OOC I'm still following Alora with sword in hand... as silently as I can and not too close so that I will not attract any attention to her.

Alora returns to the rest of the group. "I found a wall of jelly," she announces proudly.

OOC: Oh, the price of not posting before bed... *grumble*

"A wall of...jelly?" Aerie stumbled over the oddity of Alora's declaration, although she really shouldn't be this surprised. They've run into a number of strange things in this dungeon; why stop now? "Was it dangerous? Did it move or try to eat you?"

"It wobbled a bit but it didn't do anything else. Should I poke it with a stick and see what happens?"
  • NonnahswriterNonnahswriter Member Posts: 2,520
"No... No, let's leave it alone for right now. What about the room with the monster?"

She gazed at the fur now in Jaheira's hands. It didn't look like the same kind of fur they'd found before in the other cage; that was most certainly bear. This...was nothing Aerie had ever seen before.

"Okay, you're the boss. I won't poke it with a stick," says Alora, disappointed.

"What if it was just a small stick, more like a twig, and I only poked it for a bit?"

"What about the room with the monster, Alora?" Aerie repeated, pointedly ignoring the halfling's further questions.

"We're standing in it," says Alora. "There isn't any monster. Only a bone and some fur. What if I just threw some small stones at it?"

"Why do we have to leave? We haven't found anything. Only some fur, a bone and a jelly wall."

We are not going anywhere until you explain yourself druid.

"What? Why? Jaheira, what's the matter?"

"P..per…perhaps it would be better to let them know what you s..sus…suspect, my dear," Khalid says, respectfully.

    Coward.

Deciding she liked the idea of a planet without him, Jaheira told him, "Go, oh brave and omni-impotent one. Save the cowards from the beast."

"The wall of jelly didn't eat me and I walked right into it. Maybe it's full from eating an oliphant? Anyway, we have to get past it to find out what's in the next room. I think we should see if we can melt it."

Alora gets out her tinder box and lights her torch.

"P..p.. perhaps if we stand back and p..pe…pepper it with missiles?" Khalid suggested. " We c…could retreat if it came towards us."

"We're not allowed to throw stuff at it but so long as Aerie knows it was your idea I'll give it a go."

Alora leaves off lighting her torch and gets out her sling instead.

Alora stands well back and fires a slingstone at the jelly wall.

OOC: sorry for not posting long, just caught up with the story so far.
Jan readies his crossbow and stands beside Alora. For now, he only watches the wall of jelly closely, trying to detect the magic which created it.

Druid, if you know of such beast, tell me what it can not eat? Metal? Stone?
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
"Guys, stop asking questions, start throwing stuff. Seriously, what's the worst that can happen? If the tactic doesn't work we go and pick up our stuff and try something else. Less talk, more fight! It's a jelly! You can't be scared of jelly!"
  • reedmilfamreedmilfam Member Posts: 2,808
"It devours all living things," Jaheira tried to explain. "Skin, meat, sinew and bone." As for throwing things, that would only go so far; they were known to lash out, paralyzing and dissolving their prey with impunity.

OOC: If this is a gelatinous cube you don't want to go into melee with it - even using a spear. Missile weapons are the way to go.
