    @kaguana‌
    Ah thx for clearing that up. I guess I always used to speak to him, but this time cos I decided to roleplay it more, I avoided him cos "not speaking to scary-looking orc in a bar just after traumatic events".

    Hence I was confused when that encounter didn't occur and wondered if something was wrong with my game. (trying mods first time, which makes me extra nervous!)

    @Heindrich‌ Glad I could help, and don't worry about the mods I'm sure all will be fine :)

    I have another lore question. There's a bard named Poe who recites an epic poem about the ghosts of some warriors who got betrayed in their sleep.
    http://baldursgate.wikia.com/wiki/Poe
    Is this a reference to something in the game? Maybe an enemy or a location?
    I'm sorry, I'm just translating it for fun and don't play the game at the same time.
  • kaguanakaguana Member Posts: 1,328
    @Azzara‌ The wiki tell you "Poe is a bard present in the Firewine Bridge area, midway across the bridge itself. If allowed, he will sing a legend about the souls of knights found in the Firewine Ruins."

    Poe is an NPC that just stand on the Firewine bridge in game BG1 and you can talk to him and he will sing you a poem and you can if you want give him some money for it, that is all.
  • AzzaraAzzara Member Posts: 184
    Ah, thanks, I should have made the connection. I'll go inspect those ruins then.

    Let's talk party tactics: I've got a run planned for a human Cavalier, Jaheira, Mazzy, Nalia/Imoen, Aerie and Neera. But there's a Dragon Disciple NPC mod in the works, and I'm considering taking her instead of Aerie; this would leave all clerical duties to Jaheira. Could she handle that?
  • HeindrichHeindrich Member, Moderator Posts: 2,959
    @shawne‌ I am sure it's do-able, but I hate Chaos and Confusion, so I try to use Chaotic Commands as much as possible, and that's not gonna work with just one priest caster, especially as Jaheira could also use that spell level for Insect Plague and Iron Skin.

    I got a question about Dorn...

    Does he not show up between Nashkel and the Nashkel Mines if you don't talk to him at the Friendly Arm Inn?

    Nope

    Some parties I play don't even include divine casters. Items (including the Greenstone Amulet, the helmet of Charm Protection, the ring of Free action) and potions can substitute them just fine. Of course, it will require some planning and item buying but it will be fine.

    Just try to annihilate everything with the immense power of DD spells combined with Imoen's spells before it begins to become a problem.

    And for the end of SoA when the most difficult battles come you'll certainly have the Greenstone Amulet - just recharge it with selling and buying back.

    Is it normal for Rasaad to lose access to his "fist" weapon if all his quick weapon slots are full? That doesn't make sense to me. Is it because there's not enough space on the lower toolbar of BG2?

    No. That's AD&D.

    @Cershen‌

    Yes, it is. It's how the UI is working. If you put weapons into all quick weapon slots, you won't be able to use fists. Because fists are considered a weapon in this game, not something additional like a thieving ability or Turn Undead.

    @whitemushroom has a question for you:

    "Hello everyone, may I ask you a favour?
    I'm writing down a short story about Hexxat, but I need to know something about her background and her special part in Throne of Bhaal. Is anyone so gentle to write it down to me in a MP or to link me a page where to find all the informations I need. Thanks a lot and sorry for my terrible English (it is not my first language)."

    In the OP by @shawne‌ here: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/34273/critiquing-the-ees-a-pure-story-perspective-2-6/p1 you can find a ToB part about Hexxat: starts with "Let’s move on to ToB"

    Here you can find an information about her epilogue:

    If I intend one NPC to remain Invisible for scouting purposes over multiple encounters in a single map, such as Mutamin's Garden ~~ how do I prevent him/her from joining other NPCs in attack mode, which of course negates the Invisible Scout strategy completely?? I have tried pulling them way out of the action once the encounter is scouted prior to "Enemy sighted" trigger ~ but that seems really outlandish, time-consuming and unsatisfactory.

