So anyone excited about the PoE card-game? Or the tabletop? Or just the expansion. Or PoE2 ??? I must admit my excitement these days is not as large as it should be...

I wonder why do you feel that way?
I'm still very far from beating the game for the first time and so far I like everything I see: I've reached the 5th level of the Endless Paths and finally have started the Act 2. And this all without re-starting. 35 hours in the game.
I would embrace the expansion, I think they're serious when they say it will be of the TotSC size. I hope the expansion will introduce a new companion or even two of them.
The most recent pleasant part for me about playing PoE is that I've searched the first city location in the stealth mode and it has paid back: I've found an item that can be compared to finding an Ankheg armour in Nashkel in terms of usefulness. I didn't use any walkthroughs or tips and only went through the city in the stealth mode with a hope the Developers would give something for players who like to explore everything.
I don't quite see how the tabletop will work, as the game system was clearly created for a CRPG. I don't expect people to sit with calculators, figuring out the exact aoe of their spells and the damage according to each and every multiplier.
I have two people in jail and so far I've barely spoken to them as they have nothing to say.
Yea that is another thing as well. I told the jailor to be sure to torture the person I have in jail daily. You'd think that would at least be a cruelty option.
Ehh...I don't think it really adds to the game. If anything it just makes dealing with enemies that much more annoying because eventually all you are getting out of it is maybe some ingredients (as well as the inconveniences involved in taking damage). At the end of the day though there seems to be plenty of ways for you to gain xp either way.
How are people finding the experience point system? n.n I know they added bestiary exp and exploration exp, but there was a lot of disagreement about no killing exp.
I like it. When you think about it, after you have killed enough of them to fill up the beastiary with their every strength and weakness, what more "experience" is there to be had?? I've never eaten at a Sonic before, so that would be an experience for me. Whereas going to McDonald's for the (insert number here) time would just be something I do.
I do like the bestiary, and getting a little more info about the beasts each time you kill one. (And I think I've mentioned before, the illustrations in the bestiary are one of my favorite things about the game.) I guess the argument for XP every time you kill a monster could be that you are honing your weapon/casting skills every time, but I think the way they do it is cool. I personally enjoy doing side quests more than endless combat, anyway.

But by that same token there should be a diplomacy or exploration experience cap (besides doing every encounter in the game that requires you to talk someone out of something, or in the case of exploration besides traveling to every area). Once you use a skill up to a certain point you start to see diminishing returns after x number of situations.
i am now doing my second playthrough as a cipher btw- it's great fun. i followed the plot the first time round and now i'm in the stronghold dungeons and i'm finally starting to enjoy the battles! my party is myself, fighter, ranger, druid, paladin and chanter. trying to use the two guys i didn't use in my first playthourgh
edit :
aloth was an interesting character but i don't really like how the wizard class is in this game, durance annoyed me (although i'm starting to notice he was insanely useful, grieving mother was amazingly well-written, but i've had my fill of her. so far grieving mother has been the most interesting character i've seen in an rpg, but i'd have liked to have her have a character model more similar to her description... you know like the girl from the grudge or the ring or something, but that's probably just me
Like i said elsewhere, I am gonna have to get a faster computer if i am really going to enjoy the game.
Right now, i play 20 secs, loading screen 30 secs, then i play for 10 secs, loading screen for 30 secs.... And so on.... And I still don't enjoy combat as much as I should. The stronghold also disappoints me...
So i think it is time for a break, been playing almost 100 hours : O

Before the release I feared I wouldn't like it. But now I LOVE it. I like the concept of getting XP for exploring monster's weaknesses, stats and resistances. I don't feel I get little XP - my characters level up rather quickly and overall I don't feel that I "under-levelling".
I can say "Thumbs up" to Obsidian for making a risky decision. The experience mechanics in this game is spot on. I don't know if I want the similar system in another RPG game, but in PoE it's completely fine.
PoE is the only game where getting achievements makes me so angry, I don't mean they are overly hard to get, just some of them popping up kills me, like
"Got All Companions" well I suppose 8 is ok. no, no it's not.
"Appease All of the Gods", really i only did four quests and there are eight main gods if I'm not mistaken and I'm pretty sure Skaen doesn't like me much after what I did to his followers, and of course the worst one
"Kill All the Dragons" really, just really, two that's it and the sky dragon is a big wuss on top of it all. She looked so cool and then just died in like 30 seconds.
Also I feel the level cap is kinda low, I always try to do as much as possible in any RPG and so everybody has been lvl 12 for about the last 6-8 hrs of game time "and I still have stuff to do", I hate the feeling of my adventuring being kinda pointless.
Also really rare mats, sky dragon eyes, there is one bloody sky dragon and even though it has 4 eyes we only harvest two.
Also not being able to unenchant items or items that have more that enough enchanting space left, a open enchanting slot and then tell you they're full.
Also suppressed bonuses, maybe this makes the game more balanced, but wow was it tedious to rekit 6 fully kitted adventures once I found out this was a thing.
Oh here's another one, losing my arda beetle summon, because I swapped out Kana for somebody and it was in his quick slot. Yeah items in quick slots are obviously just thrown away by anybody forced to take some rest time at the keep.
Low level cap always drives a completionist crazy... I'm nowhere close to finishing the game and I'm level 5, nearly 6 already. My suspicions I would hit the level cap was just confirmed by the post above...
Should be v1.02 or 03 or something like that in the corner of the title screen. I like the no-killing xp, I just wish they'd made it so quests could be solved diplomatically more often. A completionist play through inevitably makes you a 'super murderer'. ^^
how do I know if the patch is installed on steam? they didn't tell me nothin'
In your case the patch was probably automatically installed. When it comes to Steam the only way they aren't is if you set them to install when you launch the game instead or you play in offline mode.

My hope came true:)
I dunno if that is a good idea @jackjack from what I can tell a lot of people here can use some AA

With the advantage that, up to where I played, he seems to be dead
