"I wonder Arkanis, now that you've wandered these halls for a time, can your dwarven affinity for the underground give us any hint at the location of a pool?"

"Actually, no. But i must admit, that i enjoy this underground tour quite a lot, and i don't mind to take time and explore it thoroughly. However these many riches left everywhere without guard is somewhat disturbing. Regarding the pools: my bet is that we should seek an entrance to a lower level."
OOC: Let me know LadyRhian please, if his dwarven lore gives Arkanis any further insight with the pools.

Alora heads south to the third room where she listens and checks for traps before entering.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
The third room is exactly like the first two, missing the door in the second one. It also has no treasure. But at the end of the hall, the corridor changes to run west.

Alora follows the corridor west, checking for traps and secret doors as she goes.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
You head west. After 60', you find stairs leading up and the corridor heads south. After 30', the corridor heads back west. Another 80', the corridor goes north. Immediately, there is a corridor heading east, and it also continues to the north. About 50' down the eastern corridor is a door on the north side of the corridor. You also see the northern branch head east after 20'. At the door, you hear nothing, but see that the door is heavy and thick and has an "R" carved into it in an elegant manner.

Alora will check for traps on the door. Once the party are in position she will open the door.

Okay. :) This room is 20' wide and 60' long. This appears to be some sort of practice area/recreation room. The east and west walls are covered with pockmarked wooden archery targets. The eastern target still has 6 arrows sticking out of it. There are several quivers of arrows, but no bows. In one corner of the room are several iron bars of varying length and weight. They also vary in circumference as well

In another corner, a metal bar is attached to two walls about 7' off the floor, and nearby, a rope is attached to the ceiling 20' above. Except for two benches and a single stool, there are no furnishings in to room except for five thick, heavy woven mats lying atop each other to create a sort of floor cushion meaning 20' by 30'.

Hanging on the northern wall are several weapons, a notched sword, a battle axe, a flail, a spear, and a mace. Leaning against the wall are also two heavily battered shields.

*goes and looks at the mace and spear. If they are better quality than what Anomen has, he will swap them out, if not, he'll leave them there.*

OOC: Looks like we have found the gym.

Alora will go in and do a thorough search. She'll check the arrows in the targets just in case they are anything interesting.

She will pull on the rope to see if it is firmly attached. If it is she will climb the rope. Not for any good reason, just because climbing up a rope is fun.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
The spear is amazingly good. Well-balanced, light and perfect for either thrusting or throwing. The mace is twice as heavy, it seems, as Anomen's current mace. He can feel it pulling on his muscles as he lifts it and gives it a tentative swing. Putting it down and lifting his own, it seems lighter and easier to handle by comparison. And maybe that was the point…

Alora easily shimmies up the rope. And yeah, it *is* fun. None of the arrows seem anything more than normal arrows, though.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
Alora will slide down the rope and once the party have finished checking the weapons she will go back into the corridor and continue heading east.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Okay. after 10. the corridor heads north again, to rejoin another hallway from the west. At 30' it turns back east, as it also does at 40'. It occurs to you that this portion of Quasqueton is laid out something like a maze. Maybe even very like a maze.

You wander around, finding a complex of tiny 10' by 10' rooms and eventually find yourself back at the northern corridor out of the room with the farting flask. You have found your way out of the maze, and feel rather footsore and weary. (There is literally nothing there. So instead of being boring and making you search out every one of 10 10 by 10' rooms, I mapped it and will let you go back to where you'd end up).

You hear a chittering as five giant rats come bounding down the corridor at you from the north...

"Fall by the power of Helm!" Ajantis charges forward to meet the rats.

Neera begins to wave her quarterstaff around menacingly but tries to stay safely away from the rats; she's hiding behind Ajantis, Minsc, and Anomen. If one gets near her she will cast Nahal's Reckless Dweaomer+Magic Missile. Hopefully it won't come to that.

*Anomen tries out his new spear (he kept his old mace though).*

"For the fallen!" Clubs were good weapons to deal with vermin, and she planned to crush these to goo.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
The party makes short work of the rats. (Oprah style: And *you* killed a rat… And *you* killed a rat… etc.) Anomen finds himself really liking his new spear. It's a joy to handle and use in combat. Okay, @Permidion_Stark where to now?
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
OOC: I'm afraid I'm a bit lost again so stop me if I seem to be leading us back into the maze.

Alora will head north in the direction that the rats came from.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Okay, you head far north, and the corridor turns west for 100' before turning south. 20' down the south turning, Jaheira feels a space to the west that usually signals a hidden door. It takes you a while to find the trick of opening it, but at last, you discover a small pockmark in the wall that, when pressed with your finger, releases the lock.

This 20' by 20' room is empty save for a pile of rock rubble in the corner. A glint of a metal spike catches your eye, imperfectly covered by rock dust.

What an outstanding weapon. I wonder why anyone would leave it behind?
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
Alora will check the ceiling. Has the rock rubble been caused by a rock fall or the ceiling collapsing? If not Alora will go in, still searching for traps and look at the metal spike.

Rather than pull it out she will carefully try to lift the rocks off it.

"Perhaps whoever left here was in a rush," Aerie suggested, although it was more to work through her musings than to truly answer Anomen's question. "Although they'd been so thorough with the rest of the rooms... It is odd that they would leave weapons, unless whoever owned it wielded something stronger."

OOC: Sorry for lack of postings. Work. Sleep. Life. You know the drill.

"Let us hope that it isn't cursed. You haven't noticed any ill effects yet, have you? No megalomania or unexplained hostility toward your fellow party members?"

Ha. None that I hadn't had already. The weapon is superb.

OOC: Although I think I found a way to remove cursed items without a remove curse spell. If you are wielding the Cursed sword of Berzerking for example, if you dual class to a thief or a mage, will the item be dropped?

@kcwise "The Weakest Party Member" "You are the weakest party member! Goodbye!"

The rubble appears to have been piled here for some reason. What that is, you cannot say. The "spike" turns out to be the tip of a sword. A two-Handed Sword. Partly covered by rocks and rock dust.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
Alora, still checking for traps, will start lifting the rubble off. She will stay as far away from the tip of the sword as possible.
