Alora creeps down the corridor. The corridor runs northish, then kinks to the east, then back to the west while still running north. The winding tunnel ends in a small natural cavern about 50' across by 90' wide. At the end of the corridor is a wooden balcony, apparently newly constructed.
Fifteen feet below is a natural stone chamber. Reddish-purple stalagmites and stalactites cover the floor and ceiling, occasionally meeting to form huge, multi-colored columns. Flowing through the center of the chamber is a swift, dark stream. On the far side is a gigantic, two-headed giant. Scattered on the floor beside him is a variety of bones, and a pit of glowing coals.
Beyond the giant is a cage, inside which is an utterly dejected blue-robed figure.
The air is heavy with the small of burnt flesh and cooked meat. There are some smears of blood on the floor of the cave and an occasional spray on the walls.
The two-headed giant is not looking in your direction. its stomach bulges outwards and it emits the occasional belch. One of its heads appears to be napping, while the other is examining the club it holds in one hand. The end of the club is stained with red.
Alora creeps back to join her party. She signals them to be quiet and to follow her so that they are back in the cavern out of earshot of the giant. She then relates what she has seen.
"There's a big two-headed giant. I don't think we can fight him. Maybe we could try to put him to sleep?"
OOC: Is the wooden balcony like a viewing platform into the cavern? Is there any other way into the cavern or do we just have to climb down from the balcony?
With a shrug, Jaheira decided that she didn't much know about what they could, and couldn't, fight in here. Alora, she knew, couldn't fight anything, but that really wasn't her main role. "Never awaken a sleeping giant," she mused, for her guess was that the single-purpose males were going to try to fight it, anyway.
@Permidion_Stark Yes, the balcony is like a viewing platform. It's about 50' from the platform to the cage where the figure in the blue robe is in the cage, and the two-headed giant is nearby.
You see Culum come out of the passage Alora went down. "That's me da in the cage," he tells you. He appears quiet and chastened.
"It's okay Culum, we'll get your dad out . . . somehow. What we need is a cunning plan. Maybe we can get the giant to argue with himself? We wake up the sleeping head and say the awake head was calling the sleeping head names. Then the sleeping head will get angry and punch the awake head. And there will be a big fight and he will beat himself to death. Maybe"
Alora can't help hoping someone else has got a better plan.
"If he could do that, then how'd the bastard get himself caught?" Sometimes, she wondered how anybody survived past childbirth. The world was full of clueless idiots, who'd no respect for nature. This dungeon was proof of this, as it was full of all sorts of perverted nature. She would fill it with earth, had she the power. Alas, that she didn't.
"If the giant is evil I think it probably means he won't be friendly," Alora helpfully informs Anomen.
"He's got a big fat belly and he's belching some he's probably eaten. I like to have a nap after I eat a lot and maybe he will too. Perhaps if we wait for a bit both heads will fall to sleep?"
I have a little plan: Jaheira, you could cast Entangle on the giant. Then we can shoot at him from a safe distance. As soon as he gets free and moves towards us, I'll cast Sleep on him. Arkanis, if the giant gets close to us, I cast Protection from Evil on you and you should try and get his attention, deflecting as many blows as you can. The rest of us will just attack with all we've got.
What does everyone think? Lady Aerie, what do you think?
"I'll get my rope ready so that if the giant falls asleep we can use it to climb down from the balcony and kill him."
OOC: Will Entangle hold a giant? I wouldn't have thought it was strong enough. Why don't we just fire off both sleep spells and hope one of them takes effect?
Jaheira wished that she had prepared to cast Doom, as well, as it would certainly weaken such a formidable foe. "Nature," she growled, "take the life that she gave!" She then headed in the direction Alora had scouted, ready to call upon wild vines to aid the party in incapacitating this foe.
As for this Lady Aerie business, she had half a mind to plant a boot firmly upon Jan's backside. Aerie was no more a lady than she, herself, was, and the favoritism grated her to no end. "Half-wits and idiots," she grumbled, before coming to a stop to cast Entangle.
Aerie readied her sling for the right moment, even though she knew she was not a great aim. Part of her wished that she'd memorized Bless instead of Sanctuary when she had the chance, but there was no way of knowing when the trusty near-invisibility-granting spell could come in handy. Hopefully the giant would be prone to missiles thanks to its enormous size.
Alora will go along with the rest of the party. While they are attacking him she will tie her rope to the balcony so that the party can climb down if need be. She will then attack with her sling. She will run if the giant moves into melee range.
If we successfully put the giant to sleep she will climb down and attempt to backstab with her short sword.
OOC: because after Sleep has taken effect, attacking the creature might wake it up. Entangled creatures cannot move, no matter what
OOC: I think it gets a ginormous save bonus. Sleep doesn't affect anything >3-4 HD, so we're going to do the best we can with this and hope for the best
OOC: I didn't realise Sleep would not affect it. Should we come up with another plan? Maybe we should try waiting to see if it actually falls asleep of its own accord? Come to that the idea of starting an argument between its two heads is beginning to look pretty good.
"I suggest you to think about this attack a little bit. And while thinking we could go back to Alora's underwater psionic friend and ask, if it know anything helpful about this."

Arkanis collect his throwing axe, if it's still usable.

@Deltago Yes, it does. The monster is evil. The man is not.

What do you think Alora, how would that beast fit in the corridor, what leads in the cave?
Maybe there's a way to get Culum's dad without engaging the giant. Stealth or wits or something...
