Wait, actually no, it's not 5%. The way damage resistance works in 3rd edition is that is reduces damage by a flat amount. Armor that granted +10 AC will reduce any instance of physical damage by 5 points.
Woh. That is extremely different. If a character or enemy has +20 AC bonus (natural protection for many monsters), that is -10 damage to all physical attacks, which is huge. I regret installing that option.
The component doesn't actually apply to natural AC of characters or enemies; just armor and shields (including armor/shields worn by enemies). In practice, you are not going to get 10 damage resistance just from armor and shields until very late in the game (if ever). And by that point, enemies will often be dealing quite a bit more than 10 damage per hit.
About removing setup-ddrawfix ...
I installed IWD2EE after installing the default DDraw required by GOG when I hit play once to test.
Now, I simply ran setup-ddrawfix again, uninstalled it, and the mod system automatically triggered itself and reinstalled/adjusted all the mod options.
It seems to be working fine, notably if I use 1360x768 as suggested by rsilverside.
Is it OK or should I zap everything and restart ?
I wish to know whether this is the right place to report an issue, which is not necessarily be a defect.
I am using Windows 10 _emulated by QEMU_ under a Ubuntu host. The version of IWD2 is GOG. I tried to start the game by 800x600 resolution. It shown an error message of unable to find a 32-bit color depth display mode. While the detected color depth mode is 8-bit, the actual displayed color depth is 32-bit, as the screenshot color is solid. I believe it is difficult to change the detected color depth at the QEMU. So I wish to know whether it is justified to relax the color depth checking at the IWD2EE?
@csmth96: Are you using GOG's default ddrawfix, or cnc-ddraw? If you're not using cnc-ddraw, try switching to that, (see my post here). Otherwise, I'll take a look, but I don't think there's much I can do. IWD2 disabled the hardware acceleration that was present in older engine versions, so everything is rendered in software. As a result the engine manually blits based on the resolution's color depth. IWD2:EE hooks some of the rendering functions, and in order to keep things simple we only worried about the 32bit color depths.
@csmth96: Ok, I looked into this further, and I think fullscreen mode will probably work fine for you. ddraw is reporting 32bit color depths as long as IEex displays resolutions when you start the game. The problem is that in windowed mode the game uses whatever it queries the display's color depth as.
I've attached a WeiDU mod that forces the engine to think it's running on a 32-bit-depth display, (install it after IWD2:EE). If you start the game and the colors look good, you should be good to go.
Edit: I'm curious about the Special Edition mod from Nexus, though. There is a component that updates areamap backgrounds with software-rescaled tilesets and adds smoother Fog of War graphics. I guess it should be compatible, but is it unnecessary? Couldn't find anything in the readme about enhanced areamaps.
The component that update tileset and smoother Fog of War seems to work (testing it in the prologue). Regarding it's necessity... it's a matter of taste.

@Bubb I uninstalled ddrawfix (after reinstall IWD2). The game can run full-screen with IWD2EE without complaining color depth. That solved my problem.
I got my hands on it, working and played through the prologue, gotta say the quickloot makes the game so much smoother. Thank you team for putting this together!
no offense, but
could you just keep the original setup and present us widescreen and new windows system support?
i really think the original setup is better than you changed and added.
or at least give us another version like i said, please. >_<
This is looking pretty aamzing! Unfortunately I'm having some issues. For one my saves seem to dissapear, they would stay while playing but not be there when I start again. I wodner if this is related to Onedrive's cloud backuping.
Secondly, while I have modded infinity engine game before, I don't have much experience witht his one. I tried instaling the compatible mods mentioned one out of curiosity. And i'm not sure if the npcs one at least is working fine. For starters the npcs faces are not appearing in the savegame, just blank slots for them, also, i only got one interjection shen finsing the medicine in teh warehouse so far and I don't know if these characters don't talk much or if I did something wrong. I'm used the iwd1's mod npcs being pretty chatty by comparison. (i did run the mod compatibility file after installing them) I'm using gog btw.
1) Before you install IWD2:EE, if you installed IWD2 from GOG, please run setup-ddrawfix.exe (found in your game folder) and go through the steps to uninstall it. IWD2:EE comes with a preconfigured cnc-ddraw replacement for ddrawfix, but won't use it if it detects ddrawfix is already installed. Critically, cnc-ddraw allows the game to upscale to your monitor's resolution.
.
It happens to me also. My suggestion is to mark the old "ddrawfix" mod as incompatible, the same as the 'Widescreen' mod and use ABORT weidu keyword.

My guess would be GOG cloud saves. You can turn those off for IWD2 (maybe it detects the game is running somehow) or boot IWD2EE.exe without GOG.

How do you install special editions on top of the EE?
Just run its setup, say "no" to all component except the Softer rescaled component.
This is the install order I am using (no noticeable issues so far):
IWD2EE (all);
IWD2-SPECIALEDITION (Only "Softer rescaled areamap tilesets" component);
IWD2NPC (all);
CDTWEAKS (It's Tweak Anthology, not all components works at the moment);
IWD2EE_MOD_COMPATIBILITY_PATCH.

A classic version of IWD2 working on windows systems already exists: just install widescreen mod on IWD2 (GOG release already have directdraw fix installed) and you are ready to go.
Hi, minor request: Is there a way to remove racial level adjustments? I wouldn't mind removing the extra abilities either, I just want to see certain dialogue reactions to drow, tieflings etc.
always after starting IWD2EE, it asks for administrator access, goes to the resolutions screen and in steam it changes the process, is there any way to set a native resolution? and the process continues with the same executable?

okay, that's another problem, how to uninstall IWD2EE? i deleted them and re-install my GOG IWD2 but now i cannot load any of my save files...

I would avoid saving your saves on onedrive. Because onedrive would backup your saves on the cloud and delete them from your PC. Therefore inaccessible.

You should have launched IWD2EE setup and choose "uninstall".
Don't know how exactly GOG version manage savegames, but they usually are in /IWD2/mpsave, so if you have manually deleted the folder, you have deleted the saves too, unless they're on GOG cloud saves system. Anyway the saves done with IWD2EE will not work properly with a "clean" IWD2, you will need to start over.

it still says that Paladin Orders restrict multiclassing, though it is not the case in EE.
EDIT: I just noticed your note to report issues/bugs on the Discord. My bad. Will use it. Cheers
Closed the previous thread, stickied this one. Will be posting on Beamdog socials to raise awareness about this.

Im having trouble with installing the mod.I get the following error from the debug:
ERROR: problem parsing TP file [IWD2EE/IWD2EE.TP2]: Unix.Unix_error(20, "system", "")
FATAL ERROR: Unix.Unix_error(20, "system", "")
I get this type error on all the components of the mod when installing
Im using Windows 7 64 bit .

Any chance a mac version will become available?
