Alora returns to the rest of the group. "I found a wall of jelly," she announces proudly.
OOC: Oh, the price of not posting before bed... *grumble*
"A wall of...jelly?" Aerie stumbled over the oddity of Alora's declaration, although she really shouldn't be this surprised. They've run into a number of strange things in this dungeon; why stop now? "Was it dangerous? Did it move or try to eat you?"
"No... No, let's leave it alone for right now. What about the room with the monster?"
She gazed at the fur now in Jaheira's hands. It didn't look like the same kind of fur they'd found before in the other cage; that was most certainly bear. This...was nothing Aerie had ever seen before.
OOC: Oh. That was my bad. I thought we were on the other side of the curtain.
"I'd really rather you not bother to wall of jelly until we know more about this room and what it used to contain," Aerie explained. "It may not seem dangerous now, but as with most things we've encountered in this place, that could change with provocation. And I don't want to get hurt."
Inspecting the strange artifact, Alora's words took some moments to register. The animal was definitely enormous, and quite furry. She might even call the creature mammoth, for that was what it truly was. "You found what? Come, we must leave!" She then tugs at Khalid and briskly makes for the way they came. "Now," she adds, as the mystery of the now-vanished mammoth appears quite solved (along with Calum's missing dead-beat dad).
Frustrated that they weren't seeing the better plan when it was literally slapping them in the face, she pointed at the bone. "That is all that is left of an Oliphant-sized creature. That so-called 'Wall of Jelly' probably ate the rest of the gigantic beast. You do not want to tangle with one."
"The wall of jelly didn't eat me and I walked right into it. Maybe it's full from eating an oliphant? Anyway, we have to get past it to find out what's in the next room. I think we should see if we can melt it."
Alora gets out her tinder box and lights her torch.
OOC: sorry for not posting long, just caught up with the story so far. Jan readies his crossbow and stands beside Alora. For now, he only watches the wall of jelly closely, trying to detect the magic which created it.
"Guys, stop asking questions, start throwing stuff. Seriously, what's the worst that can happen? If the tactic doesn't work we go and pick up our stuff and try something else. Less talk, more fight! It's a jelly! You can't be scared of jelly!"
"It devours all living things," Jaheira tried to explain. "Skin, meat, sinew and bone." As for throwing things, that would only go so far; they were known to lash out, paralyzing and dissolving their prey with impunity.
Alora sets off two sling stones… and completely misses. Anomen stabs it deep in the side with his spear, and Arkanis follows it up with a throwing Axe. Jan hits it with an bolt that skims off its surface lightly, while Minsc hits it with a mighty chop from his sword. And the creature, which is more disc-shaped than a cube, turns from a jelly to a sludge that runs over the stones like water. (Yes, it's dead). 30 exp for everyone.
All that is left behind are some small bits of bone, but nothing as large at the leg bone in the cage.

"What if it was just a small stick, more like a twig, and I only poked it for a bit?"

*Keeping his distance, Anomen uses his spear and thrusts it into the body of the jelly*

Alora, hiding in the shadows and searching for traps, will creep down the passageway towards the Herbivore Exhibit.
