Guess its time for me to start playing the beta for real instead of messing around for in it for an hour at a time. I'll try to see how the importing of items goes over as well, now that BG2EE detects your saved games from BG1EE.
By the way. How "Over-Achievers Anonymous" is going to work? Is it 100% confirmed the achievements are working? Since I've encountered couple of glitches in my beta playthrough.
For example;
Godlike - "Increase an attribute score to 25." I got this achievement with my swashbuckler dwarf when I started a new game. Even though none of my stats were nowhere near at 25. Same happened in BG2. I imported my swashbuckler to BG2 and I got the achievement there as well.
All the Options - "Have Neera, Dorn, and Rasaad in the party at the same time" I've recruited all three of them and I didn't get anything.
Good old windows 7. I've been playing BG since XP, but I'll probably have to upgrade to Windows 10 someday.

OVER-ACHIEVERS ANONYMOUS I am sorry Beamdog, but I won't be able to get all achievements. Some of them require of me to do evil deeds, and I always feel bad about making Boo sad.
I am sorry Beamdog, but I won't be able to get all achievements. Some of them require of me to do evil deeds, and I always feel bad about making Boo sad.
The key here is to do them anyway, get the achievement, and then reload and pretend that nothing happened.
Meet Fela, she is a shaman looking to learn the names of the element(al)s so she can bend them to her will. Regardless of how many heroic deeds she does she can't help but feel her story is playing second fiddle to another's (she has a sneaking suspicion it is that bard Kvothe).
Penguins, Rectangles, and Fruit
After uploading a screenshot from my macbook pro, my windows 10 desktop got jealous. To make up for it here is a second screenshot:
Know Thy Selfie
I don't always take selfies, but when I do it is for the road to v2.0. or I don't always play BG:EE, but when I do I drink scotch, pick locks, and practice my archery (NOTE: IRL I never mix alcohol and archery)
Over-Achievers Anonymous
*looks at achievement list* *calculates how many game runs it would take to get all achievements* *realizes that number is greater than one* *resists the urge to use the console to get achievements* *come to term with letting someone else take the glory for this one*
Hmm. I'm beginning to suspect that the fine folks at Beamdog might have overshot a little with those roadmap goals... I'm not sure we'd have 500 characters even if I submitted 400 myself.
Hero of a Thousand Faces: 7 Know Thy Selfie: 7 Penguins, Rectangles, and Fruit: 9 AMA Let You Finish: 29
The next survey will come a little sooner than the last one, to give people time to submit it before the next build lands.
I'm confident we can get some of these milestones unlocked before the end of next week. If you have friends who haven't joined the beta, get them involved! Spread the word! Rock the vote beta! (Sorry folks, it's an election year in the US.)
Any language sounds aggressive when you put it in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.
A friend of mine loved to comment that Neverending Story is much more beautiful to read in German because of the way the language uses metaphors to create new words. His favorite example: "kindergarten", literally meaning "a garden of children". That's just cool.
I like the improvements, especialy new character screen, now it's all clear. I also like new solution for scrips. Maybe I will use scrips for the first time.

I'm not really good at it. I'm not observant type. But I found one detail that bothers me. On character screen in Proficiencies, there is a line that can be misleading. We all know that ** gives only warrios type of classes 1/2 extra attack. And that line is added if you have those ** in any weapon and you play fighter/paladin/barbarain etc. But ther's also this line in Styles that you have extra 1/2 attact per round with the selected weapon. It's misleading to me.
Meet Ardath. Though she has a kind heart, she seems to have a natural talent for poison and sneaking. Fatherly influence, no doubt. Plan to take her through the entire series, SoD included. Poison nerf or not.
Probably bring along Neera and Rasaad (haven't had a good-aligned playthrough with the EEs yet). And Corwin, naturally.
@Autocrat is that 18/0 strength just a regular 18 strength being badly displayed by the new UI? Or an 18/00 being badly displayed by the new UI? (and I wonder how you would achieve the latter )
@Autocrat is that 18/0 strength just a regular 18 strength being badly displayed by the new UI? Or an 18/00 being badly displayed by the new UI? (and I wonder how you would achieve the latter )
The former. The UI displays 18 as 18/0, and 18/00 as 18/100. They both display wrong.
For the Hero.milestone you can certainly submit multiple characters if you want to. But that highest tier is definitely a pie in the sky.
Well, you asked for it. Kinda. I'll go ahead and load up some older characters I have, and we'll take a look at how they're doing in v2.0.
First up, I present to you my favorite super-overpowered custom party: the elven archers!
When I came up with this party concept, I did some research and found out there were exactly 6 bows and crossbows with unlimited ammunition available in BG2, which sealed the deal right then and there.
The archers are: - Rhene, wielding Tansheron's Bow +3, - Kyrene, wielding the Tuigan Bow +1 with the Quiver of Plenty +1, - Akirea, wielding the Shortbow of Gesen, - Nerisei, wielding Tansheron's Bow +3 (poor Catti-brie's copy), - Halira, wielding the Light Crossbow of Speed +1 with the Case of Plenty +1, - and Lana, wielding Firetooth +4.
They are ridiculously powerful. On average they do 4 attacks per round per character, and they can destroy pretty much anything in a single barrage or two. Except for dragons - those tend to go down in 2-3 rounds.
@Dee Is it okay if I write up even more characters and playthroughs in a format similar to this?
In order to find any new bugs and to Prizes to the community, meet the first part of my hall of the BG2EE beta heroes - bugbusters - believe me, the newly added feature of ESC as an end to the opening scene helped greately here.
Does anyone know why my UI sometimes had a pink tint, and sometimes not?
Hero of a Thousand Faces
Warriors
1. Natsume, a fighter
2. Mori, a berzerker
3. Murasaki, a wizard slayer
4. Akiko, a kensai
5. Ueda, a dwarven defender
6. Futabatei, a barbarian (btw, a barbarian is now a kit in a fighter class)
@bengoshi if Barbarians are now a regular fighter kit, does that mean that a) they can now dual-class like a fighter, and b) put 5 pips in weapon specializations? [Just now realizing that I have never played a Barbarian]
In that case I am confused as to how it functions as a kit. IIRC, Barbarian was the classic example of a kit in 2nd Ed, although my memory is certainly rusty on rules systems >25 years old (suddenly, I feel ancient!)

Meet Nemesa of Candlekeep. A small shaman Half-Elf who is going on her first adventure!
I'm not really a fan of selfie, and I'm quite shy, but if I get the chance to have a "baldurized" portrait, it's worth it.

I actually prefer the English version of Baldur's Gate because of the full(er) voiceover, but the German community translation is very good, too.
