative and sometimes offensive language to engage, as they usually do. There were a couple of ways the boys could have responded: 11/" "1. Walk away. If they were waiting for their bus (as some have claimed) that was not a good place to wait. They were on the memorial steps. Buses would meet them on a side street about 100 yards away. 12/" 2. Walk away. 3. Walk away. 4. Walk away. 5. you get the point... 13/"
Her "couple of ways" is one unrealistic way, since they were told to meet on the steps, not block the sidewalk and they numbered in the dozens, if not close to a hundred kids. Phillips could have also turned away from the kid and walked away... but you know. So once again, lets blame the victims (kids... remember these are kids who had racial and religious taunts thrown their way by adults) and their lack of inaction in the situation instead of the actual preparators.
BTW, this is when I'd tune out someone like this lady, but lets continue:
"#CovingtonCatholicHighSchool boys didn't #walkaway. And, NO CHAPERONES? Nathan Phillips said: "If their own instructors, their own teachers, their own chaperones, would have handled the situation right from the beginning, it would never have happened." 14/" "I was there and I was witnessing all of this ... As this kept on going on and escalating, it just got to a point where you do something or you walk away, you know? You see something that is wrong and you're faced with that choice of right or wrong. " ~ Nathan Phillips @freep 15/ @ChaseIronEyes "Phillips attempted to defuse the situation by offering a song, “trying to get young people to listen... Iron Eyes called the AIM Song, associated with the 1970s American Indian Movement, a “spiritual symbol," for all to sing. 17/ "In Shar Yaqataz Banyamyan's video Phillps does exactly that. He walks between the Black Hebrews and the crowd. Most telling is the Hebrews response. They were grateful: See 1:12:32 in video:"
So Chaperones where there according to the kids as they asked for permission to start the spirit rally. So please explain the difference of a school chant (catholic school chant BTW) and a native American drum song?
You know the difference. One was actually part of the incident to begin with, another walked into it because he felt he had to. I do take Phillips at his word however that he thought the situation may get out of hand if he didn't intervene. That was his perception of the incident.
Now here is the huge kicker. Phillips was trying to "get the young people to listen FOR ALL TO SING" But you know, lets condemn the kids for singing along with him. *Shaking my god damn head*
But you know, the black Hebrews were grateful. Nothing wrong with the racist.
"Phillips shared in early testimony that he intended to go through the crowd to the top of the steps to sing the AIM song from that perch. In this upcoming video you see what I believe is the MOST IMPORTANT MOMENT of this controversy... 19/" "Mr. Phillips goes right, then left, then tries to go through the center. Most of the group seems to understand and make a way for him, except the boy who didn’t move. Mr. Phillips said the boy blocked his path. He did. 20/" "At 2:01 in this video, a white woman names the spirit of the crowd: "You guys are acting like a mob! That's what's going on," he says as the boy in the red cap stands inches from Phillips face, smirk lit, not budging. 21/"
So one kids action is the most telling. Lets listen to that one kid and see what he has to say... oh wait, lets not and just condemn him because his version of the events do not fit our narrative. IF everyone else was making a path, why didn't Phillips just walk around the kid. Phillips never even attempted that. He just stopped and beat his drum in front of him.
"1:17:26 Hebrews speak truth: "Your college degrees was paid off of the blood shed from slavery. Your houses, your mortgages--everything that your parents own--was given to you by the blood shed by our people." White boy yells: “That’s racist, bro!”
Um...no. That is truth. 23/"
No it is racist, as you are assuming all these white kids parents are white privileged. Once you start to assume something about a person because of the colour of their skin, you are being racist.
But once again, lets be apologetic to them because they were being racist towards white kids and all white people deserve it.
Then she blathers on about the black Hebrews saying there isn't a black kid with them, when in fact there were two (This is a school in Kentucky after all) and when the black kid comes forward is then harassed himself for being friends with white kids.
~
So still my conclusion: These kids are not in the wrong. Not once. Perhaps their actions can be perceived as racist, but one should not assume that. The "standoff" was just that. Two people standing there. One elder chanting, one young kid listening. No one has the right to assume what was going through that kids head. This would be a nothin-berger if these kids weren't wearing MAGA, they were all judged and perceived for that more than anything else which highlights the real bigoty being displayed.
The best thing for the school to do is invite a couple of native leaders to the school and share their stories about their people and their culture. Turn it into a learning experience.
Well, the Indian Elder said he heard them saying "Build that wall", and it made him sad, because these were originally indian lands. And he *was* there. None ot the rest of us were.
Yet in all the videos, not once was that recorded. He might have thought he heard it (It is claimed that it was "bring jamal", the black kid to the front, which can sound like "build the wall") but it wasn't said.

I, for one, am going to trust the Native American elder who believed he was being taunted by the youths and believed they were being hateful. Generally speaking, it's pretty easy to tell when someone's genuinely trying to sing with you vs when they're trying to mock you. An outsider might not know, but I suspect the elder had a pretty good idea.

