Laughing heartily at Alora's jokes, she wished that more humor would appreciate nature. "You, Neera, have not the slightest inkling of how to speak with Nature." In fact, Jaheira, herself, was a mere initiate in Her ways. "But that tree would help Nature take the life that she gave... to you."
While the rest of the party were making bad tree puns and discussing the moral compass of Nature, Aerie softly chanted under her breath, a faint blue light glowing in her palms. When she finished, Baevarn's holy symbol shone above her head and a magical aura shimmered around her, an almost angelic glow. Her body faded in and out like a phantom in the light, as if stuck between the real world and an ethereal one.
Without a word to anyone, Aerie proceeded walk past the trees and cross the bridge.
OOC: She cast Sanctuary, in case anyone couldn't guess.
Okay, Aerie walks past the tree and finds a small shelter leaning up against an oak tree. It is carpeted with pine needles, and sticking out from underneath the needles is a golden rod with a silver snake coiled around it (like a caduceus with only one snake). There is also a growth of mistletoe in the tree that would be very useful to Jaheira (mistletoe berries are necessary for druids to cast spells).
"It must be really cool to be a cleric/thief because you can steal stuff and even if people see you doing it they can't do anything to stop you. Ajantis, how long do I have to be a paladin before I'll be able to do cleric spells?"
"We are the sword hands of the gods, meant to confront the darkness with steel and heart. As such, only experienced paladins are granted the blessing of divine power."
@Nonnahswriter No, not any more than looting the room in Nalia's Castle with the Golems causes it to break.
OOC: Can you actually use Sanctuary to loot the Golem room? It has never even occurred to me to try it (in fact I don't think I have ever once used the Sanctuary spell in Baldur's Gate). I have ended up in a mess so many times in this room. It usually ends up with me and my party running away pursued by a posse of Golems.

OOC: kill the Golems one at a time before looting the place.
Why the zealots were having an influence on Alora was completely beyond Jaheira's grasp. She suspected, in fact, that it violated many of nature's basic laws, yet that didn't appear to sway anybody in the current party. One day, perhaps, Nature would have Her vengeance, but that would not come just yet.
You cross the stream and find yourself in a thick forest. Soon after, you hear the sound of a hunting horn in the distance. A deer, its eyes wide with fear, its flanks streaked with blood from a deep gash, bursts from the undergrowth barely 20 yards away. For a brief moment it pauses, breathless and lathered with sweat, but the blare of a horn and the baying of hounds from the direction whence it came sets the unfortunate beast to flight once more and it disappears into the undergrowth.
Moments later, three hounds, jaws dripping with drool and one with blood, burst through the undergrowth, followed by a hobgoblin with a horn. They are approximately 25 yards away from you at this point.
*Anomen's eyes light up when he hears the horns. Hunting, such a noble sport in which he loved to partake in back in Amn. But the horns meant people and people meant civilization which he was desperately missing in this miserable place with its man eating trees. The horns were an escape, not for thr stupid beast caught in the hunters traps but for him.*
*He frowns however when he sees the uncivilized hobgoblin jump through the bush. His hopes dashed, he just grips his spear tightly and lets another take the lead in dealing with this creature.*
"I think this time they found more than what they were looking for." Arkanis grabs his axe and let the hobgoblin decide if it would like to run or to attack.
Jaheira would rather crush the hobgoblin than worry about trickery. Incensed by the cruelty of the invader in Nature's Garden, she intended to exact Her vengeance on the evil creature. "Die, foul creature," she shouted. "And feed the Earth!"
Anomen launches his spear across the distance at the Hobgoblin, pinning it through the heart and killing it in a single blow when Jaheira moves to attack. She moves against the closest dog, the one with the bloody mouth and hits it squarely on the head, splattering its brains all over the other dogs and its body.
The two remaining dogs whine and wheel around, running off into the undergrowth, fleeing in fear.
Alora is impressed by the ferocity an effectiveness of Anomen and Jaheira's attacks. "Wow, you guys don't mess around do you? I guess we're not going to try that idea of talking to stuff before we kill it then, huh?"

A little further down the stream, you find another bridge over the water, made by several downed trees.
Happy in this thought, Alora heads down to the next bridge to cross the stream.

"Awww, poor things. Not their fault their master was a hobgoblin."
Alora trots off to loot the hobgoblin's body.
