Which raises a good question. When BG2 and IWD show back up in the Play store, will our order histories be restored, or will we have to buy the game all over again. I am really hoping there will be some sort of dispensation if it's the latter.
i think that restore is most unlikely. once its deleted, its deleted
so GP store will not offer free downloads to customers who bought it before then deleted from tehir devices, thinking it was safe to do that
i also think that B have no contingency plan for dealing with that.
If I am wrong perhaps they will outline it here
but seriously, how can they, when
1) they refuse to give download links ( citing piracy).
2 they assert they have no copies of purchase records.
FYI my silly conversations with Google support continue - I asked how to report the lack of developer support and they offered 3 "solutions":
i replied pointing out the catch-22 that none of these work because they deleted f the app from the store!
"We take violations of the Google Play Content Policies seriously, and we appreciate you letting us know.
There are two ways to report an app that you feel is violating the policy:
Submit a report through the Play site [ its not there to report on]
Report content issues through the app [ that's impossible because we cannot download and re-install the app]
.... In addition, if you want to provide feedback about the app to other users, you can leave a public review on the Google Play Store. [ catch 22 - its not in the store so we can't review it ]"

There's still evidence of the purchase in the Google payments section, separate from the order history. So hopefully once it's been uploaded to Google play a support ticket to Google should add it back in .
If not, well let's just be thankfull the BG series is out of beamdogs hands.
1) they refuse to give download links ( citing piracy).
How do you ensure that the person downloading the file isn't going to reupload it somewhere else?
This argument doesn't wash, They offer the game DRM free through GOG without issue
GOG is not Google. Thankfully. What happens on one site has nothing to do with how business is done on the other. Beamdog is limited by legal agreements as to what remedies they can offer in this situation. If your version is not DRM free, then that prohibits them from giving the links you desire. With no purchase history available, they can't verify who did or did not buy the game, this limits their ability to offer refunds or other remedies. The time this has taken is ridiculous, but not much to do about that from this end.
So have you confirmed with them that the game will definitely reappear in people's purchase history and they will be able to download it without charge?
Sorry if i post again this question, but it was not answered.
I have a question, i believe you can answer this. When BG2 will return to the store update to comply with the european nonsense... will the other game you have in the store be updated too? I think you said that your others game were at risk of being pulled too.
I have been speaking with the Australia competition and consumer commission and it is illegal to refuse to give refunds or a replacement product, won't be surprised if beamdog won't be able to sell their products in Australia in future.
I really hope they don't do that. I'm also in Australia, and I want to be able to continue buying Beamdog products. This kind of a ban would not only hurt Beamdog, it would hurt the customers too.
So have you confirmed with them that the game will definitely reappear in people's purchase history and they will be able to download it without charge?
apparently not, they are carefully avoiding saying that !
You can't get a refund. Both companies have said so. Repeatedly.
You probably will not get the game back either, unless you pay again.
I will not be doing that. Once bitten , twice shy.
And I will never buy anything from Beamdog again, not that they care.
I will.buy baldurs gate 3, for multiple platforms probably, but from Larian.
This thread is indeed not quite right. The time taken to accomplish the task, the wild accusations, the extreme frustration over the limitations and conditions under which internet commerce operates. Let's hear from the modders. Their reputations within the community may be somehow hampered by nobody getting to experience their creations. Global class action liability all around. Come on... LET'S GET CRAZY MAD.
Just playing, I've heard, only heard, about games being removed(along with purchase history) for other reasons. Once restored, purchase history reappeared as well. Again it's second or third hand at best, and this situation is different, so take it how you will.

You’re getting a replacement. You’re just not getting it now.
I don't want the games anymore, so since Beamdog and Google took my money and then took the apps back, all is fine right?
While the refund period should be suspended for Google Play stuff that was taken down during this debacle, there is an upper limit to how long you can have owned a thing before you can't return it any more due to "this isn't what I wanted".
@Pokota How does not having a game fits into the same category as not having a game that you expected? It sounds like sophistry. He's not complaining about some qualities of those apps.
I don't want the games anymore, so since Beamdog and Google took my money and then took the apps back, all is fine right?
:: sigh ::
Do you have any idea how many games I have (well, had - I gave them away) that I used to love, no longer play, and never got a refund for? It filled a large paper box and represented I don't even want to think about it dollars.

Come on dude, seriously.
Apples and oranges...
One thing is buying a game and enjoying it until the point where you are tired of playing and don't care for it anymore.
A whole different thing is buying a game that even without playing it (for a reason that is totally beyond your control) turns into a unpleasant experience - what I think is the scenario for some people of this thread.

When did you first purchase the games?
I'm being sarcastic. I love the originals and I think the remasters are excellent. But I don't want anything to do with Beamdog anymore and especially Google, though. That's what I'm saying. So I'd love a refund, and then I would consider purchasing the games on Steam. I already have everything on gog.com. You see, it's a matter of principle and I feel scammed and ignored. I made a purchase and I expect the games to be always available. When dotemu went out of business, I was warned and I made backups of my purchases. Google does not allow this. So bye bye Google. Tell me where I'm wrong.

"should appear" is not the same as " will appear"
has anyone at Bemdog actually bothered to ask Google for confirmation of that
or is this just wishful thinking
if they don't re-appear, what is your plan B ?

"Thank you for writing back to us.
I have looked into your request and escalated to our specialists and got an update in this regard.
Please note that once an app is removed from the store, there's no way to report the app.
Also please note that due to reports on the app we have already removed the app.
Also please be informed that there's no reason to report an app after it is removed.
Appreciate your understanding in this process.
We regret for any inconvenience caused to you in this regard.
Thanks!

That's not how refunds work. This thread is insanity.

The point is that there is a time limit to do so based on when you made the purchase. Two weeks is fine. Two months less so.
