I was playing SOD the other day and realized that my scroll case was totally empty. I cursed Beamdog, EET, and SCS before realizing that I purchased a new scroll case in Baldurs Gate before heading out on the journey and my other scroll case that had 25,000GP of scrolls including all of my protection from evil and protection from undead scrolls had simply been bumped out onto the streets of Baldur's Gate when an NPC gave me something and I hadn't noticed it. So I either have to start SOD over because even EET will not allow me to go back or Clua Console the spells that I can remember and take a loss on the ones I cannot. Either way, it's frustrating and my fault. Though I wish the game would drop the item that the NPC was giving you and not important collections of items that you have been amassing for a year in the previous game. At least it wasn't a game bug though. Originally I jumped to that conclusion.
Getting quite far into the story without taking a single hit. When I finally took a hit it was of all people Chase the suicide guy who I went back to because I started wondering if he could be pick pocketed. I failed, he turned red, I was expecting him to run away and instead he attacked me. Even after I was hit and lost health I still couldn’t believe he’d attacked me.
i remember doing the paladin stronghold a couple weeks ago, and i was at the Inn in the umar hills, and i was conversing with the wizard in there, and when things started to escalate out of control, his final excuse was that he was filthy rich and could do whatever he wanted, and i was thinking; is that so bud? lets look at the back pocket here...... yup, over 100 000 gold, so...... how rich are you really? richer than me? doubtful, but of coarse no option to say so, so instead, turned the holmes into bacon bits, but i guess he was wad anyway, so win/win i suppose
EDIT: oops, i thought this was the baldur's gate logic thread, @ZaramMaldovar your name threw me off, hahaha
so minus my above post being an act of a face palm moment
i just started a new game with a fighter/mage/thief ( on around the 10th reroll i rolled an unintentional 96, snice )
so i talk to gorion and spam the ESC key to skip through all that cut scene stuff, and as soon as the prologue started, i got hit from the arrow from the cut scene and died in one hit, good thing that wasnt a no reload run hahahaha
I too felt compelled to start a FMT run the other day (that thread!!!!) but didn't die to the cutscene arrow - I've always wondered it that was possible.
Just a few minutes ago I posted on the meme thread and my memes ended up getting all jumbled up causing me to edit the post five times....it's still not in the right order but at least the major problems were fixed.
I took on Kangaxx recently. Having my main character as a front line combatant when Kangaxx switched to demilich and started lobbing imprisonment was a bad, bad, bad idea.

Yeah, if you end the cutscene before the arrow hits you, it does regular damage. ouch.

indeed, in fact i was looking at the script for that cut scene fight one day, and what actually happens, is that your character is given the belt of "minimum 1 HP" so you can't actually die from that arrow ( so in case you were a mage with 4 HP you wouldn't die in one hit on insane)
and then when the cut scene ends, you are healed and the belt is taken away
luckily when the game auto saved, the arrow did not auto save with it, or else my roll of a 96 FMT could have been in reload limbo haha
finish the ulcaster ruins, look for the ulcaster ghost, spending a couple of days resting, and holmes doesnt appear, so i console him in to give bud the book, and as soon as i finish the quest with the consoled in ulcaster, the real one walks up from the bottom of the screen and face palm
Just got my FMT into SoD - good fun. However, in the opening assassination cutscene, Imoen got chunked by the assassin - the rest of the cutscene takes place regarding a small bit of detritus on the floor - but I guess everything will be OK because Duke Janath says she has a potion for that. It really pays to be a Grand Duke.
Most recently: Eldoth being paralyzed at the beginning of my battle with Aec'Letec, the end consequence of which was me butchering everything in the room, defeating Aec'Letec, and Eldoth subsequently breaking free of paralysis and fulfilling his previously assigned order to cast a Wand of Fire right into the centre of the room, which killed my protagonist.
Talk about embarassing , probably realizing tonight what the stinking lil red diamond is on the main screen is..the stinkin quickloot button. I mean jeeze, I've heard it talked about, seen it, even hit it by mistake and wondered what the heck was goin on with the screen. I mean I know I got some problems with altering my consciousness, but lawd. And I've been playing for how long now? Maybe it was just a secret fetish for picking up every single thing the hard way. I guess the good thing is I have a new lease on BG now for me because of a newly found magic button. Just for reference, what finally kicked it in for me was the the thread on picking up ever gold piece or not. https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/69366/how-much-gold-does-it-have-to-be-before-you-pick-it-up#latest
@Zaghoul The game itself always shows the twelve boxes once you've clicked it, but some of the UI mods change it so that they only show the boxes that actually contain anything. This allows you to always keep it open, and it'll only pop up when there's actually loot around.
When I realized that you can scroll down in the list of thief skills when you level up. A whole new world of illusion detecting and successful trap setting opened up for me. If only I could've seen that world through the palms covering my face as I realized how long I had played the game without knowing this basic thing.

Hahaha, that's so funny I want to cry, cry tears of joy! I'm sorry if this is awkward, but I am literally burst-laughing my ass off right now!
My most epic fail was a combo of bad playing and AI....
I dont play mages or sorcerors. But I had decided to see what “it” was all about. Rolling a 98 Dragon disciple on my third roll convinced me it was time for a sorceror solo trilogy run.
Things where actually going well, and I had reached level 25 in SoA and was still in chapter 3 - I only needed the planar spheere and my stronghold before going to spellhold. Had even cleared the levels 1-4 in WK.
My gear was also top notch: robe of vecna, ring of gaxx, staff of the magi and such. Sub zero ac and almost subzero saves.
Picking up level 13 Valygar instead of killing him proved fatal. Outside the cabin we where attacked by 4 shadows and 2 shadow fiends.
Not needing the xp Charname rushed (with boots of speed) to the end of the map - Valygar followed but was caught by the shadows and he started to melee them... Standing idle, charname (AI turned on) decided to join the fun - and got held by a critical hit from a shadow fiend and a failed save. The undead didnt do any real damage - besides str draining charname to death .

Little did I know that simply being Evil is not enough to justify killing someone.
Who knew?

Apparently I'm famous for only two things
1. The Baldur's Gate Logic Thread
2. Discussing my character
3. FIRE!
I'm sorry those are three things, my bad. I'm a little trigger happy.

wake up from 8 hour rest and accidentally move my cleric while casting said spell
ah spell failure, good times
That is some epic failure, the kind you talk about for the rest of your life.
