Does the treasure reappear once the water in the pool settles itself?
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
    @deltago Yes.

"There's a key in this pool that isn't being eaten by the acid. I think it's a pretty important key. But I don't know how to get it out. Does acid hurt wood? Could we poke it with a quarterstaff and try to push it out?"
  • deltagodeltago Member Posts: 7,811
    Leave it!

We came to retrieve a flask from on of these pools and that is all we are going to do. This misadventure side tracked us enough from helping Castle Greyhawk deal with its weather problems, we don't need to doddle here longer than we should.

Fill up the flasks and lets leave this place.

"Perhaps we could try that shiny new spear Anomen acquired. If it's enchanted the acid shouldn't cause any damage."
  • NonnahswriterNonnahswriter Member Posts: 2,520
"But the key must be important if they went so far as to leave it in the heart of acid," Aerie guessed. "We still have no guarantee that any of these pools can heal either. What if we're missing something? That key could lead us to it. The only question is, how might we retrieve it?"

Alora hands the flasks to Anomen. "You fill them up. I've already got my two."

    * holding a mace and shield in his hands, being ready on the defensive against the slime that may attack, he can not accept the flasks back*

Don't sass me girl. Do your job and lets be done with it.

And if you think the key is that important, take my spear to fish it out. Some fool probably dropped it in there by accident and it wasn't important enough to injure themselves over.

"She does not answer to you, sod knocker," Jaheira growled. Her loathing for Anomen seemed that it had no bounds, and she was eager to be rid of him. "Aerie is our leader, and she wishes to retrieve this key. Make it one of your silly quests, if need be," for her only care was that he positively contribute.

OOC: And thus the heroic Alora, paladin of the realm, set forth to do battle with the demon of watery acid. Verily, only she possessed the bravery needed for the dread task!

OOC: When I finally get around to my Alora BG2:EE mod I might make a Paladin variant of Alora just to reference this thread XD

Just don't drop that spear in the pool
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
"I won't drop it. I'm being careful," whines the would-be paladin. "Stop going on at me I know what I am doing."
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Okay, Alora fishes out the key. Everyone else fills their flasks. What will the party do now?
  • NonnahswriterNonnahswriter Member Posts: 2,520
Aerie grinned as she watched Alora scoop up the key. "See? That was not so difficult."

Then threw a sidelong glance at Anomen, half-hoping to see him frown.

"Well done, brave Halfling!" In all honesty, Jaheira was just as willing to do the same, but enjoyed ribbing Anomen. In fact, such hijinks almost made her glad that he was around. Almost, but not quite...

    "Indeed, good show Miss Alora!"

"Does anyone recall where we might use this key? Any locked doors or chests we passed on our way here?"
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
Alora takes a bow. "I don't remember any locked doors we couldn't open but I bet it is for something really important. We haven't quite explored the whole dungeon yet. Maybe it is for something we haven't found yet?"
  • kcwisekcwise Member Posts: 2,287
"Maybe it is magical in nature? I now it sounds a bit fanciful, but perhaps you should dip the key in the treasure pool? Perhaps it will 'unlock' the treasure."
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
"That's a great idea! Let's do that!" Alora dips the key in the treasure pool.

Arkanis tastes the two clear liquid, that are in the not full pools and the red wine liquid.
  • NonnahswriterNonnahswriter Member Posts: 2,520
"Arkanis!" Aerie yelped. "Y-You shouldn't drink that, we don't know--"

But her protest died in her mouth as she watched the aura envelop him, eyeing him up and down. "I-Is that...?"
  • reedmilfamreedmilfam Member Posts: 2,808
"Perhaps it is," Jaheira stated, deliberately positioning herself in between Aerie and the Anomen idiot-fool. The only question was whether it was merely illusory, or if it truly aided Arkanis in any way.
