"Given what we've seen in this place I'd guess whatever is swimming in that pool is carnivorous and unfriendly. This also looks like a good place for jellies to hide. Please be cautious," Ajantis pulls his sword and keeps an eye on the pools.
"Well the druid lady didn't say anything about fish and I think she would have so I am going to fill a flask from the green murky pool because that is probably the one she meant"
The empty pool is just that, empty. The bottom of the pool appears to be some sort of yellowish, ceramic material. Oops rubs his head against Neera's cheek, but shows no interest in any of the pools.
Hoping that this is some sort of work of natural magic, Jaheira considers the pool with care. Her gut instinct was that the shimmering, clear liquid was the subject of her search, but she also knew that the wise listened for divine guidance.
OOC: Heal. My guess, not Anomen's would be either the half full or the empty pool is the one we were sent to find. They are the ones most used and depleted. And I will also mention two words for who gets to be the test hamster: Shortly Saves.
OOC edit: The druid also only asked for one flask from the pool. We purchased (I forget the amount) so if no one wants to taste, we can have a flask of each and get her to tell her which one she wants while conning her into identifying the others one (or paying her if we are of lawful good alignment so muzzle the paladin if we go that route).
Gazing about the cavern, Aerie counted the pools on her fingers. "There are fourteen pools, and eight of us. So we can fill eight flasks from eight different pools, if we wanted to."
OOC: Alora favours the Alice in Wonderland (or is it Through the Looking Glass?) option where you just start drinking stuff to see what it does.
"I could taste it. Do you want me to taste it? Which one should I taste first? Or should we get the gold and jewels out of that pool because they probably shouldn't be in there?"
"We don't know what these pools are supposed to do, Alora, except that one of them is supposed to heal; tasting them could be dangerous. Why don't we bottle samples of each pool and carry them back with us for identification?"
OOC: I handed all my flasks (6) to Alora. And a flask of green slime could come in handy. Throw it at some one and watch it eat away at the person's flesh.
Without anything to go on, Jaheira goes, pool to pool, sniffing the vapor in the hopes of feeling a surge of... well, of something. Grumbling about the pointlessness of sending the party into this unnatural gash in the earth, she vents her frustration at not knowing the answer by trying to deduce the correct solution.
Each pool is about 3' to 4' deep. Jaheira grows dizzy from the wine fumes from the pool of red liquid. It smells absolutely delicious, grapey and fermented.
As soon as Alora breaks the surface of the treasure pool, the treasure disappears. The "ice" pool is hot to the touch. The boiling water is, well, boiling hot (and the flask becomes hard to hold). The empty pool is, as described, empty.
The sparkling liquid continues to sparkle in the flask. The fizzing liquid hurts (it's acid). At the bottom of the acid, you can see a key.