"In an interview Saturday, Phillips, 64, said he felt threatened by the teens and that they swarmed around him as he and other activists were wrapping up the march and preparing to leave."
His story has changed since it was first reported and it was clear he intentionally went to the kids to defuse the situation between them and black Hebrews and that the indigenous march had nothing to do with the kids rowdy behaviour.
But once again, I am not blaming Phillips for this, At the end of the article he is even quoted as saying:
“I’m still trying to process what happened,” Phillips said. “I’m feeling a little bit overwhelmed.”
But lets run the "these kids were being racist against indigenous people and being aggressive towards them story even though all the facts about the incident haven't come out."

“I’m still trying to process what happened,” Phillips said. “I’m feeling a little bit overwhelmed.”
But lets run the "these kids were being racist against indigenous people and being aggressive towards them story even though all the facts about the incident haven't come out."
edit: was it "berder"? haha thanks.
I dont really know what you're trying to argue. In that article (and others I've seen), Phillips maintains that he felt threatened by the the young men. He has stated that he was trying to pass through and that the young man stood in his way and wouldnt let him pass. He has also said he felt they were being disrespectful/hateful.
The only changing I've seen in the story is the context that there was a 3rd group (the Hebrew Israelites) that were inflaming the situation by mocking and going after the kids in MAGA hats.
So, let's bring in another character witness for this group of prep school brats, shall we. This was posted by a girl who (and you can read her own account of what happened in the short thread) did nothing but walk by and have a couple second encounter with them as they shout "MAGA!!" and god knows what else in their feral reaction to two females basically just trying to walk down the sidewalk (click on the tweet, it's a mercifully short thread):
So the point was brought up before, are these kids being singled out because of their MAGA hats?? Yes, they are. I will get to why they are in a second. But first of all, what does Donald Trump have to do with Catholic teachings?? I guess he is disingenuously against abortion. But he is not only for the death penalty, he advocates for the death penalty for people who have been exonerated by DNA evidence (see Central Park Five). Catholic doctrine is equally as equivocal on that issue as it is on abortion. As it is on serial adulterers who cheat on every one of their wives. So the idea that a Catholic School is busing a horde of students to a pro-life rally in MAGA hats is a hypocritical joke to begin with.
But let's talk about MAGA hats. Is it bigotry to single them out for this?? Some clearly thing so. But unlike skin color, a MAGA hat can be taken off. Does no one find it strange that literally NO other US President has ever had a piece of clothing in this manner?? Show me the Obama supporters going out everyday with their Hope and Change hats. Show me the Bush supporters in their Compassionate Conservative hoodies. Those things don't exist. Because the MAGA hate and the phrase itself is like a totem, and everyone who wears it and who sees it knows exactly what it represents. It's a signal that immediately announces "I am at the top of the social hierarchy, and I damn well want you to know it". It's a talisman of white supremacy. It's become that because of Trump and is rallies, and what is said and the behavior that takes place at them.
Personally, I'm glad I had a mother who would have grounded my ass if she had ever seen me engage in the kind of behavior we have seen across all these clips, and not hired a PR firm to write a statement to bail me out.
"In an interview Saturday, Phillips, 64, said he felt threatened by the teens and that they swarmed around him as he and other activists were wrapping up the march and preparing to leave."
The teens did not swarm him. He walked to them in an attempt to diffuse the situation between them and the black Hebrews.
"Phillips, who was singing the American Indian Movement song that serves as a ceremony to send the spirits home, said he noticed tensions beginning to escalate when the teens and other apparent participants from the nearby March for Life rally began taunting the dispersing indigenous crowd."
This is a false claim and contradicting all video evidence presented. You'll also note that neither of these two statements are a direct quote from Phillips.
Phillips did notice tension, but not towards the indigenous crowd as this article portrays.
"Phillips said a few people in the March for Life crowd began to chant, “Build that wall, build that wall,” though such chants are not audible on video."
Once again, the chant was "bring Jamal." Once again, Phillips might have heard it as "Build the Wall" and his perception of the events might have made him saddened and feeling threatened but such a chant, but it wasn't what transpired.
“It was getting ugly, and I was thinking: ‘I’ve got to find myself an exit out of this situation and finish my song at the Lincoln Memorial,’ ” Phillips recalled. “I started going that way, and that guy in the hat stood in my way, and we were at an impasse. He just blocked my way and wouldn’t allow me to retreat.” So once again, this is his version of the story. However, he made no attempts to get around the kid and just stood their with him. Phillips had every chance to turn around away from the kid but he didn't. Why? If everyone else was letting him through as claimed why didn't he turn around or just brush past him.
The article then goes into Presidents Trump attack on Warren, which had nothing to do with this incident, but it basically attempting to link these kids to the actions and words of Trump because they were wearing MAGA hats.
Then this:
In a statement, the Indigenous Peoples Movement, which organized Friday’s march, called the incident “emblematic of our discourse in Trump’s America.” “It clearly demonstrates the validity of our concerns about the marginalization and disrespect of Indigenous peoples, and it shows that traditional knowledge is being ignored by those who should listen most closely,” Darren Thompson, an organizer for the group, said in the statement.
So the organizers of the event took one man's actions (Phillips) to wade into a crowd of MAGA hat wearing teens to make sure this message got sent. How many new organizations would have reported on this March had these kids not been there waiting for a bus?
Rep. Deb Haaland (D-N.M.), who with Rep. Sharice Davids (D-Kan.) became one of the first Native American women elected to Congress last fall, said the video was difficult to watch. “To see a group of students from a Catholic school who are practicing such intolerance is a sad sight for me,” said Haaland, who is Catholic.
Once again, where is the intolerance? Is it the kids chanting along and jumping to the music enjoying it? Are they not allowed to enjoy something that is suppose to be spiritual, and as posted above from that lady's twitter feed, something that is all to sing?
Granted, they do come from a state (edit: I get Kentucky and Kansas confused, but point still stands) that practices this,

