Alora finds the Hobgoblin has a small pouch around its neck. Inside is 4gp, a small silver box set with obsidian stones (worth 80gp), and a small key. The box isn't locked, but it is empty except for a few small shreds of snuff.
Glaring at Ajantis, Jaheira demanded to know, "What in the hell is accursed in this forest, save for the presence of damned fool paladins." And paladinial hopefuls, if that was what she could truly call Anomen. They clearly had no appreciation for the glory and beauty of nature, which made them all that much more of an irritant. Sadly, she looked at the hound she'd slain, for it had been forced to be something other than Nature would have had. The death of the hobgoblin responsible had maintained the balance of the event, but she felt no joy to balance her heart - that, she knew, would often be off-balance, but she would learn in time.
Ajantis scowled. "Enough of your insults, druid. Forgive me if I fail to see the glory of every godsbedamned crow, dog, and blade of grass trying to kill me. Give me a real source of evil to fight any day over this unfocused green menace you call Nature. Let us away from this place!"
After a while, the forest peters out and becomes thick grass. Following the river, you find yourself coming to a part of the mountain that's impassable. However, there is a opening into the side of the mountain.
Beyond the wood, a pleasant greensward extends to the base of a towering grey cliff. Rough stone steps lead up the cliff face to a tightly shut stone door. Above this a narrow crack in the rock lets forth a meandering plume of grey smoke. To the left of the door, you can see a dark hole, evidently the entrance to a mine, since a spoil-heap of small rocks is banked against the cliff below it.
There is the faint sound of hammering from somewhere within the rock face.
ok odd question but how did this go from a 15 page RP to over a hundred?
OOC: We've been doing it for over a year now. That may have something to do with it. Oh, and we let a halfling lead us. We tend to get side tracked, and lost and other things. Read through it, allegedly it is very amusing.
We are NOT going underground again. Civilization, the last time I checked was above ground, usually with two or three story inns, with soft beds and a Druid waiting for a damn potion we were suppose to give to her weeks ago!
"I would have to agree with Anomen," Aerie said, and rubbed her arms warm, suddenly rather cold. "I don't know if I could stand another venture in the dark caverns again..."
"Okay, I'll try and open the door into the mountain but it doesn't look like it is going to be easy. If I can't do that and you don't want to go into the mine we'll just have to go back the way we came."
"Agreed. There is no need to hide away from Nature again." Unfortunately, that meant that she was also in accord with Anomen, yet that shouldn't have bothered her. After all, balance would have its day.
As you get closer to the mine, you can see more signs of occupation. It appears that the mine was initially carved by dwarves, but dwarves would hardly turn the area into a trash pit. Evidence of broken and burned mutton bones, cracked acorns, apple cores and nut hulls are everywhere, apparently just scattered at random, tossed from the opening above with neither care nor concern.
"So caves are now unnatural? Never mind, my greatest concern is not the disturbance of the underground flora and fauna, but the littering of these fine tunnels. But i can understand if some of you are tired of delving, and it's right that we have other duty too."
Alora climbs the stairs to the door. The door feels warm to the touch, and seems to be open and unlocked. When she pushes on it, smoke and hot air billow out from the room beyond, which is illuminated only by the red glow of a smoky central hearth. There is a hoarse cry of anger and surprise, and three goblins lunge across at you from the central darkness.
The goblins take Alora by surprise. One of them sticks a shovel into the hearthfire and throws the flaming hot coals at her. She is caught flat-footed, and takes 2 points of damage from the red-hot coals.
Alora strikes out with her short sword and cuts one of the goblins in half (literally). She is splattered with goblin blood.
Next round, the characters go first. Alora hits again, killing the goblin who threw hot coals at her. She's excited... this is the first time she's been so good at hitting in ages!
"Well-done Arkanis! Low-five! We showed those nasty goblins. Now let's see if they have got any treasure!" Alora starts searching the corpses and the room.
Each of the goblins has a small pouch. Within the first is 12 gp. The second has 8 gp, and the last has 5gp, and a whetstone in a gold mount worth 25gp.
In addition to the hearth, the room contains a table, six stools, four mattresses and a chest. The key Alora is holding fits the lock on the chest. It contains 10 clear glass bottles. Five are empty, three contain a yellowish fluid, one a brownish-gold liquid and one is corked and sealed with wax and contains a tightly rolled parchment.

*why else would Alora go near the dead hobgoblin he thought?*
Now lets find a way out of here before his hunting party finds him and starts hunting us instead.
"Nice shot."
"Come on everybody! We should keep moving. I don't suppose the hobgoblin was on his own."

Alora trots over to the mine entrance. "Come on. Let's go and see where that hammering is coming from."

Alora only actions?

"Good job girl!"
Arkanis helps Alora in the goblin chopping.
Edit: If she left something for him

Unless anyone stops her Alora will go ahead and break the seal on the flask containing the parchment.
