OOC: I enjoy the RP aspect of this more than any other. Can you imagine a pissed-off Jaheira as spouse? She has him by the short curlies (sometimes literally). And she can whomp him. Or entangle, and then whomp him. Poor guy...
My one and only BG2 playthrough CHARNAME sighed up for that voluntarily. I still pity him
OOC: I hate the BG2 romances. The dialogue seems really tedious and sometimes downright embarrassing. And they all seem to be based on the idea that you choose your partner because they are victims and you pity them. And they all seem to want to make sweet talk just when you are in the middle of buffing the party ready for battle.

OOC: Wasn't how I saw the one with Jaheira; it was (to me) deeper than that. I didn't have Victoriona in my party, so it was just Aerie's whining 'do you think I'm fat' blah (translated into - do you hate my scars?) that went on and on. I did not relate to this, at all. Jaheira's felt more like getting this very tough nut to crack, just a little, to see that there's something good inside. We'll call her...

MACADAMIA!
Probably only funny to me, but I'll laugh for y'all!
Anomen is no big prize, either, let's not forget. Especially at the beginning, when he doubts you could have done everything you did in the first game because you're just a woman. :P

Pfft. Does his CHA suffer when Jaheira knocks out some teeth, followed by that smug look on his face?

OOC: Especially at the beginning? Like he is a big prize anytime later. I actually tried creating a female Charname and romancing him once. He is so in love with himself, how is it, that he can afford being in love with a woman also? Or is he a complete emotional wrack and boastful tales of his glorious achievements and selfpositioning as an alphamale (in presence of a living hero such as Charname, duh) is how he copes with it? Even though I enjoyed pittying and nursing poor Aerie, I couldn't imagine how a female player might enjoy dealing with Anomen.
@Reedmilfam Actually, I have mentioned before, I want to kick him in the crotch so hard that certain small rounded objects appear on TOP of his head, if not on whatever ceiling might be above him. I was like, "THIS is the only female romance?!" I'd rather romance Minsc than Anomen. We'd bond over bringing the boot to evil… And I never wanted to smack the feces out of Minsc!
@cyberhawk True, but that first comment is, to me, the most jarring. In world where women all over the place are warriors, he doubts I could do all that because I'm a woman? WTF, boyo? I eat prissy boys like you for breakfast… and they like it!
Okay, I am going to post for @scriver, just to move this along….
Khalid didn't exactly charge, but he moved quickly towards the rats. He passed into the Entangle area and flinched. "Oh my, my heart's really not in this…" he mumbles, but strikes out at one of the awake rats. He hits it hard and kills it with a single blow.
"I… I did it!" he said, sounding somewhere between amazed and triumphant. (Yes, amazingly enough, Khalid made his save vs. Entangle. I'm amazed, too!)
Aerie casts Sanctuary and disappears from the notice of the rats.
Round 2… Rats win initiative. The three remaining awake rats make their saves only one succeeds. The rat goes after… Minsc! It bites at his neck. Minsc is bleeding out and dying. Alora gets up the stairs and sees Minsc bleeding. She fires at the rat on him… and misses.
Khalid… saves again (with a 20, no less!) and strikes at the rat on Minsc. It ducks away and is only injured rather than killed. Jaheira also strikes (with another 20!) and kills it. Jan takes out a third with his crossbow.
OOC: Well, I could always hope that she makes her saves... Or she could try hitting the still-awake rat with her sling and wait for the Entangle to wear off. How bad is the bleeding on Minsc?
"I'll save you Minsc!" cries Alora and clutching her lucky rabbit's foot runs through the entangle to try to get to him. If she gets there she will roll up her treasure sack and press it against the wound to try to stop the bleeding until someone can heal him.
Minsc!! Aerie saw the blood flowing out of his neck, and would have rushed to his side if not for the magic vines writhing on the floor. No. She had to be smart about this. As much as it killed Aerie to leave her guardian with such bad wounds, she would be of no help if she were caught in the vines as well by trying to heal him.
Thankfully, it seemed Alora had noticed that Minsc was in trouble as well. If she could just bind his wound, she could heal him with magic once the Entangle wore off. Aerie did the only other thing she could in this situation: loaded her sling and aimed at the last rat that was still awake.
Alora finishes bandaging Minsc and is seized by the entangling vines, holding her silent and still. Aerie sends a sling bullet at the remaining rat rat and hits it, hurting it badly, but leaving it alive. Khalid, who once again saves handily (What a luck sack!) hits it, killing it quite dead. With the unsleeping rats taken care of, you finish the rest off before they can wake.
Waiting until the entangle wears off, you are able to heal Minsc, and the sleepers awaken. Minsc has a lovely new scar to show off.
You hear a young male voice from behind you. "You're… adventurers?" it says, sounding awed and admiring. "I never seen anything so brave in me life, I 'ave not!" Before any of you can point out that the boy hasn't seen even as much life as any of you have, he drops to his knees before you. "Please, sirs and ma'ams! Won't ye help me da? He went into the dungeon to try and get some money to feed us… but it's been days and he hasn't come out! I fear for 'is life. Won't you please go and help find me da?"
The boy is small and looks ill-nourished, wearing rather tattered peasant clothing. He looks to be about 10, but given how little and scrawny he is, he could be up to 13 or so. He has greasy black hair and light green eyes. On one hip is a battered knife, probably used for eating.
We won! We won! Good job everybody! High fives! High fives! (OOC: Actually quite low fives from Alora)
Then Alora hears the boy and turns proudly to him.
"Yes we are adventurers. We're called Alora's Marauders, you've probably heard of us. And of course we will help to find your father. We will go right away. Come on everybody: to the dungeon! Alora's Marauders to the rescue!"
She is about to charge off when she realises she has forgotten something. She turns back to the boy: "Do you know where the entrance is?"
After Jan takes notice of the boy: Alora's Marauders (that is us!) follow their leader Alora on all adventures. You should ask her, and I am sure she will willingly help you. What I personally wonder about is, how much money is there exactly in the dungeon? How did it came about that a dungeon has so much money in it anyway?
@cyberhawk The boy wrinkled his nose as he thought about it. "I dunno, sir. I always heard how Dungeons are full'a treasure. Da always thought so."
He lead you through the Bazaar to a small shop front you didn't notice before. It's small but clean, and there is a trap door in the back on the floor. "He went down there, sirs and Ma'ams."
Ah, the plot thickens... Not unlike a good bowl of turnip soup, after you leave it for a week, I might add. Now we are on two adventures at the same time - and who knows? Maybe there will be a connection between the druids and the man gone missing, as well as the shadow druid who enjoyed manipulating cave bears and the like! Maybe this has all been his own doing from the start? The bad weather, the unusually big rats... (and the damn merchant who cannot be distracted by anything at all).

Action for Aerie @Nonnahswriter?
Round 3, party will win initiative. There is one awake rat left. Minsc is still bleeding out.
Edit: Also, I'd totally pursue a romance with Minsc over Anomen any day of the week.
Alora can bandage Minsc, which sets his HP to 0 and leaves him unconscious, but alive.

"Hang on a minute. I've got to check the trap door just in case there is a trap on it."
Alora checks for traps. If she finds one she will attempt to remove it. Otherwise she will open the trap door and see where it leads.
Be careful, Alora!

These women need to learn to control their spells. The men are capable enough to handle these encounters without putting us all at risk.
Why the knight sent a squirrels my stature wuth the likes of this rabble is beyond my comprehension.