    Turn off the AI (artificial intelligence) - there's a button at the bottom right of the heads up display.

    Alternatively, go to the character in question's Record page, click on 'Customise' then 'Script'. Read the various descriptions in the given list and select one that avoids combat.
    (I believe there's a thief script that just looks for traps, and another that just attempts to remain hidden.)

    "Thief Controlled" is the name of the script abacus mentioned that you can toggle between trying to hide or look for traps. It won't cause your character to auto attack either.

    @abacus @elminster: Thnx. It is very interesting how every little bit I learn gets incorporated into the experience of playing the game. The feeling of a deep masterful competence is really what I want to have rather than the continual adrenaline surge of early blind play-throughs with their endless reloads.

    I am currently running my most satisfactory play-through yet [ToSC-Vanilla] with a 92pt FMT [18-00Str], Sascha Smith [Elf] 2ptsBlunt-2ptsBows-1ptLargeSwrd. The playthrough has been sticking fairly close to a defensible RP with only one major reload when Dagger of Venom turned up missing at some point. Plus one resurrection of Imoen, which she kinda got a KICK out of!!! Strange Girl!!?

    Sascha is Level 4-4-5 and Imoen [dualed at level 5] is at Mage level 5. They are accompanied by Minsc, Kivan and Branwen who are all Level 5.

    Pirate Cove-Lighthouse-Expedition-Peldvale-Larswood-Spiderwoods-Bandit Camp-Ulcaster-Gullykin-Firewine Bridge still remain to be subdued before heading for the Cloakwoods. A force to be reckoned with. ~Cheers!

    Does anyone know the name of the music from the Temple of Oghma in BG2? Is it in any of the soundtracks? Here is a rip of the music from the game http://www71.zippyshare.com/v/55235577/file.html

    It's actually the music that plays in all the temples, not just Oghmas
    I found it. http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/The+Temple+Of+Helm/4cgw6o?src=5

    How does BG1:EE determine at what level an NPC will be when you pick them up? IIRC, vanilla BG1 based this solely on the charname's level, but BG2 used some sort of weird system that apparently "averaged" the levels of all the party members.

    I ask because my level 5-6 charname recently picked up both Ajantis and Shar-Teel, and each of them were only at level 4, which I found to be quite disappointing.
  • JuliusBorisovJuliusBorisov Member, Administrator, Moderator, Developer Posts: 22,754
    @SharGuidesMyHand‌

    Only charname's levels matter.

    It works as it should be: http://www.forgottenwars.com/bg1/good.htm The same works in BG1:EE.

    So, if your charname is of level 5+, both Ajantis and Shar-Teel should have the 6th leve.

    For BG2 (including EE) you can use http://iesdp.gibberlings3.net/files/2da/2da_tob/npclevel.htm.

    The problem you have encountered, I think, is caused by mods you use.

    How to disable the portrait action icons in BG1? They really annoy me...
    Also, what is the maximum search nodes value? Is it 400000 like in BG2 or can it go higher? Also, as a modern re-release, why is is set at low 32000?

    BG2Tweaks http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/19867/baldur-s-gate-ii-tweak-pack-v12-available-for-download offers 'disable portrait action icons' as an option.
  • ArthandasArthandas Member Posts: 29
    @Erg‌
    Thanks, that answers my question.

    @GKL206‌
    There is no such option, I'm already using v16 (it only allows to remove status icons frim items).

    That depends. Did you ever see/try/play White Box D&D? Now THAT's dumb!

    I remember being able to use various types of arrows with the Bow of Gesen in vanilla TOB . This is still possible in the EE but, for some reason, I cannot switch between arrow types by right-clicking on the Bow icon as one is able to with all other missile weapons. The Bow of Gesen is "stuck" with the arrow type that was last placed into a quiver slot. I'm assuming this is a bug. Has this been reported yet?
