Skie will do the same as before.

And I claim Alora's Boots of Speed. You said she was torn to a bloody mess, so I assume her feet are still in them.

@Awong124 Pieces of them, yeah. Alora looks like she went through a blender head-first.

I'll keep one of the potions of healing if I survive the battle against the Gargoyles.

Okay. Keldorn misses. Kivan hits, bringing down one of the injured Gargoyles. Valygar takes down another. Cernd misses. Ajantis injures one of the remaining Gargoyles. Branwen misses. Aerie kills the Gargoyle Ajantis hit. Skie sets off a burst of magic missiles, which rip into a Gargoyle, wounding it. Irina brings down another of the injured gargoyles. The remaining beast turns on Valygar, clawing him for three damage. Next round, the Gargoyle wins initiative and really rips into Valygar for 21 points total. Keldorn brings it down with one last hit, however.

New levels and hit points- Keldorn Level 7, 91 hit points, Kivan, Level 8, 75 hp, Valygar Level 6, 36 hit points, Cernd Level 9, 65 hp, Ajantis Level 7, 63 hit points, Alora Level 5, dead, Branwen, Level 9 69 hp, Edwin Level 5, dead, Aerie Level 6/7 26 hit points, Skie Level 5, 19 hp.

There is a popping, buzzing fizzing noises. Two bodies appear in mid-air and fall to the floor, Between them lies a burnt-out wand. You recognize the two as Garrick, a musician of some renown, and Xzar, a Necromancer who also happens to be a Zhentarim.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Irina, still gasping from the exertion of battle, turns an incredulous stare at the rest of you. "Does this sort of thing happen to you often?" she asks, gesturing at the two males on the floor.

After seeing his blood soaking through the armor, Valygar gets lightheaded and kneels on the ground. "Blood...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh." Valygar faints on the ground.

OOC: I have a blood phobia. It's a tragedy that I cant watch horror movies because of the immense graphical depiction of gore.

*seeing the people scavenging the dead* I thought only Strahd had ghouls, can't you let those poor souls die in piece, or in many pieces. Though to be safe, I think we need to make sure Edwin does not seek revenge for us letting him die. *goes to his mangled corpse and slices the head off* Can one of you who stock on garlic stuff it in his mouth.

*looks at Alora's remains* I'm torn here, she wronged us, ruined us in many ways, but to die like that.

*shocked at the sudden appearance, puts sword to necromancers neck* What manner of evil is this, how did you come here, is this another of Strahds games? I am tired of this, one poor choice after another, souls at risk and now even greater dangers and we're no closer to finding a way to safety.

snorts in disgust, seeing the weak-willed stalker keel over at the sight of his lifeblood...uses her staff of curing on skie, eyeing the newcomers with distrust.... turning to irina...the Gods must have sent them...although i strongly doubt whether it was Tempus, from the look of them!
  • bbearbbear Member Posts: 1,180
"Has Keldorn fallen? That's not the righteous way for parting with former companions, even through they have wronged you." This is the thought of the semi-conscious ranger.

How could Skie miss? Magic missiles don't miss.

Gah! I'm sorry! That's the bad thing about being sick... the headache. Well, I just rolled damage, and it wasn't enough to kill the Gargoyle at the time, so I'll amend the post.

No worries. The battle's over anyway.

*Takes a step towards Keldorn, then stops, glaring at the Inquisitor with rage in his eyes*

All life is sacred, I would gladly take the life of an enemy, but to be so callous to those that fought beside you...

*Moves toward Alora and Edwin's corpses and kneels at each to utter an elven prayer for the dead over the fallen*

*takes the rope of climbing from what is left of Alora and the+2 dagger from Edwin*

    You will be avenged.

Xzar eyes the Paladin with suspicion, but not particular surprise:
"Ack, have the figments come again? Well, if ye be real then I must say this is an impolite greeting. And if ye be unreal, transform into an imagining less...painful. Tell me, what is a Strahd?"
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
    Keldorn feels cold and alone.
  • EvinfuiltEvinfuilt Member Posts: 505
This world is impolite, if you were brought here much like we were then you are an enemy of Strahd. *pulls sword away* I can't see him using something so ... unusual ... as you to test us.

