@Azirael See, I did all that and I'm still getting errors. Let me go over what I did exactly.

First I downloaded the BGNPC1-Master.zip as you suggested. Unzip, goes to its own folder. No problem, copy paste it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition wich is my main game folder.

Step one and two done. Get Weidu from the website provided. WeiDU 236. Read instructions. Copy example folder, readme and most importantly weidu.exe to my main game folder, mentioned above.

Replace the file with the one you gave me.

    Run setup-bg1npc.exe

    This happens.

Proceed to accidentally push back space on my browser and lose all of my previous post saying exactly this, cry a bit in frustration. This has been my experience so far and I am unsure if I am missing something simple or somehow its just not working for me. Perhaps because I have steam?

It looks like you didn't copy weidu.exe in the same directory as setup-bg1npc.exe, as the log clearly states WeiDU 23100 and not WeiDU 23600, and there is nothing showing that an automated update process of setup-bg1npc.exe with the latest version has been done or even tried.
Either that or the automatic update process is not working on your system, possibly because the C:\Program Files (x86) hierarchy is protected by the system.

Try a manual update of the WeiDU installer:
    - remove file setup-bg1npc.exe
    - copy weidu.exe and rename the copy as setup-bg1npc.exe

Also, remove dialog.tlk from the common\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition directory. It's not supposed to be copied there anymore. WeiDU 236 will ask which language you play BGEE with, and will find the dialog.tlk file in the appropriate lang\something directory according to your answer.
  • whitewolfwhitewolf Member Posts: 12
I am getting an error that it cant find the dialog.tlk when I'm trying to download. I have skimmed through the last few pages to see if there was already an answer but didn't find one so sorry if it has already been addressed.
  • NecomancerNecomancer Member Posts: 622
@whitewolf I was just having that problem. Can you start the .exe and see what version of Weidu it is? It should say at the top. Mine kept running at version 23100. If its running this version take the advice from Isaya above me, who is still my favorite person for the next 10 minutes. You'll need to download Weidu to get it working but the first post on this page has a link that will lead you to it.

@necromancer I have version weidu 23600. So that latest wiedu is running...
  • IsayaIsaya Member, Translator (NDA) Posts: 752
This error message may appear if you didn't put the mods files and directory in the appropriate directory.
The "right" directory is typically, for PC (I don't know about Mac) :
... Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition\Data\00766 for the standalone client
... Beamdog\00766 for the Beamdog client
... steamapps\common\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition for Steam version
The starting point (...) depends on your choice when you installed the game or Steam itself.

In any case, the "right" directory is the one where you can find a file name "chitin.key" (ensure that file extensions are not hidden by the Windows Explorer in order to see the .key extension) and a directory called "lang".
This is where you should put the setup-bg1npc.exe (updated to WeiDU 236), the bg1npc.tp2 file and the bg1npc directory.

@Arizael I am not so computer savvy, but I'll try your steps.

A question for you, or any who know: Do you have to start a new game for this to work, or can I apply it to my current game? I am currently in the fourth Cloakwood Forest screen (with the wyrven cave) right after having the dream that gives me the slow poison special ability.

    Thankx!
  • NecomancerNecomancer Member Posts: 622
@Jedi_Gnome It should work on your current game fine but you might want to start a new one anyways, at least if you take Imoen along. She starts off quite chatty from the very beginning.
  • Jedi_GnomeJedi_Gnome Member Posts: 92
@Necomancer really? Yeah, Imoen is pretty standard in my party. Thing is, I have so little time to play through. I'm still on my first game of BG:EE, and I'd hate to start over, as I'm anxious to get to BG2:EE.
  • NecomancerNecomancer Member Posts: 622
@Jedi_Gnome I can see that. I'd just finish this game and plan another for the future, perhaps with different characters and such. Either way man, enjoy your game.
  • ArizaelArizael Member Posts: 263
@Jedi_Gnome I would recommend starting a new game. Altough it will definitly not ruin your saved game, you might epect some weirdness. Most importantly though you will miss some cool stuff, like the reworked quest in Cloackwood if have Jaheira etc.
  • Jedi_GnomeJedi_Gnome Member Posts: 92
    NOOOOOO!!!

Well, since I'm STILL on my first run through since I got BG:EE, you see I don't get to do it that often and it'll take me forever to get through the whole saga. Maybe I'll just go back a few saves, like just before I head out to Cloakwood.

Anyway, it looks like I have to do that Weidu step since I got that dialogue error. Again, thanks to those that replied!
  • Jedi_GnomeJedi_Gnome Member Posts: 92
@Arizael OK I have NO clue what I am suppose to do with Weidu. I downloaded the ZIP file of it. I extracted it into my 00766 folder. What do I do next? Don't be afraid to over explain!

Actually this looked like it did the trick! Thanks!

I couldn't get the Dynaheir romance to install, but I got the Branwen to install. Question, does Branwen have a racial restriction (I'm a gnome)? If yes, can I try to reinstall BG2 Tweaks to see if those cheats come up (when I originally installed BG2 Tweaks, it skipped these cheats).

  • Jedi_GnomeJedi_Gnome Member Posts: 92
Well, it works. I loaded a save just before I left for Cloakwood and I immediately had dialogues from Dynaheir (about a journal) and Jaheria (about Gorion's remains). Again, thanks everyone for the help.

So, my question remains about Branwen's romance.

    Anyway around it?

Use EE keeper to change your official race but keep your gnom-ish good looks?
  • AstroBryGuyAstroBryGuy Member Posts: 3,437
@Jedi_Gnome - If you follow Necomancer's advice, you should be able to switch your race back once the romance starts. The race checks should be at the beginning of the romance, not continuing once it's active.

The other way would be to manually set the romance variables to start the romance. Have you ever used the CLUAConsole?
  • Jedi_GnomeJedi_Gnome Member Posts: 92
@AstroBryGuy , as you probably guessed, no.

Actually, I think I did once, but don't remember how. Could you tell me?

Also, now I can instigate conversations, but now I can't use the flirts for Neera that I installed with the Neera Expansion. Do I have to re-install it?

These are the same problems I had. Jedi_gnome also couldn't get the Dynaheir's romance installed. Has anyone managed to get the Coran, Dynaheir's, romance challenge, or Ajantis stuff installed?
  • Zaarin_2003Zaarin_2003 Member Posts: 33
Can I just ask; why are there so many people reporting on whether or not they can get the mod working now? I was under the understanding that it was not finished yet.

I don't ask this question to be facetious; I'm wondering whether the comments mean that the mod is as finished as it can/will be, or whether people are aware it isn't yet finished but are interested in bug testing or just can't wait for the finished article (and I can appreciate that - BG just isn't the same without the NPC mod!).
  • shawneshawne Member Posts: 3,239
@Zaarin_2003: My guess would be impatience and/or a general sense that the mod won't be "finished" for the foreseeable future. As I understand it, the github version can be installed and will probably work, but there are no guarantees re: bugs/glitches. But if you absolutely can't wait any longer, that's the only option at the moment.
  • Jedi_GnomeJedi_Gnome Member Posts: 92
@shawne I wouldn't say impatience. It looked like they managed to get it to work with a minimum of jumping through hoops, so I'd thought I'd try it since I heard so much about it.

@AstroBryGuy I looked back and now I remember how to get to the CLUAConsole. So what do I have to type to get the Branwen romance to start?
