According to Monstrous Compendium (Volume I) the average kobold tribe has 400 kobolds in it (which itself is comprised of ten bands of 40). So for all those who despise going through the Nashkel Mines and facing off against kobolds, just think of how worse it could have been!

They're that neatly organised? Just how smart are Kobolds?

They are related distantly to dragons are they not? ;) Might explain a few things. I would love a pet kobold. . . or 400. . . :D

That is a 3rd edition thing.

I think the idea is that they are dog-headed in 2e, but 3e changed them to the more traditional scaled goblinoid. That's just speculation though.

Er... As a Pathfinder expert, I can tell you this: in 3.X and beyond Kobolds are not goblinoids, but draconic in nature - So much that several strategies abuse their draconic heritage to break the game, be it through the Dragonwrought template, Dragon Herald archetype or whatever fancies the individual munchkin.

Edit: Ninja'd by Big L, amusingly enough.

Did you know that during Edwin's personal quest in BG2 (when he's Edwina) that if you have him talk to the woman in charge of the Copper Coronet's 'backrooms' she treats him just like Charname in that she offers 'companionship' to him, albeit with that male concubine instead of the female one and interestingly enough, Edwin doesn't seem to object.

    Didn't know that!

If you have him her speak to Salvanas (the horny elf standing at the bar), it ends with Edwina attacking Salvanas. (Don't try this without a recent save, as it may cause the entire Copper Coronet to go hostile!)

Speaking of Salvanas, if you speak to him with a female CHARNAME and try to take him up on his "offer", he chickens out and runs away. :-)

Considering they look scaly and reptilian in BG, I'd say BG was using the 3rd Edition thing.

That Kobold comes from Germanic mythology? They are generally good natured but they play malicious tricks if insulted or neglected. . .

If you are experiencing some sort of strange desire to hoard weapons the best targets (besides generic stores) for stealing normal weapons are amnish soldiers. They always have at least a bow and a long sword. So you should be able to steal one of these if they haven't gone hostile.

The priests are pretty strange in Baldur's Gate. The priest of Gond has a very funny soundbite where he says that "my friend Oppenheimer's got some cooool invention cooked up". Oppenheimer was also the one who said the Xzar quote "I have become death, destroyer of worlds". Another Priest in the Candlekeep Library is doing the hokey pokey...
    ...

Although the quote "I am become death, the destroyer of worlds", in Baldur's Gate, may in fact be inspired by Robert Oppenheimer's use of it, it is not original from him.
Oppenheimer was quoting from Hindu religious writings (one of the Vedas?). It is a statement from the origin story of Shiva, Lord of Death and Destruction.
It is also the source of the series title and quoted in almost every one of the Destroyer series of pop adventure novels, featuring the quasi-government assassin Nemo Williams. This series of books was highly popular (like in every grocery store and drug store book rack) from the seventies into the nineties. Some of them are actually still in print today.

Silence's inn in Baldur's Gate charges you to stay the night if you've got a good reaction, and won't let you stay at all if you have a really bad one. In chapter 5 only. By chapter 7, she isn't charging anyone.

Actually, if you have a high enough rep and reaction, Silence rarely charges you for rack time even in Chapter 5. About once a week. Its my favorite base in BG. Note: you may need to have been accepted by the Thieves Guild before she starts giving you free accommodations.

"Luck be a Lady" is from the Musical "Guys and Dolls". First performed by Robert Alda as Sky Masterson.

Frank Sinatra COVERED an arrangement of it years later, when he sang the title cover for the movie of Guys and Dolls, in which he appeared as Nathan Detroit. It became one of his signature tunes thereafter.

Coran is a bit more like Sky than he is like Nathan.
