Texas is closer than I thought it would be. I don't expect it to continue, but it's nice to see now.

The border patrol ‘crowd control exercise’ was cancelled. Thank god for that.

But an active shooter training exercise did take place at the same time at a polling place Kettering, OH. The school which was a polling location just happened, gosh, to have a active shooter scenario on voting day. Nothing like the sound of gunfire to try and intimidate voters.

In case you somehow thought Fox "News" was a legitimate news outlet.

Trump had Hannity and Judge Crazy Janine Pirro appear at his campaign rally.

Reminder: Fox News is state TV and an arm of the Republican party.

The Senate is gone for the Dems, likely going to lose 2 to 4 seats by the time this is said and done. The ONLY hope for tonight would be just getting the House and putting some check on this Administration.

"Tony Clement resigning critic role after admitting he sent ‘sexually explicit’ photos, video to extortionist"

No, I don't want to even picture that. Poor Clement. Him resigning and getting ahead of it shows his class. The thing that most people don't understand about Canadian politicians is that a majority of the time they are civil servants first. Personal gain or power is always second. A majority of them will do what Clement did in a heartbeat.

I will just add that FOX did not condone their talent from campaigning with Trump.

The participation of the Fox hosts in a political rally struck even executives at the network as inappropriate. “Fox News does not condone any talent participating in campaign events,” the network said in a statement on Tuesday. “We have an extraordinary team of journalists helming our coverage tonight, and we are extremely proud of their work. This was an unfortunate distraction and has been addressed.”

edit: but if you get your news primarily from Hannity, its time to branch out.

The trend tonight is becoming clear. Trump country has hardened and calcified in it's support, but he is toxic in the suburbs. The urban/rural divide in this country is basically complete. Two completely separate countries.

"Has been addressed" If that addressing didn't include a firing, it's just a lot of hot air.

CNN just called the Senate seat in Indiana as a flip to the Republicans.

The Democrats just flipped 2 House seats in Pennsylvania according to CNN projections.

Beto running ahead of Cruz with 70% reporting, no matter what happens, is a hell of a lesson. If you are going to run, then RUN. Don't be afraid of your positions and what you believe in (and this is a SERIOUS problem for Dems, who are constantly scared of their own shadow).

Two more Democratic House flips in Colorado and Michigan.

Dems pick a House seat in Kansas AND the governorship. Kris Kobach is the architect of the national GOP's voter suppression efforts. His loss is a gain for humanity itself. The bad news for Dems is Florida (what's new) and deep-red Senate defenses. Everything else is going ok. As I've mentioned MANY times in the past year, this year's Senate map for Democrats is historically awful.

Well Florida did pass the felons voting reinstatement thing restoring right to millions of voters who were at the whim of Rick Scott whether he wanted to restore their voting rights or not. Most of the time he did not.

But Republicans have until 2020 election to invent other ways to suppress votes and rig the election in that crucial swing state.

"Floridians approved a constitutional amendment to automatically restore voting rights to people with felony convictions once they complete their sentences, a historic move expanding the right to vote to about 1.4 million people and reverses a state policy rooted in the Jim Crow South. "

Yes, this is a wonderful development. What reason is there for anyone to become a good citizen after they serve their debt to society if they are excommunicated from participating in it??

In Kansas, Sharice Davids is the pick-up for Dems. She is the FIRST Native Ameican woman ever elected to Congress. In 2018. What an absolute indictment of this country that such a thing would take this long.

Heitkamp loses here in North Dakota. Absolutely no surprise. Trump won here by 34%.

Cruz is going to squeak by in Texas. There was simply no way it was going to happen. No one could have run a better campaign for this seat than Beto.

The Senate is going to be even farther to the right. The House is going to switch hands. That isn't a wash, because the Republicans already control the Senate, and flipping the House stops the entire Trump legislative agenda and grants subpoena power. Tonight will be a net win for Democrats when you take everything into consideration, but not what many had hoped for. The deck is too stacked.

On the plus side, Beto's coattails may net Democrats a House seat or two.

I'm glad Donnelly went down. He was a Republican-lite. He had an ad that he would allow Medicare for all over his dead body. What a jerk.

Stop pretending to be a Republican because Republican voters will just pick the real Republican anyway. And your not doing the Democratic party any favors either. So yeah it sucks to lose the seat but the guy occupying it was not really on your team anyway.

On the other hand, the judge let the voter suppression in North Dakota go through.

At this point in history, the Democrats have to basically sit at a net +20% in the popular vote to even have a chance of taking the Senate with this kind of map. The Senate is, ironically, the ULTIMATE example of affirmative action. For rural, conservative voters.

Democrats have taken the House. Timidity in the face of this Administration will not be accepted. It's time to start letting subpoenas rain down on this White House. No quarter.

Dems are also picking up every significant, competitive governorship except Florida. The fix has been in for months in Georgia. I'll never view Kemp's win as legitimate after what we learned in the last few weeks.

Regardless, gaining control of one part of the government on the national level when you had NONE for 2 years is huge on it's own. The Senate map in 2020 is nothing like the 2018 one. In the end, this is exactly what was predicted by pollsters. A wave in the House (and a +9% popular vote margin nationally overall) and an impossible hurdle in a brutal Senate map.

Already hearing that Democrats are going to demand Trump's tax returns. You're goddamn right.

Still, a red Senate means there's no chance that Trump will be held accountable for either corruption or obstruction of justice. No matter what evidence turns up, Mitch McConnell's GOP is not going to do anything to displease Trump.

Trump will fire Rosenstein to get his campaign lawyer, who Trump signed an ethics waiver to hire, in charge of the Mueller investigation. Maybe tonight.

So that's pretty much over as well. The Republicans will also be able to put whoever they want in Justice. Maybe we'll see Supreme Court Justice Rudy Guilliani too.

"Alabamians made an amendment to the state's Constitution that would authorize the display of the Ten Commandments on state, public and school grounds, prohibiting the spending of public funds to defend the constitutionality of this amendment.". <- whycome Alabama so stupid. What problem is this addressing? Not a theocracy is a problem? We need christain sharia law?

Why not Baphomet then or why not Zoidberg.

The Senate being a two-vote Republican majority or a eight-vote one is functionally meaningless, which was proven with Kavanaugh and nearly every other vote that didn't involve John McCain's thumb. And the Democrats would have had to draw a royal flush to prevent the first, and the later hardly makes a difference. They were never going to win the Senate having to defend these seats. The map flips completely in 2020. The Senate can of course keep confirming his judges, but they were going to do that anyway. The left had the court stolen from them in 2016. Everything else is an epilogue. Legislatively, nothing else can happen without the House.
