Regarding open borders, that is the standard of the democrat party whether or not the democrat voters actually agree with it. That was the phrase Clinton herself used to describe what she wanted, and there isn't any restriction that democrat politicians support. The borders would, effectively, be open to all if they had their way.
Legislating via judges, the idea that this is restricted to one political party or even done noticably more by one party is simply ridiculous and at odds with the facts.
Gun rights, I don't think any politician wants to take guns away because its political suicide. Where I stand, I want to have a gun to defend myself and don't care about the rest.
May I please have the source for the open border talk from Clinton. It sounds like something that was taken out of context.
It’s like Trudeau’s tweet trolling Trump after he signed the first executive order banning people from certain countries:
“To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada,”
It was slightly taken out of context (most tweets can be) which caused confusion on what he actually meant.
Conservatives still point to this tweet as the result of the influx of refugees coming into Canada from the south, claiming he said “Canada’s open come on in.” Which isn’t the case even though a lot on the right believe it is.
How is it not isolated? Barring some connection between the offenders all I can see is the upcoming election being a factor. There is no geographical correlation, no single group they were all members of, no single race (the Florida guy was Native American or Filipino I thought I heard), and not even a single religious motivation. Most religious right folks love the Jews.
I didn't say they were connected, I said they aren't isolated. Meaning they are taking place in a specific climate. They all have plenty in common, which is a murderous hatred of "the other" and fantastical conspiracy theories.
Which is why I said mini, though I suppose we could quibble about my use of that phrase.
The real issue here is that these fringe (emphasis on fringe) far-right attacks usually spike when a Democrat is in office, and at least in those cases, it can SOMEWHAT be explained (though not excused) by their side being "in the wilderness", so to speak. But what seems orders of magnitude more troublesome to me is that now we are seeing spikes when their (relative) political side is IN power. Which means a general feeling of impotence is no longer one of the factors to blame. Which means something else is.
Clinton's "open borders" thing was her expressing support for European-style free trade, as opposed to trade wars espoused by Trump. I don't know much about her views on immigration; it's generally been a side issue for me.
I was just making tea with my son and he was playing a game of "would you rather" using Alexa. In answer to the question "would you rather have Trump or Kanye as President" he said Trump - Alexa then informed him that 35% of people agreed with him. On the face of it it might seem surprising that almost twice as many people would support Kanye for president over the current incumbent, but I presume that the majority of respondees are from outside the US where he has even less support than at home.
Now that I think about it, I've never actually heard a liberal advocate for looser immigration laws. All I've heard, in fact, are liberals opposing (1) the wall and (2) deportations. I've never heard them call for anything else.
They're in favor of amnesty which is basically rewarding illegal immigrants with citizenship. To me that is pretty much open borders. Sorry...
Not open borders in the slightest. It's providing them with the opportunity to become full fledged citizens. It's not like Democrats want to wave a wand and say "Everyone can be a citizen!". Usually it's a laborious process that requires them to have been an official resident of the country for a number of years, pay a fine, then pay back taxes and eventually become a citizen.
Seriously. Here's the actual bill that was passed in the senate. This was called "Amnesty" by conservatives. It's not even *remotely* close to amnesty.

The connection being that Trump is targeting these things in social media and on the campaign stump. When you sow enough hate and fear, you get this. Acts of domestic terrorism.

The connection between the offenders is they are radicalized right wing terrorists. As far as I know it's true the religious right mostly do love jewish people. The neo-nazi right, the so-called alt-right, however they do not love the jews.
-FlordiaMan tried to bomb all the Democrats that have been demonized by the President, Fox News, and the right wing echo chamber.
-The synagogue shooter posted anti-Semitic rants and wanted to take action against Jews for helping migrant caravans which have been demonized by the President, Fox News, and the right wing echo chamber.
They had different preferences within the right wing hate machine echo chamber. They looked through the propaganda and found the parts the "liked" and acted on it. Both of these people acted on fear mongering and propaganda they'd heard from the President and right wing media.
The shooter seems to have been DIRECTLY influenced by the major story in right-wing media for the last 10 days, which is the "threat" of the "migrant caravan" and the idea that it was being funded and organized PERSONALLY by George Soros.
Do the math. As has been stated many times, Soros is a stand-in for not being able to say "international Jews". He isn't so much a person in these circles as a code word. Then add in the obvious paranoia that is a result of the hysteria over this so-called caravan that is almost a thousand miles away and consists of people walking in our vague direction with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
The shooter targeted a Jewish synagogue that he believed had some association with a Jewish immigrant and refugee rights group called HIAS. It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out what set this guy off. He shot up the synagogue because he was whipped into a hysteria about this "caravan", and by the constant use on the right of implying George Soros is some kind of all-powerful, shadowy Jewish puppet-master, it caused him to specifically go after the nearest Jewish connection to immigration he could find.
I don't know what it's going to take for people to realize where this is heading. This is the kind of poisonous bullshit that is being pumped into the system of consumers of right-wing media 24/7 365. It's all over AM radio, it's on at least 2 cable television stations, and it's f*****g EVERYWHERE on the internet. FOX is basically broadcasting the shooter's conspiracy theory to millions of people hours after the shooting took place.
Though it is at this point the least reported out of the three, the Kentucky man who shot two African-American grandparents at random in a Kroger's initially seemed to have tried to enter a predominantly African-American church. Only a locked door prevented THAT situation from being another Dylan Roof. Only bad engineering or incompetence prevented the pipe bombs from going off, as even Christopher Wray said they were legitimate explosive devices with the internal components necessary to cause death. So basically, we have only by sheer luck avoided dozens upon dozens of people being killed within a 3 or 4 day span of time.
The connection between the offenders is they are radicalized right wing terrorists. As far as I know it's true the religious right mostly do love jewish people.
I don't think they do. I think it's more a case of "Better the Jews than the Muslims" 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' thing.