And you Kivan, would you risk something as powerful as Edwin coming back for us. This world would have made it so, we can't risk it. Unless Strahd controls slimes as well, I'm not worried about Alora's remains haunting us.

You there, new wizard, do you have a name? As you may have overheard from my compatriots, I am Keldorn Firecam, Paladin of.. I am a Paladin lost in this world of evil. And you there, silent one, what is your name? I'm trying to adapt here to working with people I would rather see locking in a cell, but the chaos of my groups actions disconcern me. Enough rambling of an old man, we seek a chapel here and could use assistance reaching it so we can rest.

Don't worry Irina this kind of thing seems to happen to us all the time. People come out of thin air or from shadows and join us for a time. It must be the will of the gods.

Would you care to join me while I pray to Helm that He may watch over our fallen companions' journey to their final destination?

Xzar pulls himself to his feet, doffs an imaginary cap and speaks in a faux-noble accent he assumes will endear him to Keldorn: "Well, now that we are speaking on more even terms I greet you most humbly and declare that I am Xzar, a...wizard of...well, a wizard." Briefly glancing around at the carnage he continues: "it seems that fate has put me...that is, us, in a rather dangerous situation. Banding together seems prudent and most...noble and pure-hearted and other such things. Ahahaha!" (The laugh is supposed to be reassuring but actually sounds a little mad).

He abruptly becomes distracted and begins poking with glee at the various corpses that litter the area, sometimes jotting down notes in a small notebook.

Branwen arches a brow, watching the new wizard with a scowl...
"hmph. just our luck. we rid ourselves of a power hungry evil fool and his replacement is of the same ilk, but considerably more twisted and insane! this place truly is cursed!"
  • EvinfuiltEvinfuilt Member Posts: 505
*whispering to branwen* though I shall play along with him, I doubt he's as intelligent or cunning as Edwin, but maybe he could help clear a path to Strahds chapel. Anyways, he is somewhat endearing, like a puppy. One I hope we don't have to put down.

*out loud* Lord Xzar is it, *bowing* I am humbled to meet your aquaintance. Your timing is most excellent for as you can see, we have an opening for a wizard of great powers such as yours. I would love to learn more of where you come from, but first I fear we must find a place more befitting of someone of your stature. Lady Skie, come here, you and Lord Xzar should spend some time together, you have ever so much in common I'm sure you'll hit it off fine.

    OOC: Keldorn the Matchmaker.
  • rufus_hobartrufus_hobart Member Posts: 490
sighs and nods, conceding the wisdom of Keldorn's words..
"all right, Paladin, we will play it your way. But pray make sure you keep this puppy on a tight leash, i trust him not a jot!"

Aerie will go about using her healing magics on those who need them. Not sure how many spells I have left after the wraiths' attack, but I'll cast Cure Medium Wounds on Valgyar, twice, if possible, cure light wounds once on myself and once on Skie. After all this, I desperately need to rest; I'm pretty much out of useful clerical magic at this point.

Garrick holds his head after the minor fall and looks around. "uhm, hello?" Enheartened that no-one has put a sword to him he continues. "I'm Garrick. I do believe I know some of you. Lady Skie, are these your men-at-arms?"

OOC. Garrick knew short sword and crossbow in bg and has since trained with the mace. As for spells he currently can cast Color Spray, Friends, Magic Missile, Strength, Mirror Image and Ghost Armor.
  • rufus_hobartrufus_hobart Member Posts: 490
    eyes the foppish bard sniffily.
"Garrick, is it? You are welcome young bard, as long as you can wield a weapon as well as you do a lute."

Branwen thinks she is out of healing for the day (from memory, anyway), but if not, will heal any who require it...her staff of curing still has 18 charges left as well...she still has a few spells up her sleeve (neg. plane protection, slow poison, draw upon holy might, flame blade, chant, remove fear, command word:die) but no restorative magics...

Looks at Keldorn. "Silent one? Well thats a first." He then looks around and find Alora's corpse. "Poor lass. Was she the cook? Also, would anyone mind if I take her sword? It looks quite sharp."

"I suppose they will have to do for now. Where is your mistress Silke? I saw her perform at a private party at the Ducal Palace in Baldur's Gate once. What an incredibly liberal woman, openly proclaiming herself 'lesbian extroardinaire' everywhere she goes!"
