Maybe we shouldn't take the money from the pouch. Because it probably belongs to whoever owns the clothes. And when he comes back to get dressed he will be angry.

OOC Alora is worried about the prospect of meeting an angry nudey man.

"Somehow I don't think he'll be coming back."

"Perhaps he will perhaps he won't, at any rate he will have far more to worry about than the loss of so paltry a sum."

DM: 11 gp is a huge sum for a commoner, probably a year's wages.

ooc: my bad, thought that was cp, though in truth still be a good chunk of change

DM For an adventurer, probably about 20 goblins worth. ;)

That would mean that having 10000gp in the game (not at all difficult to do in Baldur's Gate) would be equivalent to having around 50 million dollars in real life.

Alora feels a pang of guilt about the plight of the poor in Faerun and decides only to steal from very rich people. And people who are mean to her.

Okay, moving on... the back of the house is a landing, with some dangerously-unsafe looking stairs leading down, and a set of broken stairs leading up to a hole in the ceiling. Only six treads remain, although if Alora was to stand on Minsc's shoulders, she could probably get up there and look around.

@Awong Yep. Adventurers are filthy rich by the standards of commoners. By nobles, well, not so much.

"My mind is a wonder as to what manner of person would leave these clothes and pouch in such a place as this? Even my great intelect can not fathom such an odd happening."

    Edwin rubs his chin.

"Perhaps we will meet with the owner of these items and get the chance to find out. Let us move on with our venture."
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
Alora will use MInsc as a step-ladder and stand on his shoulders to see what is upstairs.

This is the attic. Lighting is irregular, provided by small holes in the roof. Alora is going to need to use her lantern. When she gets it out and lights it, she finds it is much like the storage room, only much, much larger. It's a T-shaped room that covers the entire house. Grimy cobwebs cover the walls and ceiling/roof and the floor is liberally strewn with dust, dirt and rubbish blown into the house through the holes in the roof.

The floor is liberally heaped with rubbish and bits of broken furniture. There are two large sacks in the northwest corner of the room, and more items to the southeast and southwest.

"Maybe he got abducted by aliens. The hole in the ceiling makes sense."

I'll clamber up and find a sturdy beam I can tie my rope around so that everyone else can climb up after me.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Okay. You do so. There is easily enough room for everyone to stand under the roof.
  • DelvarianDelvarian Member Posts: 1,232
"Yes you are no doubt correct in your assumption Kivan."

Edwin watches Alora scramble up the big warrior with the small mind.

"Is it worth our time to investigate up there?" Edwin calls out to Alora.

I'll tie the rope round my waist and get Minsc to hold the other end, then being careful to check that the floor will hold me I will go and look at the sacks in the northwest corner.

The sacks are big and round and full... of more worn, torn clothing and rags. To the southeast, you see a headless- human-like figure... a tailor's form. To the west, you see something tucked up in the roof. Sort of oval-ish and dark.

    Is it an owl?

Is the oval-ish dark thing one of these?

I'll shine my lantern on the thing in the roof. Can I see what it is?

"Perhaps we should send Kivan to feed it grubs, or to bore it to death with incessant comments."
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
::Laughs.:: No, not an owl or a portable hole. It seems to be made out of leather and... sticks?

    Is it Kivan's girlfriend?

Edwin moves forward to better inspect the item, having minsc pull it from the hole if need be.

    DM: Maybe. ;)

"Well, at least I'm trying to contribute. You're not very useful at all. For all your 'wealth of intellect' you claim to possess, you can't even identify a bottle of run of the mill antidote."