Yeah. I'm no expert on the inner workings of the religious right. Your assessment sounds right to me.
Actually, paradoxically, a lot of the alt-right hate Jews because they think they are indoctrinating the children to be gay and multicultural with massmedia and Hollywood (because it's all owned by Jews and all producers are Jews duh) and also some horseshit about the banking system (which I don't get because the alt-right want predatory capitalism so why are they bitching about getting exactly that?) but they love Israel because it is a brutal ethnostate. Basically, there are two kind of Jews; banker / Hollywood Jews secretly pulling the string and Israelis. Do not confuse the two, and their beliefs make a lot more sense*.
* But why bother unraveling it? It is not any less lunacy just because you understand where they are coming from.
We've been hearing since the protests the day after Trump's inauguration that George Soros is paying protesters. We recently heard he was paying the Kavanaugh protesters. Now he is apparently paying Honduran refugees to WALK to the United States.
If any of this is true, then at a bare minimum tens of thousands have received payment from this man. If that is the case, how is it remotely possible that not one of the payees has come forward with a check or paystub?? How is it possible that there isn't a single actual financial transaction between these thousands upon thousands of "professional agitators" and Soros that can be presented as evidence this is the case??
Also, as @semiticgod has said on more than one occasion in the old thread, how is it even a REMOTELY efficient use of a billionaire's money to pay a bunch Honduran migrants to travel on foot to the United States. To what purpose?? Why would any wealthy person do this when we basically have legalized bribery and they could just buy a politician?? People who believe this are as crazy as those who think the moon landing was faked. Yet this idea of "Soros protesters" is basically gospel in nearly all forms of right-wing media.
Clinton's "open borders" thing was her expressing support for European-style free trade, as opposed to trade wars espoused by Trump. I don't know much about her views on immigration; it's generally been a side issue for me.
A little late on this one, but she specifically said she wanted open trade and open borders in the same sentance. No reason to think she meant to say open trade and open trade, it would simply be redundant. Also this was in 2013, long before Trump.
As for never hearing a liberal push for looser migration laws, well, just google "abolish ICE" and see how many mainstream hits you get, you will get a lot.
That is a far left perspective though, I doubt it would ever become policy.
Immigration is the number one issue in America and in many places in Europe it tops the charts.
And it's easy to see why. It brings permanent change to your community and society, it will affect the values of the country later, it changes your economy. Immigration, especially on a large scale, effects everything.
We've been hearing since the protests the day after Trump's inauguration that George Soros is paying protesters. We recently heard he was paying the Kavanaugh protesters.
The Kavanaugh elevator lady *was* paid. This is fact, not conspiracy. Her name is Ana Maria Archila, and works for the Center for Popular Democracy. This is her job. And yes, Soros finances that organization in part.
What exactly are we talking about when we say it will "affect the values of the country"?? What particular American values (which is a completely subjective term to begin with) are on the precipice of being changed because of immigration. The entire country is pretty much nothing but descendants of immigrants. So are we talking about actual tangible issues here, or are we simply talking about the percentage of people with darker skin color in certain neighborhoods??

Did he pay her to be sexually assaulted as a child, which is why she confronted Flake in the elevator?? Is everyone who has a political opinion expected to not work in politics?? The organization she works for is also funded by the Ford family and TONS of other people. But I'm sure she was lying about her sexual assault as well. I mean, we all know that's just what liberal women do.

Drop the entirety of China in your community and suddenly your community operates along Chinese values rather then American values. Bring the entirety of Saudi Arabia in and your communities values will change further still. It is disingenuous to the extreme to pretend people don't believe different things in different parts of the world and that these things don't matter.
The leftist political establishment knows this, which is why it brings in people whose voting patterns they can take advantage of regardless of the cost to the citizens.
Did he pay her to be sexually assaulted as a child, which is why she confronted Flake in the elevator?? Is everyone who has a political opinion expected to not work in politics??
I can't speak to her motives or the truth of her claims. What I can do is look at the facts, which say that she was indeed a paid activist.
What are "American values"?? Moroever, what are the leftist policies that would push immigrants to vote for Democrats, as opposed to, you know, being constantly demonized and scapegoated by the other party on an almost hourly basis?? What is so inherent in American values that recent immigrants don't represent??
As for never hearing a liberal push for looser migration laws, well, just google "abolish ICE" and see how many mainstream hits you get, you will get a lot.
ICE are the brownshirts that made the concentration camps. Let Customs and Border Patrol do their job without ICE. Gas nothing to do with looser immigration law and everything to do with enforcement.
Any thoughts on the indoctrination of the synagogue massacre shooter and the MAGAbomber being radicalized by right wing media to commit their attacks?
The "abolish ICE" thing is a wildly overzealous approach to the problem. It's the same simplistic idea as the "abolish the IRS" or "abolish the EPA" thing on the right. ICE has numerous roles and legitimate functions in our government, and the solution to some scattered abuses of power is not to shut down the entire thing. There are also abuses of power by individual police officers, but that doesn't mean we abolish law enforcement. The solution is simply to punish those individual abuses of power.

In TWO days:
At least 91 Jews murdered (historians say that number is likely far too low)
30,000 Jewish men put in concentration camps
267 synagogues destroyed
7000 businesses destroyed or damaged
Hundreds of Jewish homes, hospitals & schools ransacked
Sorry, not even close. I agree that things are getting bad, but these false equivalencies don't help your case.
