    Let's see if we could make practical use of columns, or if that would screw things up completely:

    It sorta works, but you gotta be real careful. Because there are no actual rows, if any of the columns has a linebreak anywhere, the whole table becomes unaligned. I guess this looks like incorrect nonsense on mobile...

    Let's see if we can have side by side spoilers:
    left
    middle
    right

    Seems that works fine, but they can't have titles. It would be nice if they could get those titles, that would be convenient.

    As for the other stuff... you have to ask how useful those are to have on a discussion forum... We're basically weighting "The ability to do fancy stuff" to "Ease of use", and I'd lean more towards Ease of Use.

    However, there are a couple of things that would be really nice to see included as BBcode tags, namely tables and spoiler titles. I'm not sure how reactive Vanilla Forums is to such requests.

    There is a glow BBCode class for text shadow but doesn't work.
    [glow="yellow"]color shadow text[/glow]
    [color="red"][glow="yellow"]color shadow text[/glow][/color]

    Edit: found on web
    Glow style should be defined in BBCode plugin something like this-> As example, the green glow:
    <!--[if IE]>
    <div style="filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Glow(color=green, strength=1);width:100%">Green glowing text.</div>
    <![endif]-->
    <![if !ie]>
    <span style="text-shadow: green 0px 0px 5px;">Green glowing text.</span>
    <![endif]>

    I've been watching their GitHub project with some interest since joining the forum a couple years ago (I set up Vanilla on my own server specifically so I could tinker around with some of the things that may be useful here).

    I've noticed a few fixes going in recently to do with spoilers, which are probably the fixes we're seeing here for the originally broken spoilers when they crossed over to using the Advanced Editor.

    S'ok. I can take a little ribbing! :smile:

    I just wanted people to know that rainbow text can be hard read for those with high-index glasses.

    And thanks for editing your post, @Erg. I've always found it odd that the forums use black background on desktop but white on mobile.

    Maybe we should just use plain-text. There's no bugs in plain-text. ;)

    What codepage does the plain text option use?

    In all seriousness, all the spoilers in this thread retroactively broke, so it looks like any spoilers created under the current BBcode are broken for now.

    This may inadvertisely cause some actual spoilers posted in the last day or so to become unspoiled!

    Yep. Also the lack of spoilers in my triple post in the second page of this thread makes me look crazy now, or at least crazier than usual :-)

    I'm fine with HTML - if we can ban rainbow text. It's the BLINK tag of the 21st century.
    You mean this?

    :p

    AAUUUUGGGGHHHH! My eyes! :wink:

    Actually, yes. WIth my glasses, chromatic aberration makes the different colors bend different amounts. So unless I have my head perfectly level and looking at the screen dead-center, the colored text does not share a single baseline and the kerning will be off.

    If I move my head side-to-side (to look at my second monitor), the "mea" drift away from the "n" and it starts to look like "You mea n ths?" with a really small space between "You" and "mea". Also, the i and s in "this" appear on top of each other (to the point where it looks like a "s" with a dot over it.

    If I tilt my head downward, I get three baselines. Upper one for red letters ("Yo" "n" "th"), middle for yellow letters ("u" "i"), lower for blue letters ("u" "mea" "s?"). Tilting my head up gets the opposite effect (but I down is the more frequent direction I look, usually the "chin in hand for pondering" pose as I read).

    So, yeah, I'd love to see rainbow text go they way of the BLINK tag and the dodo bird.

    Seriously? I never knew this. I thought everyone could see the dancing letters, I didn't know it was a feature of wearing glasses.

    @Erg the fix also seems to have remedied spoiler'd code:
    Check out my awesome table skillz:
    | Level | THAC0 |
    | 1     | 20    |
    | 2     | 19    |
    | 3     | 18    |
    | ..    | ..    |
    | 19    | 2     |
    | 20    | 1     |
    | 21+   | 0     |

    Edit: ...sort of. Looks like it just ignores the spoiler tag entirely. :p

    Edit2: ...and now it's working. Odd.

    On the mobile view, at least, none of that shows as spoiler'd.

    EDIT - I love that the voting is still a dead heat but the thread has become "let's try to expose all the forum bugs"

    What you call a dead heat, CNN calls a "projected solid victory for the BBCode campaign" (even if only 2% of the votes have been counted and the polls don't close for another six days ;)). It is very close, though.

    And yes, if you find issues, post them. The more we can point to specific posts for our bug reports, the more easily Vanilla will be able to fix them.

    While I prefer the gray spoilers over the blue ones, more aesthetically fitting, it also removed the staff's blue backgrounds.

    If this is getting fixed, perhaps Staff could get a more dark-gold/brown background? Seems to be more aesthetically fitting the rest of the scheme.
