Alora will head back to the wizard's bedroom and check the door to the north for traps before opening it.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
It's not locked and she can't find any traps. It opens into a 10' (north-south) by 50' (east-west) room. There are three doors. One to the north, one east and the one you entered by, to the south. It looks like some kind of alcove. It contains two overstuffed chairs and a book lying on the ground, half-open and face-down, the pages slightly crumpled.

Alora will enter the room cautiously, making sure that nothing is hiding behind the chairs, before picking up the book and studying it.

The book is a prayer book, but the pages have been cut and defaced by a sharp blade.

Alora will give the book to Anomen and then search the room thoroughly before trying the door to the north.

South is the one you came in by.. I'll assume you meant north. It's neither locked, and she finds no traps. The door leads to a chapel, which is apparently where the gods of Haven are worshipped. A statue wearing clerical robes are standing in front of an altar. More statues of people wearing many different clothing and of many different ages, sit on the pews. Someone has splashed red paint over all the statues and the altar.

This room is 50' north-south by 60' east-west. To the east are two pairs of double doors, separated by 10' of wall. On the north side of the room, to the extreme west, is another single door.

Alora will search the room, paying particular attention to the altar (but doing her best not to do anything that might be deemed sacrilegious). If she finds nothing she will try the single door to the west.

Okay. Nothing much here, but Alora finds the paint is still wettish. Whoever did this, they were here not long ago. There is nothing here, just altar items (plate, cup, etc.)

The door to the east is slightly ajar. She can hear what sounds like slapping noises and grunts. Peering in, she sees four bugbears slapping paint over more statues. The paint is bright bloody red.

Alora will sneak back and tell the fighters in the party what is going on. Hopefully they will be able to burst in and take the bugbears by surprise.

As far as you can tell, the Bugbears haven't noticed you...

OOC: Alora misses. No surprises there.

OOC: Can Anomen make anything of the book?

“Girl aim properly!” He says as he attempts to skewer the first bugbear he sees, but since it doesn’t look like Alora, he’s afraid he’ll miss.

OOC I take the last few pages as definitive proof Minion is evil and wants us dead.

Everyone misses. The prayer book is... or was... a book to Chauntea, the Earth Mother.

"I was aiming properly but the one I was aiming at moved when I wasn't expecting it. If he had stood still I would definitely have hit him. And you missed too and you're supposed to be good at this!" says Alora, starting an unsightly squabble in front of the bugbears.

Duchess and Arkanis attack the same bugbear, but she only scores a light blow. Arkanis hurt it worse, but it's still up and fighting.

Tiax kills the injured bugbear with a mace to the belly. The Bugbear makes a "Hurk!" sound and collapses. There are two uninjured Bugbears left.