- Hermann Göring, Nazi Leaderfull quote
It works the same in any country.”

The President uses the word "Pocahontas" as a pejorative and you could have watched a whole stadium do the tomahawk chop last night in the AFC Championship in Kansas City. We not only stole their land and wiped them off the face of the Earth, we made their culture a joke to be wielded at our whim.
Really?!
What does the action of the school (who also condemned the kids actions BTW in an attempt to limit the backlash against them) have to do with what the kids think? I guess the bigotry answer is since the school is against being gay, every single student at that school has to be against it too. All Catholics are the same after all.
And if people claimed that the teens were shouting "build the wall" and they weren't shouting that phrase, then yes, that's misrepresenting them. And saying "well, they were still saying something else that's bad" does not make it any less of a misrepresentation.

For more info on those branches of the Hebrew and Christian faiths, you can check out my friend,
@PropheticWhirl"
"The Black Hebrews sect, is an American-based evangelistic group that tends to use aggressive provocation to engage with passersby--usually in major cities. They are a regular fixture on street corners in cities like NYC, Phila, and DC. 6/"
"Here is the ENTIRE INCIDENT on VIDEO from the perspective of one of the five Black Hebrews that the #CovingtonCatholicHighSchool students reacted to:
(link: https://youtu.be/t3EC1_gcr34)
youtu.be/t3EC1_gcr34 7/"
“Phillips, a former Marine, said the incident started as a group of Catholic students from Kentucky were observing the Black Israelites talk, and started to get upset at their speeches." ~
@freep
You'll see this is exactly what happened. 8/"
NOTE: In the article linked above Phillips says: "They witnessed these individuals on their soapbox saying what they had to say," Phillips said.
There were a couple of ways the boys could have responded: 11/"
"1. Walk away. If they were waiting for their bus (as some have claimed) that was not a good place to wait. They were on the memorial steps. Buses would meet them on a side street about 100 yards away. 12/"
2. Walk away.
3. Walk away.
4. Walk away.
5. you get the point...
Nathan Phillips said: "If their own instructors, their own teachers, their own chaperones, would have handled the situation right from the beginning, it would never have happened." 14/"
"I was there and I was witnessing all of this ... As this kept on going on and escalating, it just got to a point where you do something or you walk away, you know? You see something that is wrong and you're faced with that choice of right or wrong. " ~ Nathan Phillips
@freep 15/
@ChaseIronEyes
"Phillips attempted to defuse the situation by offering a song, “trying to get young people to listen... Iron Eyes called the AIM Song, associated with the 1970s American Indian Movement, a “spiritual symbol," for all to sing. 17/
"In Shar Yaqataz Banyamyan's video Phillps does exactly that.
"Mr. Phillips goes right, then left, then tries to go through the center. Most of the group seems to understand and make a way for him, except the boy who didn’t move. Mr. Phillips said the boy blocked his path. He did. 20/"
"At 2:01 in this video, a white woman names the spirit of the crowd: "You guys are acting like a mob!
But lets run the "these kids were being racist against indigenous people and being aggressive towards them story even though all the facts about the incident haven't come out."
edit: was it "berder"? haha thanks.
The only changing I've seen in the story is the context that there was a 3rd group (the Hebrew Israelites) that were inflaming the situation by mocking and going after the kids in MAGA hats.
He just blocked my way and wouldn’t allow me to retreat.”
So once again, this is his version of the story.
Then this:
In a statement, the Indigenous Peoples Movement, which organized Friday’s march, called the incident “emblematic of our discourse in Trump’s America.”
“It clearly demonstrates the validity of our concerns about the marginalization and disrespect of Indigenous peoples, and it shows that traditional knowledge is being ignored by those who should listen most closely,” Darren Thompson, an organizer for the group, said in the statement.
Granted, they do come from a state (edit: I get Kentucky and Kansas confused, but point still stands) that practices this,
So maybe you need to start a little higher than grade 11 students to start getting respect for your culture back. Just saying.
It then lists other people who condemned the kids actions before getting the full story.
The full story is now out there: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/social-issues/picture-of-the-conflict-on-the-mall-comes-into-clearer-focus/2019/01/20/c078f092-1ceb-11e9-9145-3f74070bbdb9_story.html?utm_term=.f74d0021e4fd
