Is there any way to install this other than Weidu installer? Like just a zip or something? Maybe somebody can DM me? The typical weidu installer takes me a godawful amount of time.
Right now only WeiDU, though you could do it with Project Infinity.
Can You grant me access to EE modification as well? I don't know If i'd be a great game beta tester but Im a Test Manager in IT company (former autamtion tester and manual tester even back). I know my trade tho' it is not game testing.
Optional puzzles and harder encounters are now optional? Seems like IWD: Goyslop Edition to me
Making encounters optional is something that was only done in specific cases, and the main purpose was never to make the game easier or dumb down the game.
IWD2EE adds several instances where you can talk your way out of certain fights with persuasion checks (Bluff, Diplomacy or Intimidate). This was done in order to give you more opportunities to use these skills; there weren't many places where you could use them in the original game. If you talk your way out of a fight, you typically get some experience for it, but you usually don't get the items you would've gotten for killing them.
2d illustrator & 3d concept artist, and occasionally dabble in writing and worldbuilding. This particular game has always been something of an inspiration. I played through IWD2 four or so times between 2003-2015.
IWD2EE is finished enough that you should be able to play through the whole game from beginning to end. Most aspects of IWD2EE are in a state where I would be fine releasing them (there are plenty of bugs still around, but I could fix those after release if I don't catch them earlier). The exceptions are 1. the NPCs and 2. the GUI.
1. The NPCs, thankfully, are something that we're currently making progress on. @semiticgoddess has been writing dialogue for the NPCs. A lot of them still don't have portraits, though.
2. IWD2EE currently has 4 new pieces of GUI art, namely the startup menu and the chapter start screens for the prologue and the first two chapters. Everything else uses the same GUI as the original game. In fact, those 4 new pieces of GUI art were already part of IWD2EE when it was announced years ago at the start of this thread; we've made basically zero progress on the GUI for years, since the people who were initially working on the GUI (like @ashafetov ) ended up being really busy with other projects.
I am so incredibly psyched for this, I can't even tell you. I've been running a modded version of IW2, and it's good enough but all the widescreen patching and blah, blah, blah. I was absolutely heartbroken when I heard years ago that the sourcecode was lost and there would be no official IW2EE. I cannot wait to play this bad boy. Appreciate all the heard work your team is doing @OlvynChuru
I'm considering starting a playthrough of Icewind Dale 2 with a couple of friends and after googling around I found this project. How's the multiplayer currently? If it's in a playable state, I would very much like to try this out.
Is there a way the Red Chimera people can make the Gibberlings IWD2 NPC project compatible with IWD2EE? I tried it just now and the game crashed in the first dialogue where other party members interject with Nord having a conversation with other people (i.e. Nord talking to the guy with the injured arm and the game crashes when Valeero and Prachi interject with them.) I enjoyed playing IWD2 NPC. Put more to the story, not as good as the IWD NPC mod was (probably one of the best mods in game history; it put so much more personal story and entertainment into the whole game, with the druid character of Nella being Arundel's apprentice, and the comical romance of bard Severn and thief Teri)
Hello, please allow me to start by saying a huge 'good job' to every single person offering their part in making this.
I have been a huge lover of IWD 1 and 2, played countless hours ever since each game reached my PC and I honestly feel bad with my self for not finding this thread sooner. While working, earlier today, a random reply on steam's IWDEE topic brought me to this page... And I have to admit that most of today's work was left unfinished
I've read some of the messages, everything I could find about spells, equipment, class and dialogue opts I've seen, but sadly, can't scroll over all 25 pages (at least for now) I feel so jealous of everyone playing this... I really really ... honestly really MUST join this team.
I'd really enjoy troubling everyone with anything I come up with. Build theorycrafting, progression, possible bugs, generic ideas... or just random thoughts about one of my best old time favourite game.
PS. Since English aren't my native language I'd like to be excused for any bad grammar, spelling or any other mistake.
PS2. Hope this wan't too much of a trouble to read.
Keep up the good work. And once again, thank you so very much for this. Made a tremendous change in my mood today!

@mled
Currently it's only Windows, and it will be very difficult to make it usable on other platforms, unfortunately.

Aw shucks, that's a shame.
Well I guess it uses the windows iwd2 exe which never had any equivalent on linux so it probably can't be helped.
